For a while I've stood strong with my opinion that they should have kept the super simple storyline from the alpha builds. You are new to this neighborhood, you have a strange neighbor, therefore you should investigate. It all relies on your own curiosity, you're not forced into a cutscene (Alpha 2 is sort of an exception, it doesn't immediately get you caught as soon as its over), you're just thrown into your environment and your curiosity drives your motive. (e.g. the glowing red door from the Pre Alpha, or the car crash coming out of the basement in Alpha 1) Sometimes, less is more. They just kept adding and adding more content and lore, making it convoluted and unnecessarily complicated (as you said at the end of the video.) I feel like they should have kept the characters exclusive to the player and Mr. Peterson (and maybe a couple others, depending on what was in the basement, if they used the family man storyline, etc). I don't mean to sound so nitpicky, I absolutely love this franchise (And have ever since the pre alpha build) and get obsessed with it every once in a while. It just makes me sad thinking about the Hello Neighbor we could have had. A scarier experience with a less convoluted storyline. I don't know, maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia, I just wanted to share my thoughts. Also, I've been confused on the storyline for a while, and this video really helped, thank you! Look how beautiful the game looked. Man I miss HG. Wish it got finished.

HN1 and H&S was so easy to follow. Even if the game played with reality and dreams. Everything after those two games though has gotten wayyyy too complicated. And here’s the thing, I like the plot in HN2 with the cultists and the guest. Especially with the show, they just need to tell the story straight up, rather than having us second guess ourselves every time a new release happens. Or the inconsistencies between the titles. They need to just finish up HN2’s story clearly. And go from there.

I just got around to watching your new video! And oh yes, the ships! I remember almost all the drawings presented in the video when they were still fresh and posted not so long ago at that time of the fandom rising era. It turned out that I left the fandom early enough, not even knowing what awaits it after a full-fledged release - and there was a trash, as I understood from numerous posts, at least from you, with themes of harassment and bullying due to the first ship that is as old as their world itself, that is, itself the game, even before the appearance of at least some related plot. Some new guys came, beat up the oldies and veterans and took their place. Mmm, how familiar this all is. The fanfiction topic brought up 2 specific fanfictions in my own memory that I remember the most. I can't mention one of them because of the darkness of what was happening in there, but it was certainly written very beautifully, and that's why I remember it. And the second one was a straight up fluff-fic (idk how they're called), where it seems like a player comes to a neighbor for the New Year, or something, and at the end of their meeting, the neighbor gives a charming sweater to the player. Cuteness was at its highest, I would like to find such a treasure again, if it wasn’t removed after so many years (in addition: people just had their fun and it was great, someone posted darkfics, someone - fluff, or even some cracky stuff, but it was just a regular way of showing how the fandom was working at the time, it was motley, but at the same time they all got along with each other). I can't say anything about the second ship - after the first game, I wasn't so immersed in the topic of new episodes of this universe anymore. But with the second one, as I understand it, it's much easier to just let it be - the characters were not connected in any way in the past, in some way which would may seem somewhat problematic for fairly new inhabitants of the fandom as with the first one (again, a few years later, until the plot of the game appeared). This was very educational, thank you :) So... actually, I still don't understand why people hate some pairings. Probably because I'm not a member of fandoms except for a couple of my favorites. Hello Neighbor - including. I have been in this fandom since December 2017, I saw how books were published and how the franchise expanded... I followed updates, fanfiction, and create content myself. My friend and I have created many AUs based on this fandom. But it was never published. Why? Because they would either not understand it, or they would hate it - we had pairings with the original characters, as well as completely different characters of the Neighbor and the Player/ Quentin and Smith. We probably just wouldn’t have found a feedback. But the main reason why we didn’t publish our work was dissatisfaction with the direction the franchise had taken. I wanted to say this under the last video, but... Hello Neighbor has long become a cash cow. The author sold his brainchild, turning it into a garbage attraction. The original Hello Neighbor and Hide and Seek was where the soul was. A story about loss, fears and how we cope with them. But what do we have now? Books from a third-rate writer that completely changed the original plot, turning good characters into moral monsters and clowns. Idiot comics. And an incomprehensible pair of games parasitizing on popular game genres, as if wanting to attract all potential players... and children? The franchise has become aimed at children, and children can watch cartoons, buy cheap merchandise, idiotic books and much, much more... So a few years ago, my friend and I took our characters and disowned the fandom. We still dearly love Hello Neighbor - but that part of him where the soul was still there (Hello Neighbor/ Hello Guest). We also still continue to create content about this fandom, but only for ourselves. We don’t really follow updates right now or why some shipping gets hate.. So, it’s probably for the better :)
