The swimming pool featured in these episodes is based at Childwall Technical College which at this time was being massively re-purposed and redeveloped by Mersey TV as Brookside sets (the yet to appear Parade being the most obvious). Later on, one half of this pool was used for the health spa in Brookside, and the other side was used in Hollyoaks.

I don’t know what eating disorder service Katie went to, but from personal experience I can say they are not at all like that!! No NHS psychologist is that informal, well not the ones I’ve met. “Let’s be mates”….haha. Katie’s eating disorder was extremely mild tho…like it lasted a month or two🙄

What's quite interesting about this production era of Brookside is that Mersey TV had just bought Childwall Technical College (well, in 1988), and literally every scene that is filmed outside of Brookside Close is filmed in an area of the old college building and its extensive grounds. Character's work offices, school scenes, mock public building exteriors, literally everything was filmed there! These buildings all went on to become the sets for Brookside's sister soap, Hollyoaks, from 1995 onwards. These 1991 episodes show Geoff Rogers, Mike, Chrissie (1:40:55) at "Brookside Comprehensive", in reality, they're outside the old college building - actually on the opposide side of the old college wing that became the Parade. Further down on the left, just after Geoff enters the building, is what became "Grants" restaurant. Anyone recognise this antiquated looking brick wall with its feature archways (1:39:08) at Manor Primary School...? They're fake walls of course, and they became the historical boundary walls of "Hollyoaks Village" a few years later and the archways were moved along with the wall.

Jimmy said Susan Clarke was in Year 8, yet Emily Shadwick is in Year 10 (she's nearly 15) and claims Susan is in her year - the scriptwriters really don't think things through. Matthew Farnham and Gemma Johnson both started secondary school when they were 10. A few years later Adele Murray was so clever she skipped Year 11.
