I have always been blown away by Kit's acting skills. But Joe has really developed this year. That phone conversation was relatable and blew me away and I was in a puddle of tears. I agree that Hayley handled the Menorca scenes well. However, I will throw out that I feel there is an Olivia Coleman sized hole throughout the season that is not filled. It adds to Nick's isolation and suffering and watching Nick suffer is not easy!

I think this might have been my favourite episode yet, I love how tobie and rhea bounce off each other and even though it was short they covered quite a lot of topics. I think the song "IDK how to talk to girls" by Beth Mccarthy should be on rheas playlist cuz its very imogen coded 🤣

I think Imogen is gonna have a comphet situation and is kinda gonna have nicks storyline from S1 but I think a demi storyline would make so much sense for her too, kinda want them to have imogen discover who she is outside of a relationship first even tho I'd love for her and sahar to get together

I'm glad you took time and didn't pay attention to that insta poll, lol. I'm lucky that my TicToc is just Taylor Swift stuff. I tend to go to Twitter , and Insta for HS stuff. (The only thing I saw was what I assume is Charlie surprising Nick with a Zoo day for his birthday, which isn't the worst.). Great pod. I agree with most everything you say. (Also someone mentioned the birthday cake was the colors of volume 5.) I wouldn't be surprised if Nick said his mum helped him make it, to bring her a little into the season. I think the Auntie will be great. I was upset that Olivia Colemam wasn't going to do the iconic scene in Menorca, especially since I VERY easily pictured it, and it is my favorite scene in the comics, BUT Hayley nailed it, and all my concerns have gone. (Also someone pointed out to me when I was having my freak out that the scene is about Nick, not about Sarah, so just as long as we see he trusts his aunt, that is the important part.)

I'm rewatching the whole show and re-listening to all your podcasts before S3 comes out! I absolutely love your show! Anyway, if you look at the gymnasium floor when they're practicing for the concert, it's red. However, at the concert the floor is blue. It's two different gymnasiums! We also never actually hear anyone say which school the concert is at (only that the rehearsal is at Truham). So it's very possible that the concert was in fact at Higgs. Which makes sense because that's where the practice room is. Also, does anyone else find it disturbing that there's a practice room that locks from the outside. At Higgs. The school that in Solitaire [spoiler]...

Had to pull over to comment how eerily similar my Heartstopper story is to Kassandra’s. I heard mutuals in the queer spaces online talking about it for a few months but I didn’t sit down and watch it until the week my childhood dog was dying in June 2022. I took off that whole week just to stay home with her and hang out by her side and I didn’t realize how badly I really needed that comfort until I watched Heartstopper and it felt like the biggest warmest hug I could’ve possibly received. Of course as soon as ep 8 ended, I started ep 1 all over from the beginning. I will always be grateful for all the comfort and happiness this little teen show on Netflix has brought me over the past 2 years.

I love the fact we already know Nick and Charlie stay together. It goes to show when you have great writing and perfect casting with amazing chemistry , that actually the " will they wont they" trope just serves aa a distraction that is not needed. So much more enjoyable knowing we dont have to second guess that and can just lean into the story as it unfolds!

October 3rd is also the day of German Reunification (Tag der Deutschen Einheit) which is a national holliday.

It was great to see Ian on here! When I think of who I was in high school, I probably relate a little more to Nick than Charlie because I was kind of the naive protective school jock (though with Charlie's insecurities 😅)

I'm definitely not prepared for season 3... And at the same time I can't stop thinking about it I honestly lost count on how many times I've watched every episode

Regarding the amount of content they’re covering in S3, I try to remind myself that vol4 tells the events of Charlie’s hospitalization through each of their point of views, contributing to the page count. I feel like overlapping their perspectives into one narrative is a reasonable amount of content for 3-4 episodes!

This season is definitely going to have a lot… I hope that they episodes are a little longer and or a longer season

October 11 is National Coming Out Day!

Imogen's internal monologue when seeing Sahar play is the same as Nick's when he opened the door to Charlie post-haircut. It's as if someone turned the heart eyes emoji into a real face. I have seen this episode so many times but I had to pause the podcast to go watch the final two scenes before listening so it was super fresh. I will never understand how Kit can show SO many emotions with his face, it's just incredible. The desperation to want to help, the need to show Charlie how much he loves and respects him, the utter joy of being in his presence, the confusion, the hurt.. Gahh it's all too much! ❤

Also, one more thing. I think the song Seven also can symbolize that last moment of innocence, and thinking of childish ways to getting out of bad situations, and in season 3, with Nick and Charlie (and others), it going to get mature and serious pretty quickly.

For me it was a 13 billion (in honor of Seven). My sister watched the two seasons and said she was going to wait to read the comics until the end of the TV series. I went and bought her the series, and made her read it, so.....

This was, by far, my favorite guest episode. He was thoughtful, articulate, thorough, and insightful, and I really appreciated the added layer of his media critique. My favorite part was where he talked about the visual symbolism evoked by Charlie sitting on the tree in the art room. Top notch analysis there, and definitely something I’d never considered. Even when I didn’t agree with his opinions (Why Am I Like This will always be my favorite song-to-scene pairing), he was able to make a convincing case for his viewpoint that enhanced my appreciation for the show. So, when is he coming back on?

I was in a semi Ben like situation, and for safety issues, never got to REALLY tell him EXACTLY what I felt. (just ignored the guy until he got tired of me not responding to his emails, and texts. It took 2 years, and me blocking any new number.). He blamed his horrible treatment on trauma (not related to being queer, but just blaming his parents for his nastiness), and I wish I could have given a speech like this because it is not a frigging excuse. (Also, Darcy has a HORRIBLE homophobic, just mean mom, and yet, she is so kind.). Of course my mom has pointed out, that he doesn't deserve the energy of a speech from me, but it would have been cathartic.

Can i just say to you both> Thank you so much for this podcast it brings me so much joy so thank you for still continuing to post while going through your own difficult times. All the little fanfiction ideas you give motivates me to continue writing and I have made a note when I post those fanfics I most certainly will be crediting your amazing ideas Alyssa and hopeful I will do your ideas justice. From the bottom of my heart you are loved within this community <3
