Augenstern (2023) for piccolo, toy piano, violin, viola, cello and percussion
Augenstern, a German expression, is comprised of Augen and Stern. Augen stands for Eyes, and Stern for Stars. In literal sense, it means 'stars in the eyes', while metaphorically means 'the most precious one'.
When I was a child, I had always been told our beloved ones who passed away would turn into stars. They twinkled, just as if they were tenderly talking to me through all time.
"Augenstern" illustrates the drawing of my starry sky, where my grandpa shines, being my most precious star.
