Ya lucky sod. This is epic man. Still sounding fresh after all these years. Peace & Fookin ✌
Seen them twice over the last few months.. they're brilliant at the moment.. really on fire!
Here's some facts 1. Poynton isn't London, Kent and Leek. Therefore no 2 shared spaces are the same. 2. Some roads no pavements at all. Which mean these people would have to use the road. The Poynton shared space has provided more pedestrianised space. 3. Not all traffic light crossings have audio. They've used different coloured stonework to indicate crossing areas and tactile paving at these areas. 4. Motorists are just as responsible at using roads safely for themselves and pedestrians.
This is really good, subscribed
"The road has no safe space for blind people".... well actually NO zebra crossing nor light-controlled crossing is a safe space for blind pedestrians either, IF drivers choose to ignore road rules. The change to a shared-space is to wake-up call to drivers to *SLOW DOWN* and *look* to drive in a *safe* manner - what is their legal obligation. Running down blind people crossing a road is *every* bit as illegal as crashing a red-light. Drivers MUST change their mindset. Feckin' idiot BBBC car-centric morons.
Just watched this quartet at St Mary’s church Handsworth. They were absolutely brilliant, so talented. There’s nothing like listening to live music.
I'd love to visit Iceland one day. Absolutely beautiful country.
They should have given him more time to talk demonstrate. Shared spaces are better though.
I love how the British refer to a project as a scheme. It makes it sound so nefarious.
This campaign smacks of a whole lot of fearmongering. Roads which are narrower, with slower traffic speeds are by definition easier for pedestrians to cross.
Whale
God, she's horrible
Yes I lived there for 15 yrs it’s a very dangerous cross road ! Believe me it does not work !
I have to watch this for homework lol
Mr rawling?
I been through poynton and it looks a hell of a lot better like this without causing long queues.
Jones is the pathetic one. I wouldn't trust him one inch.
Also, I am amazed that there were still some 1" VTs left, I assume for transferring archive material. (Flash frame @ 2'54")
Yep, in my shifts in TX it was only ever used for getting hold of some archive, although I think I still work with a couple of people who pre date them....... ;)
@@siplumb yo the bbc studio you work before got demolished
Did OBs leave a Sheffield Plate behind? (1'41").
BBC you are so stupid
Jones is pathetic and is vilifying sid for no reason, good for him standing up for traditional marriage of one man and one women, and his pro life stance too
Gays keep making out they are the victims yet actually are the ones who are attacking Christians ,and are often not too different from the pro abortion ,feminist crowd who claim to be champions of free speech yet try their best to silence anyone who speaks the truth or has a different opinion to them.he is like a child in a sweet shop who has had his sweets taken away ,and needs to grow up,
Same old story isn't it. I preach tolerance but you dare to have a different view from me then you are a bigot and you will be villified.
this guys an idiot,,should have asked his if he was going to take responsibility for any person being injured,,,the shared space in my town is a nightmare with 3 people already been knocked down at a junction,,,not serios but no one had been knocked down at he junction since the 70s until this shared space was brought in,,,,there a disgrace.,,,you depend on drivers stopping where before traffic was told to stop by lights,,,wonder how much he,s gets payed,,,he is never going to rubbish his own idea,s
I live here xD
Wolf XGamer same 😂😂
same hey :3
As a charity defending the fundamental human right of freedom of movement and the rights of the disabled, we fully support shared space. Civil space has been systematically destroyed by the motor industry over the last hundred years, and the purpose of public space, that it, human contact, trade, play and ritual has been removed. Shared space was itself the condition upon which civilisation was founded, the squares of ancient Greece the foundation of science, art and philosophy. Critics of shared space base their view on fear, not on experiment. In another youtube clip I sent my young son across Poynton village without hesitation. The low speeds create safety, speeding is much rarer than before. The low kerbs and removal of other barriers mean you can cross anywhere, no longer diverted around massive people herding structures. Wheel chairs and mobility scooters as masters of the terrain. Motorists are relegated. Free Wheel North embodies its belief in shared space in all its work. Any threat of legal action against shared space shall find massive opposition from Free Wheel North and the thousands of disabled people it represents.
here in Kidderminster a shared space arrangement is being utilised in the town however it is a more condensed area and already people are questioning the viability. Time will tell if in practice it is safer than what we had before.
I would like to add that before filming I crossed Park Lane with a friend; the traffic heading to Manchester was stationary so walked across the road and stopped in the middle; the other side of the road was empty with 2 cars travelling fast with the first one doing an emergency stop. I have never been so terrified thinking the car may skid in how it came to a stop. Cyclists, one at speed were on the pavement, and some trying to use Park Lane were on and off the road / pavement as the road is so narrow. Pleased the reality of shared space came across very well on live broadcast.
Would be useful to see the pre-recorded accompanying piece as well.
Ben Hamilton-Baillie this was only uploaded to give someone local a link as they hadn't seen any of the coverage. The original report is available on breakfasts Facebook page
This looks like a pre-dawn hit-job by @BBCBreakfast. The Facebook posting [facebook.com/bbcbreakfast/videos/1439244869422980] is much better balanced. Comments are many and varied.
This was no hit job by the BBC; it was live and nobody asked the designer to look behind himself, listen for traffic and walk backwards. The results of the inquiry were very clear - shared space must be stopped, all schemes audited, made accessible and guidance must change publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201617/cmselect/cmwomeq/631/63109.htm#_idTextAnchor070 paragraph 173.
There are no words for how crazy thus is
Excellent Footage. Access all areas!
Might be a carbuncle, but a carbuncle with soul...
