    Do what works best for you. I choose not adding leaves to prevent unwanted pest.

      It is powdered eggshell powder (white) and cornmeal (the yellow). The eggshell is used for their grit and I use cornmeal to diversify their meals.

    My market puts "organic" stickers on the organic produce! I tried pointing out to them that maybe it would be more logical to put a sticker onnonorganic. They didn't agree! ~ Sandra

    Can you share what you learned/figured out and if the extra carbon helped? I’ve always done my vermicomposting on the ground which is less technical due to the fact that they can escape any inhospitable conditions, however I’m doing a bin over winter and id like to be able to troubleshoot like you’re doing. Thanks a lot!

    • @princessgardenswormfarm
      @princessgardenswormfarm 5 місяців тому

      Absolutely!! So I never figured out why they were stressed but after refreshing the bin (just added some fresh carbon) and added some kitchen scraps 2 days later they were back to their normal happy healthy selves.

    My worms are fine, BUT I got injured June 17 and haven't fully recovered. That means I've been negligent feeding and harvesting all summer. The worms turned their bins into beautiful castings and now the castings are getting muddy. <sigh> I'm going to work some powdered leaves into the material to break it up. I've already put in some dry leaves to get the process started. It's so tough to get the worms out of muddy castings! ~ Sandra

    Healthy bins and healthy worms! I've never seen that wax in a bin before. We buy or grow mostly organic, but there are some veggies we can't get organic here. What vegetables do you think use a wax coating? I'm in British Columbia, so we have no problem growing our own apples. I'm thinking those might be the culprits. New sub! ~ Sandra

    Tote method great! Good video keep it up! You can implement shredded cardboard w/coco mix! The worms can live on carbon (brown leaves, cardboard Coco coir). Your doing a good job on monitor moisture 60%> and not to overfeed on food scapes waste. Optimum temperature 24-27c or 75-82f. The Force ✝️ Is Strong 💪 in you 🙌.
