Waldemar Kolbusz is an Australian visual artist who lives and works in Perth, and has been painting full-time and exhibiting regularly for the past two decades.
With a practice that alternates between abstract and more figurative painting, Kolbusz’s works come naturally charged with a high energy. His large and richly painted canvases pulsate and move, creating an ongoing dialogue with the works. Kolbusz works in a fluid way, often resolving numerous paintings simultaneously, and whilst a significant shift in thinking is required to move between the different genres, his cerebral approach informs and nourishes the work; allowing freedom in the figurative works and giving shape to the abstract.
Kolbusz’ paintings have been commissioned for major projects Australia-wide and collected nationally and internationally. His works are included in corporate collections around the country.

LOVE IS BACK by Waldemar Kolbusz presents in a climate of emotional maximalism, in which romance and joy are oversaturated and oversold to the extent that whatever original sensations might have existed, are now replaced. Relationships are mined for their honeymoon periods, then thrown away. The sensation of enjoyment begins to feel more of an appeal: I am in love.
If you have ever had relatively meaningless sex with someone you appeared to be obsessed with only recently, you should recognise the husk of attachment I’m talking about. The exhibition isolates these tensions, considering which impressions might be truly our own.

I’m british and very frontal lobe ,I have to know exactly what I’m painting,how the shapes relate ,contrast ,form ,solidity ,near far ,ect ,it has to be about something that has stayed in my memory in the last days ,the human experience ,good or bad is recorded from memory .
