@@jon.bennett I’ve only ever heard good things about the Engels mate. I know they aren’t very budget friendly but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Maybe I should start saving up for one now 🤔

Hi mate, I didn't have any major dramas before cleaning out the manifold, just wanted to stay on maintenance and give it a good clean out before it got any worse.

Hey mate I just did the intake clean on my 1HDFTE yesterday. 430,000km motor. The clean improved the motor's breathing massively, I was actually surprised how much difference it made. I noticed a lot less "rev hang" between gear changes and the motor definitely pulls harder and revs more freely. Definitely a great job to get done

Just completed the same operation, also found a leaking manifold gasket, which would have dropped boost pressure couple of psi.

I agree Darren, I know for next time now 😂. To be honest it was a very straight forward job and I wouldn’t have any concerns doing it again. I strongly believe Toyotas are one of the easiest vehicles to service/repair.

G’day Tom, it was a full days job mate, cleaning the manifold thoroughly was time consuming. I also did valve clearances and installed the catch can, if you have a look through my previous videos you’ll see it 😆 Well worth the effort, she’s never run better and EGT’s improved too.

@@cruisintime2323 Yeah rightio I should probably think about putting aside a day to give it a good clean. And what about the EGR blocking plate that you don't have installed 😉, does it have any other gains other than a reduction in soot build up?

@@tomyork1145 definitely worth the effort mate, mine only had 95,000km when I did the clean and you saw how clogged it was. After half a mil km I’d imagine there would be a fair amount of soot build up on yours. Hard to say if I made any power gains but definitely feels more responsive and the EGTs came down a significant amount 👌

Hi Dan, the bungee cord works well mate, it’ll obviously wear out over time and need replacement. I wasn’t keen on trying it with a ratchet strap as I think it needs to have some movement in the frame during big wind gusts, I may eventually try a ratchet strap if the cord wears out soon 👍

I bought this. Swapped for a rope ratchet from bunnings straight away. I was not happy with the play with the occy. Much better and more rigid.

@@dancotter7050 Does the ratchet strap tighten up the awning better? Looks like water would pool if using the occcy.

@@ILLMATICBF If you've got the Motop tent I'd be sticking with their awning, the bracket system is very straight forward to install, they're also pretty much the same price.

It is illegal to close EGR valve in Australia :(

G'day Will, you might have the wires mixed up where it taps into the dimmer switch, I remember having the same issue when I first connected mine. You can check which is the correct wire by using a multimeter and adjusting the dimmer switch up and down, you will see the voltage change on the multimeter as you adjust the switch. Hope this makes sense, cheers mate.
