Do what works best for you. I choose not adding leaves to prevent unwanted pest.
What are you sprinkling on top?
It is powdered eggshell powder (white) and cornmeal (the yellow). The eggshell is used for their grit and I use cornmeal to diversify their meals.
Congratulations! ~ Sandra
Thank you!
❤
My market puts "organic" stickers on the organic produce! I tried pointing out to them that maybe it would be more logical to put a sticker onnonorganic. They didn't agree! ~ Sandra
I definitely agree with you. Them having to do that may encourage them to bring in my organic options!!
But have you named all your worms yet
I call them Willow 😁
@@princessgardenswormfarm love it
What was the powder ?
Crushed egg shells for grit for the worms aid with digestion
It is powdered eggshell. It offers grit for the worms as the process kitchen scraps.
Magical! I just got several hundred ENC babies as well. ~ Sandra
Gotta love the growth!!
Worms make the best pets - they don't mind if we leave them alone for a while (I actually think they preferred it!). 🤗 ~ Sandra
I totally agree 🙂🪱✨
Thanks so much for posting this!!
My pleasure!
Nicdee
Thank you!
👍👍📚
These look like valuable resources. Sounds like "feed the soil, not the plants"! Thanks for sharing. I'm reading published research from worm scientists. ~ Sandra
Happy 🪱’s no doubt 😊
Yes indeed!! Thank you!
Can you share what you learned/figured out and if the extra carbon helped? I’ve always done my vermicomposting on the ground which is less technical due to the fact that they can escape any inhospitable conditions, however I’m doing a bin over winter and id like to be able to troubleshoot like you’re doing. Thanks a lot!
Absolutely!! So I never figured out why they were stressed but after refreshing the bin (just added some fresh carbon) and added some kitchen scraps 2 days later they were back to their normal happy healthy selves.
Too hot
My worms are fine, BUT I got injured June 17 and haven't fully recovered. That means I've been negligent feeding and harvesting all summer. The worms turned their bins into beautiful castings and now the castings are getting muddy. <sigh> I'm going to work some powdered leaves into the material to break it up. I've already put in some dry leaves to get the process started. It's so tough to get the worms out of muddy castings! ~ Sandra
I how this season went more smooth for you and your worms!!
Thank you - I fully recovered and my worms are getting lots of TLC! ~ Sandra
Healthy bins and healthy worms! I've never seen that wax in a bin before. We buy or grow mostly organic, but there are some veggies we can't get organic here. What vegetables do you think use a wax coating? I'm in British Columbia, so we have no problem growing our own apples. I'm thinking those might be the culprits. New sub! ~ Sandra
Thank you for joining the community!! My apologies, I am just seeing your comment. Yes, it is the wax, likely from an apple.
Your bins are looking fantastic!!🪱🪱🪱
Thank you so much!!
Love what you’re doing!!!!💗🪱💗🪱💗
Thank you so much!☺️
Nice! I'm just starting my first bin and been watching your videos to help me out. I was wondering how to harvest so thanks alot😊
☺️ You’re welcome; I’m glad they are helpful! Good luck on your journey. Feel free to reach out if you ever have questions.
Love it. Great job 💜
Thank you!! 🪱✨
My bins are doing well, but this is some valuable information. Thanks!😊
I’m happy to hear they are thriving!! You’re welcome!!
Your bin looks great. 🙂
Thank you!!
When they form a ball like that it’s because they are too cold and trying to warm each other up
Thank you!!
I thought they did that when they breed
In this instance they are stressed.
they make that bowl because they are not happy with the light.
Thank you!
Last time mine crawled away was due to foul smell caused by overfeeding. Hope you found your reason
Excellent video of Husbandry Farming skills you are strong 💪 well said. Keep doing it! I am the Black Soldier Fly Man. God bless and Jesus is Lord!
God Bless!! Thank you so much!! Ill be sure to give you a follow.
Bins are looking good!!🪱🪱🪱
Thank you!!😊
Tote method great! Good video keep it up! You can implement shredded cardboard w/coco mix! The worms can live on carbon (brown leaves, cardboard Coco coir). Your doing a good job on monitor moisture 60%> and not to overfeed on food scapes waste. Optimum temperature 24-27c or 75-82f. The Force ✝️ Is Strong 💪 in you 🙌.
Thank you!!
Thank you so much, this was very helpful :)
You're most welcome!! I'm glad it was helpful!

Nice video my friend. New followers from Indonesia
Thank you!! Welcome to the community!!
Awe poor babies just cuddling for comfort! Did you ever figure out what was stressing them out?
Their bin was a bit dry so I’m thinking that’s what it was. They are diverting waste like rockstars again!!
Watching from San Diego Watching recording. Just starting my verimicompost journey setting up my first bin. Will be using tye Hungry Bin.
I hope you have been successful on your vermicomposting journey!! Let me know if you have any questions!!
Dear add dripping watering systerm to it the soil seem dry
Yes it was the end of the day. I’ll have to find one because it’s my balcony. Please link if you have suggestions!!
@@princessgardenswormfarm I am enjoying your channel which I've just found today 🪱🫑🥦🥬🥗❤🪱
Bruh that’s Rosemary not hyssop
In the thumbnail? Grow in the bucket is definitely hyssop. I kill Rosemary so if you have some tips on growing it; please send help!!
It is hyssop (hyssopus officinalis) which is different than anise hyssop (agastache foeniculum).
Great worm bin information. I don't use clear totes. Reuse what you have right? 🙂
Thanks!! Most definitely use what you have!! I use clear tubs because I use my bins for educational purposes but the darker the environment the better!
😊 great video gotta find part 2 now
I didn't make it to part to lol sad to say my clones didn't make it. Thinking I will try a rooting hormone next time for this type of plant. Thank you for watching!!
I can't believe those bins are so cheap. Your sifted castings look great.
I know right; its a pretty good deal!! Thank you!!
Nice wormbin they will definitely enjoy that partially processed food scraps.
Thank enjoyed it indeed!! Thank you!
wow i actually never heard of a worm farm. cool video
Thank you!! Worm bins are a great way to keep your organic materials out of landfills. This helps decrease the greenhouse gases we produce.
