Attacked By Black Bear
Black bear attacked my deer feeder and destroyed it. They eat all my corn in my garden. And there’s nothing I can do about it.
In this video I’ll share with you what to do and what not to do for your own safety regarding bears.
My deer feeder is made out of steel and is mounted above 6 feet to prevent such destruction. But this bear is huge. And its teeth are strong enough to rip through almost any material including steel.
No these are not bullet holes. At first I thought someone had shot my feeder. But I was wrong.

Liquid Gold Ice Cold Spring Water
Переглядів 3224 місяці тому
Life depends on clean pure water and there’s nothing better than ice cold fresh mountain spring water straight from the rocks here on the Welch Family Homestead farm. Here in the Smoky Mountains we’re blessed with hundreds of crystal clear spring heads where artesian water pushes up deep from down in the earth, filtered through the rocks. I’ve been needing to set up a spot here where we can col...
Can I Fix This Tubeless Tire On The Mower?
Переглядів 5016 місяців тому
If there's something that is going to happen on a regular basis on the farm, you guessed it, it's a flat tire. If you're going to have a farm you need to know how to fix a flat tubeless tire. Most farm equipment has tubeless tires and patching them is no easy task. I have several John Deere's but my Kubota ZD 1211 is a beast when it comes to cutting grass around the homestead. It has a 72 inch ...
Draw A Perfect 5 Pointed Star
Переглядів 1998 місяців тому
Geometry doesn't have to be that difficult. And in woodworking we use it every day in one form or another. The five point start, or the pentacle star, is easy when you understand how to utilize the shape of a circle and how to divide it into 5 segments or the pentagonal shape. The star is used in many country flags around the world, including the American Flag. The five pointed star is also see...

Hi ya'll, this is Jef at the Welch Family Homestead and Smoky Mountain Custom Doors. As you all know, I source my material here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Although we have our own sawmill on the farm, I have awesome neighbors that have a vintage circular sawmill that has been in their family for generations. And it is still in operation. Today's video is without words, and just the pleasantr...
Giant Marker Tree Found In North Carolina

Hi ya'll. This is Jef at Welch Family Homestead in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. This is Cherokee territory and yes, I do believe we have a rare treasure on my mountain. Now some will debate if the trail trees (marker trees) are real or a myth. There are some discussion about the timing of the Trail of Tears in the late 1830s. A tree would need to be older than that to be considered an a...
More Than Just Farming

Out of risk of telling you what the video is all about before you have the chance to watch it, I'll give you a little hint. Yes, it takes a lot of funds to keep a farm up (or to even buy a farm). And the truth is, a farm takes years to develop before it yields a profit. So in this video I will share with you how I have by resigned my corporate position and am pursuing what I love to do most, fa...
Camper Fire Ends In Tragedy
Переглядів 80410 місяців тому
Campers and motor coaches are extremely flammable and the bigger they are the further it is to the door. Getting out can be virtually impossible if you can't climb through a window. Manufacturers design exit hatches, however, if you aren't in optimal health it is impossible to escape. When an RV catches on fire they burn fast. My brother had his motor coach parked here on my farm to enjoy the b...

Being an avid flyer I know vapor trails are very normal and commonly occur when the moisture and temperature in the air is just right. And when flying a jet ascends and descends through various layers of the atmosphere. This provides a perfect opportunity for vapor trails to commonly occur during a flight. I’ve seen literally hundreds of videos on chem trails and have been a skeptic to the stor...
13 Things Good and Bad About Homesteading

This year has been brutal for many reasons. I quit my job as CEO of an international company 6 months ago, but for a good reason. I was loyal to the ownership and I stuck it out as long as I could, but they just got so far behind on paying me I had to resign. I was hoping to have the farm to the phase of at least breaking even financially by this time but as mentioned in the video, there's more...

I will show you how to lay out a mortise in an uneven log, full of knots, obstructions, bulges, curves, and bows. This will help you calculate around the obstacles that might cause you to throw up your hands and quit. There is a secret to seeing beyond the imperfections. In my opinion it is these type cha...

Do you have pets? Don't forget! Their safety is priority. They don't know what you're doing and they can get hurt while you're focused on other things. In this video I'll talk about how a dog's instinct will control their actions and your actions may control their reactions. A stick is something a dog can fetch, carry around, and chew on. But a big stick is a tree and it is dangerous if a tree ...

This has been a busy month. We have been in a draught in the Southeast USA. In farming that means we have to take special precaution, especially for forest fires and assuring the forests stay healthy. Part of that process is cutting out and removing dead standing trees which are infested with pine beetles before they spread to other trees. While removing these beautiful large forest pines, I'm ...

lol, I don't think people realize just how fast a bear is. I live in the mountains and made a bin to store my garbage in. I made it out of 2x4 and put some 1/4in hardware on the outside. Well I don't need to tell you how that worked out.
I‘m glad to see you and Fontana

Danke für das interessante Video,ja man kann da viel Geld sparen, bei eigener Reparatur.Wünsche ihnen weiterhin Gesundheit und Gottes Segen ihnen und ihrer Familie
I used to do this work all the time in a tire shop. A piece of advice from me on the procedure of repairing the tire. I agree that the tubeless plug is a fine repair even on the sidewall for a low speed application but not any street tires as the flex of sidewall will cut off the plug and it could be a terrible thing if it is a blow out. The first step is keep it near the air compressor and then pump the tire up to about 25 to 30 PSI the reason you want to over inflate the tire slightly is it makes it easier to run the reamer in and out of the tire. After you ream the tire leave the reamer in the tire and prepare your plug patch with the plug insertion tool then pull out the reamer and quickly insert the plug into the tire. Then check air pressure and adjust it to the what ever pressure you want. By doing the ream and the plug with slightly over inflated tire the ream and insertion tool will go into the tire easier and it is less strain for you fighting to get the tools into the repair area of the tire.
Great GREAT ADVICE. 🎉
I have a lawn service some tires have 4 plugs in them LOL
Great job. Pray God bless your Homestead
Thank you. 🙏
