For sports enthusiasts, the Olympic Park offers a chance to see the Bird’s Nest Stadium and Water Cube up close, marveling at the structures that defined the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Yes. Sir Joseph George Ward, built my house in 1877. Let that sink in first. Lol. He became the local postmaster general, was also town Mayor for 2 terms, and also chairman of the Bluff harbour board (now owned by Southport). He also established one of Bluff's first export businesses, J. G. Ward and Company. In 1887 Ward entered Parliament (Government) as MHR (Members of the House of Representatives) for Awarua area. Ward, more than the others, quickly revealed a fascination with new technologies and their potential for business expansion and, ultimately, job creation. His market-place skills were never more obvious to his parliamentary colleagues than during the tariff debates of 1888. His cogent arguments for restructuring New Zealand's mail shipping contracts, showed that he was often a step or two ahead of ministers of the day. No ideologue, Ward was a technocrat with a passion for getting maximum value from government expenditure. Most commentators in those days noted his courteous demeanour and his 'bright and happy' style of debating. At this time in his life Joseph Ward was engaging, well dressed and accustomed to success. In June 1891 he ambitiously launched into the frozen-meat industry which was pioneered in NZ, with his decision to build the Ocean Beach Freezing Works just outside Bluff. So yeah, that old statue dude played a seriously significant part in shaping NZ's early export trading history. Bluff is still the oldest, continously habited township in New Zealand. Thanks for the great video mate. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I used to live above the Penguin Beer co. back in the 80's. It was my first home. Back then it was Gillard's Music (and video rentals). My dad used to run the place. Lovely town, after that we moved to Ulverstone which is also a really nice little town that rarely ever gets mention in videos like this unfortunately, but I hope you managed to at least stop there as you were passing through. They have a cool clock in the middle of the town and a couple of murals and a couple of nice parks.

@mysterymantravels public drinking is illegal unless your homeless and they're not just drinking it runs into fights, house break ins, stabbings, ect... we also have a drug problem in AUS with crack, ice, meth ect.... they're extremely disrespectful to even their own kind if you don't show them attention yet they're also piss weak when one wants to be smart but gets pressed 😂 they get the "😳" look to them also you're in town there's 2 types ones that arnt yet banned from town and others which are banned from even buying alcohol in the city... should speak with some locals they'll tell ya all about it along with the youth petty crime and car theft 😂

The locals anyone who has lived in that area has lived there forever from your time perspective my friend. That punch was avoided by him showing true respect and lowering his voice a little. Young man just go real gentle round these men. They were blessed enough to never see a white man until 150 years ago. Just talk real soft way in the Outback. You can call me your Unkl pesh until you leave Australia. But go gentle its sorta like 50 years after slavery ended still. But tread real lightly around the only people in the world who maintained control of their land. Vote was only given 50 years ago, talk soft but strong way.
