It is the "Officers" (Joke) who CAUSE these collisions /accidents - the Standards /Training is so LOW. Lack of proper Maintenance is another contributing Factor. The Merchant Navy/Merchant Marine throughout the WORLD is PLAGUED with these MORONS but Companies STILL employ them because of the low wages ! Totally False Economy.

There needs to be alot more regulations for these shipping companies and their ships plus training. Im a U.S. Merchant Mariner and I have never seen shit like this. This is ridiculous! There needs to be serious inspections of these ships and must be forced to head to maintenance on vital areas of the vessels and accountability here. I feel so sorry for the lives lost families. These were all preventable.
I have been in these ferry’s, old ships, faulty wiring in some instances. A smaller ferry capsized at the dock because a truck shifted to one side. I am always concerned about fire on these boats. Every ship is tracked by GPS these days, no reason for a collision if a competent licensed seaman is at the helm! It’s all about corruption in the Philippines.
