Thank you for this video. I didn't have a problem with the solenoid but you REALLY helped me by explaining the re-assembly of the console/hardware. I could not get mine apart without breaking something so I watched your video and got the info I really needed. So, thank you. Someone should make UA-cam videos just about how-to access, remove, and replace trim pieces to gain access to critical areas. Yours is excellent for this. THANKS

Great video, I just want to mention that if you want your max timing to come in sooner than the lightest springs ex. 2 light silver brings your total timing in at around 2400rpm on the red bushing. You can actually just run one spring on one side because the advance weight have to move together they don't need springs on both sides, this will bring your total timing in roughly about half the RPM ex. 1 silver spring will bring in total timing at 1200rpm. This is if you really want snappy hotrod timing but still want nice starting unlike a fully locked out distributor with fixed timing. However tuning your curve is important and since you are running a heavy 3500 truck instead of a lighter muscle car it might not hurt to have your total timing to come in later like you have it depending how you want your set up. Hope this helps.

The smallest bushing actually is the slowest advance

Hey, it is my understanding that the bushing does not affect the speed of the advance only the total amount of advance sweep that the distributor will go through. ex. red bushing allows for around 28° of advance, Silver 25° etc. so initial advance of 10° plus the silver will give you 35° of total timing 10°+ 25° = 35° of total timing and the spring is what actually what controls how fast it reaches your total timing. This is my understanding of it

@@teagank2826 the least amount your weights have to open between havn a lighter spring and a big bushing more and more intial timing will be your fastest sweep

No, it appears that my old truck was not good with digital signals. i have tried to install 3 different components from 3 different manufactures all with a digital signal. i even brought my truck to one of the manufactures and they were not able to make it work either. I replaced the distributer with an Accel and it has been working great. makes me think my truck will only work with analog signal components. I was informed that ANY loose or bad connection on the ground or positive side could cause issues. just a heads up.

Hello, Is the magnetic pickup wire able to be changed with the distributor installed and not having to remove all the parts??

you will need to disassemble everything to replace your pick-up coil.
