Using scraps from a 30-plus-years collection to build a treadle hammer for the blacksmith shop. With few exceptions the pieces were connected without much manipulation. On the utility poles and a few pivots and rings had to be cut.

This is so cool!
Hi roger, I've seen your videos and I like them. I really wanna talk to you abaut some of your work, but I'm not been able to find you in other social media. If you can reed this and leave a social media account I appreciate so much. I know this sound a little creepy but I swear I'm not 😂
Did u use ordinary portland cement and sand mortar? Or more traditional clay n sand mix?.hats off to u by. The way. Im a groundworker and utility main layer and i am very impressed to say the least. Excellent work my mate!!😊
We would get on like a burning house. Just hope it aint yours cock! Im from Lancashire by the way.😂
He should have uses clay instead of cement. but nice work.
Very nice. I admire your determination throughout.
nice video. nice forge. thanks for sharing!
Nice video! You dropped the rivet in your shop at 1:40 of the video.
Awsome, love all those old treadle grinders, post drills, hand crank blowers and grinders, etc. etc. You been on a scavenger hunt for all that!👍❤️
I noticed that you stopped uploading a year ago. I found your channel about 20 minutes ago after seeing your 3 part series on building your forge.
I know this video is more than 2 years old and nobody is watching the comments anymore but I'd like to know where did you get the plans for this? I haven't seen a link to it yet. I've wanted to build one of these but I want it in Adobe bricks as I live in the South West, like in the Mojave Desert of So Calif. I know you mentioned the place you got it from, but I'm looking for a link to it.
Just use a zip tie
I've seen kens tongs pretty cool. I'd like to have there power hammer lol 😇😁😇
Seems alright, but I can only know if I ride in your boat a couple times to make sure.
😂😂
Good job!😇😁😇
Whete did you get the fire pot
A beautiful piece and work that is a great legacy for years to come... Great craftmanship. Forge on and God bless.
Good
Dude unless your time is worthless, your material cost you a few thousand percent more than what the actual dollar value was..... took you 2 years worth of effort to buy it all on the cheap... it would have taken 1 weekend worth of overtime to pay for all of it at 20$ per hour. I see this all the time on these kinds of DYI videos and people think they saved so much money by piecing things together over the course lf years and investing 100x more time than it should take to get the materials and never think about how much their time is worth. If people put some thought into it they would realize their cheap materials cost 100× more than brand new materials they can get immediately.
You don't understand hobbies. They're not driven by saving or making money. They're for the pleasure of the experience, however firebrick for forges cost a significant amount of money unused. These aren't regular house bricks they're made for higher temperatures.
Do you have apprentices?
Looks awesome Sir. 👍
Always a thrill to catch that first swarm!
Hi, interesting to see your work. I also blacksmith and keep bees in Springfield, Illinois. Regards, Rick
Do you have a list of your materials and your sources, and also plans for the build you can share ?
Looking for a full set of plans to do this same thing. If you have plans with all the measurements I'd love to have a copy.
Hi i have been blacksmith for 7 years and i have to say .. love that forge of yours , InFact so muck i am building one out of firebricks ... hope you would make longer videos .. i think you could do great on your channel :D are you on facebook btw ? thanks for your videos
About how many bricks did you use?
Nice video series. It would be great to have a full walk-around or even more hero still images taken from different angles showing the final configuration without the scaffolding. Great job on the build!
I love it, looks very functional. Dad said, use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without! It's a classic use what you have build and should work for years. Thank you for sharing.
Pretty Awesome work for A Carpenter now a Certified Brick Layer. Very sweet Blacksmith Shop
I’ve been looking for plans like yours would you share your plans.
I watched you on Royal Emporium! Thank you, & "Drew" & all of your family for sharing with us! Pls keep me in mind when you sell your "Erasers"😉🐝❤️🙏
..Ken's makse some more Quality tooling along with other items. Great presentation on assembling these...!
Curious for some more footage of the smithy being used. I'm beginning to model my own forge after yours but could use some quality shots of it if that's something you can do in the future!
Absolutely beautiful. Very good work.
Thank you very much. I enjoyed the build as much as using it. I’ve used a wooden forge with clay; and a 55 gallon barrel with a “disc”. This is my first real forge. And I love it! Thanks for watching. Thanks for the comment.
..yep, got several rain barrels. i use a squirt of dishwashing liquid for bugs. kerosene is a bit costly but effective. besides the dish liquid makes the water better for quenching to me...
What are you going to do in the winter.
I will drain both the barrel and the line for the coldest months. Thanks for the question and for watching.
@@burnettsforge I have power but no heat I use a bird bath heater. Usually doesn't stay bad cold that long inBama.
..yep, perty much start a fire like that. tractor supply has some weird policies. to get the coal i'll have to go 2 or 5 counties over instead of getting it 15 miles away...
Really? The one about 13 miles from me doesnt keep it in stock either, but they will order it for me if i buy a whole pallet at a time. I think next time im gonna head to the coal yard about 4 hrs from here and bring back a couple tons.
@@20mcarroll02 ..the one near me won't order a whole pallet for some reason. the other 2 usually stock a pallet or two...
..Nice setup sir. i made one and use it to crush aluminum cans with the gran-bratz....
Thank you. I can definitely see can crushing in the distant future; first grand-daughter is only 3 months old. 🤣😂
Thank you for sharing your toolbox. I will retain some ideas for my future beekeeper toolbox !
Looks great!
Nice handle! You could remove the store bought lag bolt and forge a square head on it and it would look like it was old as well!
Lol. Totally agree. Have some soaking in vinegar at the moment. Will square them off and put them in the handle tonight. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Man that’s a nice shop you built there.
Thank you. It grew and changed a lot over the last 4+ years.
Good video
Thank you. Plan to do more now that the shop is “complete”.
So cool and impressive!
Thank you.
Roughly how many bricks did you use for the whole build?
About 100 fire brick. And 1200 regular brick for everything else. I have 400 more I intended to use for taller chimney but did use them.
Awesome job brother
Thank you. Now just to find time……
i live down here in leeds AL brother love to know someone here in bama made this great piece of smithy tech
That is amazing. Well done.
Thank you. Now to find more time to be in it.
