Very cool Frank. We need younger musicians like you that appreciate the people before you, and as a contrast to the trash that much of popular music seems to be. From the little I hear anyway.

I first heard this on a bootleg Peggy Lee album I had years ago. It was one of my favorite albums but I would always skip this song as soon as it came on. I’d heard it before and on paper it was a good song but at the time it just didn’t do anything for me. A few weeks ago I got the melody in my head and I couldn’t get it out. I tried it on harmonica. First in a weird position that didn’t quite work, but then I found a position that was perfect, letting me use both the high end of the harp as well as the low 3 holes. I figured hey, it’s a jazz standard and it would be good for the channel. While learning the song, I grew a great appreciation for the actual arrangement. As is usually the case, I think Peggy Lee sang this better than anyone else ever did. Even if the old version I remember was a scratchy radio transcript. While learning about this song, I listened to all the other popular versions of it and not a single one came close to Peggy Lee’s version. I also read the lyrics which I’d never really payed much attention to. It was a gut punch 🥊 The song is about nostalgia. About a guy whose life has moved on, but he is still hung up on a nostalgic time in his life that he romanticizes and can’t seem to forget. Something I think we all go through. Looking back on old times when things were better and wishing it could still be like that. Or at the very least wishing you had appreciated those moments more, however that may be. And yes, as usual there is a giant error made near the end. Honestly I don’t even care anymore. I can’t get a good take no matter what I do so this is what it is

i play manjis on basis and i can say its upsides and down sides easily. So manjis is the best harp for a fast playing in upper octave and it has a darker and classsical instrumental tone but not rusty as for hohner reeds i think but 3rd hole out of the box is bad and quite, it is harder to sustain overbends but it yu can play on it havier than on hohners which is cool but for bends you need more accuracy

the main problem for you here i think is you are not used to the deluxe comb and wider holes, sometimes on both mb and mb deluxes reed arching is shit set out of the box

and i think the tuning on these two are different

The best tone is from marine bands no doubt, when i play it adds dirty texture to each note idk why but it is always good for me something between sp20 and golden melody in terms of tone which is perfect

Played Marine Bands for years never had much of a problem with them . Have a couple of Lee Oscars and their fine as well. Gussow swears by them for blues .

Hi Frank, It's been a while, but I'm glad you're doing OK...and I like your attitude....you don't need to tongue block, but if you just put your tongue on the holes you'll get it. Playing and driving is a good way to practice, and playing folk kid's songs in first position is a good way to learn 2nd position.... Ever since the brain surgery I realize all the mistakes I've made with addictions especially..... Curtis Salgado told me that a Brain surgeon friend says playing music helps prevent some serious brain problems later..... You make videos we all appreciate . I've been watching less videos, but have not forgotten about you, and those old Horn players are a big influence on me too. See you next time. Oh, yeah Frank it would have been easier to die after surgery, but that would have been a real drag cuz there are too many responsibilities I have to take care of. And, Rosalia would have been sad, and we die all to quickly anyway. I've been lucky..... Get your voice well soon so you can sing again. Yes, prayers your way from where ever they come from.

Their probably is more air escaping on the Deluxe. The holes are bigger. As fare as the special 20 goes. A lot of players like them. I for one. Who cares about how it looks. It's about how it play's.
