    Regarding "meritocracy" and the 1960s, I think the same about how many think about "free speech". The popular idea that before taboos around identity (and especially race) rose in the 1960s, people could say absolutely anything they like in absolutely any context with absolutely no social, let along legal, penalties is batshit. Google "Lenny Bruce arrests" for an introduction to this debunking.

    With all due respect I felt like Anna was a little too quick to interrupt Jacob sometimes. Maybe it's just because I was listening with sped up audio, but it made it hard to follow the conversation, and I felt like he was always getting interrupted right before he was about to say something interesting.

    40:30 "the discourse can't help you" just seems plain wrong. sure, getting trapped in the discourse is pointless; but people struggle with repeatedly getting the same bad outcomes - "friendzoning" is not an entirely fake idea! getting exposed to the ideas that there are patterns in what the other gender finds attractive, that most likely those patterns do not match what you were told is the attractive behaviour, that's helpful. and part of the discourse
