Two Head-On Boeing 747 Departures (CF6 and RB211 Engine Sounds)
NATIONAL jumbo N663CA with GE CF6 jets, and Silk Way West 4K-BCH with Rolls Royce RB211 leaving runway 15 at BHX within minutes of each other on 26 May 2024.

First time I've ever seen a vortex of condensation from engine to ground when applying reverse thrust on landing. This Silk Way West jumbo (4K-BCH) braked hard to make an early exit from a wet runway 15 at Birmingham Airport.

Silk Way jumbo 4K-BCI opted to depart from taxiway FOXTROT at Birmingham Airport on 1 May 2024 - nearly HALFWAY along runway 33! This gave a great opportunity to capture the rotation from the northern end in Sheldon Park. You could also say he was fortunate to get up before reaching the fence ;)

First the glorious smoke cloud on touchdown (0:55), then as the brakes are slammed on (1:22), and finally vapor from the engines during taxiing (3:55). All this on a lovely sunny evening at Birmingham Airport on 15 May 2024. The plane is Silk Way jumbo 4K-SW888.

This was the world's first twin-engine wide-body airliner when introduced way back in 1971, also Airbus' first production aircraft. So a bit of a special occasion for Birmingham to welcome this 53 year old! The MNG Airlines cargo plane, registration TC-MCC, visited on 7 May 2024.

Another beautiful Boeing jumbo jet from Azerbaijan visited Birmingham/BHX on 26 April 2024 and loaded up with autos and other cargo. 4K-SW888 lands on runway 33 but departs on 15.

33 year old jumbo and PW4056 engines was too much for the car park at Birmingham Airport on a (unique?) day with three of the big old freighters together on the ground (see video ua-cam.com/video/z-vWz3YvxZw/v-deo.html) . This is National N729CA on 17 April 2024.

Over 7 minutes of tension as the Emirates giant Airbus struggles to land at Birmingham Airport on 21 December 2023, flight EK39/UAE32N. Over 500 tons of airplane plummeting like a falling boulder before pulling up to try landing again later on. Emirates flight EK39 circled around for nearly an hour after this incident before the pilot 'dared' make another attempt to land, in much easier conditions when the strong gusts and squally rain had subsided (01:24 in the video). 28 December 2023.

Both airplanes hit by powerful gusts just before hitting the runway. In the first clip both planes can be seen on approach only 3 minutes apart, so may have been hit by the same local weather event on a gusty crosswind day at BHX.

Brilliant piloting of this Cirrus SR20 of Daedalus Aviation (reg G-GXVV) at 13-34 on 21st January 2024. Two much larger airplanes had been forced to abort their landing attempts just before this due wind-shear on runway 15 at BHX. You even hear the Air Traffic Control officer tell the light plane pilot "that was very impressive"!

4 failed landing attempts by the Emirates super-heavy Airbus at Birmingham Airport between 21st December and 28th December 2023 - there's only one flight per day so a high proportion. Here on runway 15 in a strong south-westerly wind day after Boxing Day, but there's a good spray display in the rain on his landing on 2nd attempt.

They don't have eath movers in the I.K. ? Aka flatten somewhat the runways.
It's been lengthened a number of times. The low angle exaggerates the bumpiness.

For me still the most beautiful of the big ones. If you come to BHX and wrap yourself up like cargo you've got a decent chance of getting on one here! ;)
RB211s sound really good!Preferable to the CF6.
Fans of the C-5 have been saying that for years.
To me the RB211 is lower-pitched with a bit of a "growl", the CF6 is more shrill, so I would agree!

Dramatic indeed. I was listening out on the Birmingham approach freq. while flying just west of the zone a few years ago. An Emirates A380 was on the freq., the pilot sounded incredibly like Arnie. It took all my RT discipline not to say "I'll be back" when he was transferred to the tower.
Love the 747, but this also is an impressive plane!
On a plus note, you can flare as long as you want without the risk of running out of runway.
We would do this in Hawaii with a 152. wind speed of the along the mountains exceed the stall speed of the plane. We could fly backwards in relation to the ground on some days. Reality we were above stall speed do to the head wind.
Glad he was quick to get the flaps up; might have gained some altitude at zero ground speed if not.

The runaway is not 180° flat. It's wavy for a great big bird to touch down made it splashed out a lot of water or some smoke due to hard friction
