Dream Driving Tours
Приєднався 28 вер 2011
DDT provides one and two-day driving adventures around Wales. Meet great people, share your passion for cars, and experience the best roads in the country. All without breaking the bank.
When not running tours, I can be found working on cars. Usually breaking more than I fix. But it's the only way to learn. And it's fun.

I need to get a spare clutch cable, for sure. I carry most of the other items but certainly not all. You keep a LOT with you.
I like to be prepared, especially when taking a long trip. I didn't actually ever need anything other than a clutch cable and some basic tools though.
@@DreamDrivingTours my buddy had an A-H 3000. I remember seeing a spare generator in his box of spare parts.
Don't you need lessons as to how to drive these cars safely? Is there much to learn?
Some great explanations ..very interesting
Hey I have a K series with dry sump. My pump leaks, too. Where was your pump rebuilt UND how much did it cost?
There is a local Caterham specialist in South Wales. It was not a cheap job as I had all parts either replaced or fully refurbished and blueprinted. Well worth it though.
What engine and year is this?
It's a 2002 Rover K-series VHPD engine, meaning it has forged pistons / rods and the bigger valve head etc.
Nothing like the sound of a well tuned engine , you can almost feel every single horsepower . I stood in the chassis dyno room when my Locost SR20 DET was getting tuned to 184 RWKW , it was a bit like standing close to the speakers at a heavy metal concert .
I have the same V70 with the same heater problem. The heater fan will only run if I drive the car until the engine is hot, then turn the engine off and then restart it. The fan then begins to run and continues to do so. The controller lights flash amber when the fan is not running. I have not been able to clear the codes. Please can you tell me if you had any success after you made this video?
I'll give u £6k for it
That was fun!
Cause they're GOOD for the SOUL ! that's why i got mine ,( and life is too short ) .I'm about to go for a blast in mine ,thanks for the reminder & the inspiration .No better way to turn fuel into PLEASURE .😉
Where are you at today with the car?
You need a proper spark plug socket, that has a rubber gromet inside it.
“If you want to buy something that’s a little bit spicy, get a borescope” Spicy indeed 😂 6:48
@ 5:24 it wasn't the wheat bix, it was the switch on the dash. I won't check that option when ordering my car. 🤣
Avez vous posseder une westfield yellow?
Mpg please 😉
Best I've seen is 44mpg on a run but usually get 32-34mpg.
Same reason why I own motorbikes, maybe one day the kids will be independent and I can invest again in myself 😅
I need to do this for next yr ...But 1st i need to buy a Catergam .not had one before .want more a tourer with power .and comfort . So much choice. Not a boy racer am 60 had 1600 sigma engine would prefer Duratec 2L . Undecided ..looked at power then Supersport . Not a hacked old racer .not for me. Looked 270S to 310R e60 R and back at 175 Supersport want heater half hood 12v USB any ideas .Thankyou . Love the vids watched a few ..I only do 2500 miles a yr so could be a 70% use daily
Nice car! Your neighbours are extremely too close, these houses are were built too close to each other. At leaset they dont seem to be 'terraced' which is even worse because then you would be sharing a thin brick wall . . .
City living...
The sensor on the radiator is the thermostatic fan switch which controls when your radiator fan turns on/off. The small sensor on the rail is the sender for the dial and the brown connection is the coolant temp sensor for the ecu
Did you manage to fix the matrix or get a replacement? Either way, did you manage to reinstall it OK?
I ended up getting a new car. I had the same issue with that. Managed to remove the matrix, have new seals fitted, and refitted. Easy enough job. It's the bleeding that takes the time without a vacuum filler.
I have one too and also will never part with it. Purchased 2 years ago and have done over 90 jobs to it, they are very special little hot hatches and incredible fun.
Have you driven an MX5? If so, how does it compare? 😃
I have a seven 165 with Suzuki engine and it does not need any maintenance or spare parts ;)
i want one of those but they don't come to US
This is a great video. Very informative
Yes, yes they can. And first time no less.
I'm going to hire a caterham first before any type of purchase. If I do get one it be a K series or a super sprint, if not a mk indy or westfield, ect..
Induction sounds nice,is it straight pipe exhaust? Overlooked these but 🤔🤔🤔 hmmm😏😏😏
Nice video and a lovely spec car 👌🏻
very nice Caterham
He’s back! 🎉 and wow, that’s gonna make you stand out on the road! 🍊😂
O.T.T. Just take your RAC membership card, hat & sunglasses.
"Life is short!", the same reason I have mine.
Oil pressure reading low. Either a problem with the engine, sump foam disintegrated and blocking pick up pipe or more likely the poor quality sender has given up. Best to swap to a mechanical gauge.
The brake light switch is not squeezed on application of brakes but is sprung loaded and released on application of brakes. Your brake pedal has an R clip in the clevis pin. This should be replaced by a split pin as the R clip has been known to fail. There was a factory recall on early cars for this.
That oil pressure looks really low @0.35
The gauge reads low - on my list to move to a mechanical gauge!
Spare rear springs? All that extra weight…?
Great vid. Looking a RS200 myself, just hard to find a 172,182, 197 that hasn't been ragged, modded to hell and back or already converted to a track car.
Obviously CGI it has never been blue skies in Wales for whole day.
Caterhams are the best aren't they! 🤗
at 5:06 I love my Caterham dash. It is so much better than anything mass produced. Each to their own.
Sounds eminently sensible to me, ok, maybe for some it may seem too much to carry but hey, why not be prepared. Having grown up with British engineered cars precautions are a habit. Thanks for the video I am hoping to buy an old Caterham, so all very helpful..
Llangynidr moors I see, local to me I have a Fisher fury great roads
Auf Sardinien bin ich ein paar Fahrern mit Chaterham 7 begegnet. Diese Dinger sind einfach genial. Selbst mit einem ernsthaften Motorrad waren die nicht so ganz einfach zu überholen.
How’s the mpg in your Caterham?
So you want to tell us that caterham is trash? And will probably break on every ride? Just asking, because wanted to buy one for myself but no clue about working on cars.
Sounds like the car is unreliable with all the accessories one would have to carry
you might wanna carry pistons, valves and a camshaft for when the day comes you shift the wrong gear. maybe even an engine block to be safe as well.
19th: I pull a second whole new caterham in case anything breaks on my First, and yes it will be much
Seems like it'd be simpler to have a car transporter carrying a spare Caterham 7 following behind you on every trip. Just in case.
