A lil' background: The scene at 3.46 where you see a warrior falls down to his knees with a flag or banner in his hand.. that was Ashwathaama(Amitabh B.) between 5000-3000 BC at the kurukshetra war in mahabharata towards the end of Dwaparyuga.. Satyuga and Dwaparyuga witnessed larger than life warriors with divine powers.. In this scene Ashwathama breaks down by seeing the destruction and loss of lives at the Kurukshetra battlefield. Ashwathama was a the son of Guru Dhronacharya who was a great warrior and was the teacher to both Pandavas and Kauravas.. Ashwathama was born with a gem on his forehead.. The kurukshetra war was between the Pandavas and Kauravas, 2 divisions from within the same Royal family for the Kingdom of Indraprasta and the injustice done to Pandavas by Kauravas.. Ashwathama had fought this war from Kauravas side. At the end of the war Pandavas had won and a frustrated and jealous and furious Ashwathama killed all the children of Pandavas.. He was almost abt to destroy the world with the Brahmastra that was blessed on him by the Gods.. But It was Sage Vyasa and Lord Krishna the 9th reincarnation then of Lord Vishnu who had stopped Ashwathaama by cutting out the gem from his forehead and cursing him to roam earth for eternity with a bleeding wound.. after the end of Dwaparyuga began the Kaliyuga where we are now.. it is towards the last phase of Kaliyuga that cruelty and injustice and evil will be at its highest peak.. this is when Lord Vishnu will decend to our mortal world through his 10th reincarnation KALKI who in this trailer is in the womb of Deepika Padukone.. Ashwathama's only salvation to be relieved from his agonizing neverending life is to protect Lord Kalki.. like Ashwathama, there are 7 more immortals walking on this earth now.. and they will all come together to protect Lord Kalki and be at his side.. By the way Prabhas here is Bhairava (an avatar of Lord Shiva and the protector of the city KASHI).. He will learn of Kalki and he will eventually become his follower.. At the end of Kaliyug the war will be between Lord Kalki and Kali (Kamal Hassan). This has been written in our Hindu holy scriptures between 3000 to 2000 BC.. They have even mentioned the names of Lord Kalki's parents and the place where he'll be born.. They say he will come riding on a white horse which can take any form.. and he will carry a sword and he will annahilate all evil and restore Dharma (righteousness).

Let me explain why Indian audience is damn eager for this: In Hinduism, there are 4 Yugas (Eras). Satya Yuga (Golden Age) Treta Yuga (Silver Age) Dwapar Yuga (Copper Age) and Kali Yuga (Iron Age). The level of wickedness, badness and misery in world increases in every consecutive Yuga. As years pass, one Yug ends and another begins. Ramayan happened in Treta Yug. Mahabharat happened in Dwapar Yug. Currently we are in the Kali Yug (2024 AD). Now the interesting part, The Yugas aren't linear, they are in a circle like a clock, the end of Kali Yug would begin the Satya Yug. But as Satya Yuga is the holiest of all and Kaliyug the unholiest, the transition of these two Yugas won't be the same as the other pairs. When this happens, the Universe will face an entire wipe out and only the good souls will survive that will carry on the Satya Yuga once again. It is like a circle of life.What begins will end, and the end will bring a new beginning! There are more details of each Yuga in ancient Indian Scriptures (Vedaas, Puraanas, etc.), how they were, what were the timelines, how were the humans then, etc. Now, coming to the movie... You need to know that in these four Yugas, to maintain the balance and prove the victory of goodness vs evil (Dharma vs Adharma), Lord Vishnu, the Proprietor of the Universe incarnates in the mortal world for 10 times, called the 10 Avatars or Dashavatar (There are many more but 10 are mainly known in the Scriptures). Here are the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu in order: 1. Matsya: The fish avatar, said to have rescued the first man, Vaivasvata Manu, and the seven sages during the great flood. 2. Kurma: The tortoise avatar, who helped the gods and demons churn the ocean of milk to obtain the nectar of immortality. 3. Varaha: The boar avatar, who rescued the goddess Earth from the demon Hiranyaksha. 4. Narasimha: The half-man, half-lion avatar, who killed the demon Hiranyakashyap. 5. Vamana: The dwarf avatar, who defeated the demon king Mahabali. 6. Parashurama: The axe-wielding avatar, who destroyed the demon king Kartavirya Arjuna and his sons. 7. Rama: The prince of Ayodhya, who defeated the demon king Ravana and his brother Kumbhakarna. 8. Krishna: The divine prince of Mathura, who defeated the demon king Kansa and his allies. 9. Buddha: The enlightened one, who taught the path of non-violence and self-realization. 10. Kalki: The future avatar, who is said to appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to bring about a new era of peace and prosperity. Note: Some sources may vary in their listing of the avatars, but the above is the most commonly accepted order. Avatar is an Indian (Sanskrit) word. Dharma means righteousness and not religion here!. You guys must have heard about Shree Ram, Shree Krishn and The Buddha. They were the 7th, 8th and 9th Avatars of Lord Vishnu. Depending on necessities, He incarnated with different qualities and forms. In Treta Yug, Shree Ram established Dharma by defeating Ravan and establishing Ram Rajya, the rule of peace. In Dwapar Yug, Shree Krishn defeated Kans to protect his region, and his role in the Great Mahabharat to establishDharm is known by you. Interestingly, till today, only 9 Avatars have been born and completed their goals. The 10th and last avatar of Lord Vishnu was prophecised to come at the end of Kali Yug to establish Dharm once again and this destruction will start the Satya Yuga once again. The name of this Avatar will be Kalki. Even the birthplace and names of parents are mentioned in the Holy Scriptures of Hinduism. This movie is based on the place, where Shambhapur will see the birth of Kalki (in the womb of Deepika). Amitabh Bachchan's character is of Ashwatthama, one of the 7 Chiranjeevi of the world, who was cursed by Shree Krishn at the end of Mahabharat to be Chiranjeevi and suffer. He and the other 6 Chiranjeevi including Hanuman will pave the way for Kalki to reach his destination to defeat Kali, the demon. The Chiranjeevi are a group of seven immortals in Hindu Scriptures, who are said to have lived for thousands of years and are believed to possess supernatural powers. (Immortal in the scene thatthey have long life span not unkillable, btw they are very strong, super human strong like the super man so it's very unlikely that anyone can kill them!) According to Hindu scriptures, these immortals will remain alive until the end of the Kali Yuga, the current era of time. The 7 Chiranjeevi: 1. Parashurama: The sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, known for his knowledge of all astras and shastras. He is said to reemerge at the end of time to be the martial guru of Kalki, the final avatar of Lord Vishnu. 2. Ashwatthama: The son of Dronacharya, a great warrior and teacher. He was gifted with a gem on his forehead by Lord Shiva and possesses divine powers. 3. Hanuman: The devoted follower of Lord Rama and a key figure in the Ramayana. He is said to be immortal and will remain alive until the end of the Kali Yuga. 4. Kripa: A great warrior and a teacher of the Pandavas. He is said to possess supernatural powers and is believed to be immortal. 5. Vibhishana: The brother of Ravana and the king of Lanka. He is said to have been given the blessing of a long life by Lord Rama and will remain alive until the end of the Kali Yuga. 6. Bali: A king of the asuras and a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He is said to be immortal and will remain alive until the end of the Kali Yuga. 7. Vyasa: A great sage and the author of the Mahabharata and the Puranas. He is said to be immortal and will remain alive until the end of the Kali Yuga. These seven immortals are believed to possess supernatural powers and are said to play a crucial role in the events leading up to the end of the Kali Yuga and the beginning of the Satya Yuga, the next era of time. This movie has the backdrop of a very core subject which is close to us Indians and that's why, people will definitely appreciate it. I'll say a very interesting fact at the last: 1. It is believed that in Satya Yuga, good and evil were in different worlds, Devta (Demigods) in Devlok and Asuras (demons) in Asurlok... 2. The woman you see standing on the balcony and getting hit by the arrow is the mother of the present.. She is uttara, the mother of the last Pandav and wife of lord Krishna nephew Abhimanyu .. When she is pregnant aswathama ( amithab character).. attacks her womb and kills her child, afterwards lord Krishna revives the child and cursed aswathama, to love till eternity without any power untill the end of kaliyug which we are currently living .. He will now repent himself by saving another pregnant lady who is the moyher of the last avatar of lord Vishnu aka kalki.. Aswathama character complete the full circle in this story

He wasn't cursed with the gem, ashwatthama was born with the gem which provides him special power and you can see in this trailer a womens womb gets hit with a light which is nothing but ashwatthama hiting her with bramhastra (weapon) and he disnt hit her on purpose he was just unskilled to stop the attack after it was released and it killed the baby but krishna gave the baby another life and cursed ashwathama to live till the end of kaliyuga with pain and suffering and his wonds wont heal and destroyed his gem from his forhead from which blood will keep flowing but in the movie we dont know how he got his gem back since in mahabharata it was destroyed
