Im a woman (you can call me sis but don't dare call me cis) and I've lived in my share of suburbs. Now rural and so glad of it. Maybe because I'm Southern and live in a red state? Good points! The destroyed gender relations are a nasty problem for both sexes. What is often under-talked is the mismatch theory. People become really unhappy when they don't find a professional occupation that is adequate for their skill level and rate of development. The school curriculum becomes increasingly 'soft' by which I mean verbally oriented. The tech, math and the sciences are demoted. The result is that boys find themselves in a comparable situation to women athletes. For them blather about oppression isn't soft. Given the same amount of training women have a larger active vocabulary and make fewer grammar and spelling mistakes. They rise through the ranks, graduate with better results and gain boatloads of confidence. In their twenties, when they look for men of a higher status, they are hired more easily and make more money. Statistically, though, they don't want the big careers as much as the men do who had been pushed aside. You get a lot of male 'losers' and women bitter about the higher class men with the stamina pulling up and overtaking them on the job trajectory. Then they begin to clamour for a work-life balance and sometimes seek to stifle the ambitions of the people around them. It's toxic for everyone. And the women's lack of companionship and children is heartbreaking. They suffer more from it than man and the man suffer more from being sidelined than women. It is so cruel and so unnecessary.
