Congratulations, I am very happy for you both.
Cool!
Looking forward to your adventure.
Thanks for the videos. Had my doubts about doing this trail, heard it’s too muddy, too rocky, too rainy, but after seeing your movies ltappears no worse than any other trail, they all have their challenges. Thanks for showing as much of the trail conditions as you did, that helps a lot. 😊
Hi Bro! Pretty impressive on the money-food value idea. It brings me back to my early days of backpacking in the late 1960's when you showed the mac/cheese. The tortillas were a nice touch. I've never heard of 'instant' turkey stuffing though? Is it just regular stuffing mix? Also was wondering if that rolled oats mix is for cooking, or eating as is? Do uncooked oats have good digestion/nutrition? I've heard of just soaking them before eating without cooking, but never just dry/raw. Happy trails, man!
Yay! Congratulations!
When you have a lighter and paracord just loop the cord where you want to separate it and use your lighter to burn it in half and it will also seal the ends at the same time. I've been doing this since the 60's and it works well.
Congrats Tim and Megan!! So happy for y'all. UA-cam pushed this to my homepage, for good reason! Also this looked like a tough hike! Did _not_ envy y'all working through those loose rocks on the descent. 😅
Happy engagement you two!! and thank you for the wonderful footage!
Congratulations you two! We were kinda hoping that would be the 'life change' when we saw the title of the video 😁. You two are an awesome couple and we wish you all the best and many more mountains to climb for your future (though maybe less slippy screet ones 😉)
Whooo!!!! What an amazing trip that was!! I love you, Fiancé 😆😝😚
Congratulations!
Congratulations! That was such a sweet moment. Thank you for sharing with us. We've missed you guys!
Thanks Kate!!
Looking back at my hike through your hike. I slept in the ski patrol cabin on top of Mad River, which was very nice. My dog Maggie had no issue getting down those rebar stairs. Burnt mountain and Ladder Ravine were much more of a challenge for her. I carried her down the ladder. Take care
Ladder Ravine was cool but not so much with my 47 pound hound mix. I brought some climbing rope, harness and we made it happen. Burnt Rock Mountain I needed to short leash her. Some serious drops. Doing Burnt Rock and Camels Hump in one day is very impressive. We broke the two up. I was dreading the down climb or Camels Hump but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. The section from Lincoln Gap down Camels Hump was a great section. My knees were feeling it though for sure. Ice was surly welcomed.
The man who cut that firewood showed up the night I camped there. He brought some more in. His friend owned a post and beam and log cabin business and he would give him the scraps. He drove his ATV there. He was super nice and I think his name was John. That climb out off route 103 was a grind. I ran into a young man who was super fit and he had done the AT, PCT and the Colorado Trail. He was doing big miles in the Northern section 23 to 25 and he said 23 miles on the LT was much more difficult than 40 on the PCT.
They are replacing that shelter with a new one this fall. I guess they are doing a major upgrade. That was definitely a grinding first day. I think first days often are.
I just rewatched a bunch of your videos. I was reliving my own adventure through your videos, thanks so much for taking the time to make them and document your own adventure. I could not agree more with you about the LT, it was a wonderful adventure and nothing like the brutal trail I had seen in other peoples videos. When I decided to hike the trail I watched a bunch of videos and one man went on a all long rant about how terrible the trail was. He did it last year when we had record rains. My trip weather wise was very much like your own. Take care Tim and thanks for sharing. I am thinking of the Colorado Trail next year.
What are you going to ware on your legs when it is cold and wet.
Nothing at all! In my experience in Vermont that time of year pants are not necessary. Ofcourse that will be dependant on each person's risk/cold tolerances.
What a Team….
My wife is from Texas and we go there a few times a year to visit. Any advice for a first time visit and also to someone from New England who is used to lots of water and cold, not so much on heat. What is the best time of year to visit and what trail would you do. Strange thing is none of her family have ever been there and I seem to be the only one interested in going there. Looks nice. Thanks
Is Megan wearing the mask for bugs or is it that cold?
For the cold, and dust!
@@TimHikes Thanks
Stunning, that is an incredible hike for sure. Thanks for sharing
So 34 is cold? That’s funny.
Haha, it is indeed! Atleast for our Texas sensibilities! Haha
How did that new pack work out. I always hear good things about that pack and people love them.
Yes! It worked very well! It was a 270 mile trip, im still not convinced if it would hold up on a full through hike!
@@TimHikes I think as things get lighter the durability is reduced. I have a few packs and my heavier Osprey is more durable than my Granite Gear and certainly more than my Zpacks, but it’s also much heavier. I think my Granite Gear pack is right in the middle and it also carries weight well. It was also the least expensive. Take care
That is a very cool trail for sure.
Washington state looks incredibly beautiful. I love the vastness. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations, what was your start date and end date. Awesome job.
No foot update?
Who is Tuska? Is she your mom? Just wondering, she is awesome. All filters are great in the beginning. They are like relationships, great in the beginning and they slowly fade.
Taska! She is our good friend! We met her on day One of the trail back at the Mexican boarder! You can go back and watch the first few episodes and see her!
@@TimHikes I have watched all of the episodes up to this point but I must have missed her. She is awesome for sure. Take care
We call it Vitamin I, a hiker's best friend.
I am a big fan of Deet. None of the other solutions i have tried just don't work for me.
You two make a great team.
The entire park is stunning. Down in the valley is where the massive waterfalls are located. Along with the truly big walls.
What was your start date? Seems like your making good progress.
I think Yosemite is the prettiest park I have ever been to. Back in the day early 80s I would travel from New England to California and spend the whole summer camped in the park and rock climb all the time. Its a magical place for sure.
When you get older you will dread the down hills much more than climbing. I can climb all day it's the downs, I fear.
That pack looks super massive. That is an incredibly beautiful camp spot. Just perfect.
The 150 would have been money well spent. Greatest fishing, I have ever experienced. One fifty in the big picture is nothing but I get it. Did you carry the Bear Vault the entire trip?
Do you wear one size up on your shoes? My Sawyer has been great. I am sure the desert and poor water quality has taken a toll. Time will tell on your love of the new filter. Thirty-nine years ago, while camped in the backcountry of Yosemite I woke up and found someone's bear bag it had been ripped open and empty two feet from the front of my tent. Bears were a real issue even back then.
Congratulations. What a way to celebrate the 4th. Awesome
I knew Texas I had lot of wind farms. According to Google Texas is the number one wind energy producer in the country and number five in the world. Are there any where you live?
Kindness goes a long way.
Just wondering how many days of food do you generally carry?
It really depends on how far it is till the next resupply oppertunity. In general I would say 4 or 5 days at a time! Rarely did we have oppertunity to carry less than that
@@TimHikes thanks looks like you both had a great time.
Congrats, Tim! Great to meet ya out there! Gotta love the 'ol YT algorithm haha. -Littlefoot
It was great to meet you as well! Hope you enjoyed the last days of your adventure as well!! And yes, sounds like it was helping me out! Haha
Now for those of you wondering... yes, this is in fact the Jordan Peele Nope movie set!!!!
Congratulations Tim. Another thru hike in the books. What’s next?
Not sure yet! Any ideas?
@@TimHikes I know the CDT would be a huge undertaking, and it would take a good amount of your time, but that would be awesome 🤩. If not, there is the COHOS trail in NH. It’s pretty new. You can check it out. I mention this trail because I’m thinking that you might have ties to this area.
If I’m not mistaken, the blue wildflowers are iris. Yes, a documentary is a good idea. Congratulations on completing another thru-hike and thank you for sharing the adventure!
Ofcourse! Thank you for watching and commenting on so many videos Linda! I'm really happy you enjoy following along with my adventures!
Congratulations on your finish, I enjoyed your videos thank you for sharing.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your adventure. Yes those pipes are for snow making. Jay is known for big snow, on a good year 450 plus. Jay is also known for great tree-glade skiing. In the winter that can me the coldest mountain in Vermont. Take care
