Cicadas: The Noisiest Insects in the Noisiest City
Chicago people can sleep while airplanes fly over their homes, trains honk their horns, and when people are arguing at 3 in the morning. The only thing that could wake them up are the awful sounds made by cicadas, but thankfully they make their noise during the day.
Shrog and Bob discuss cicadas with the usual hilarious results.

The Couch Tomb in Lincoln Park
Переглядів 1,9 тис.День тому
You visit the Lincoln Park Zoo with your family (because it's free) and when you get bored and want to explore other areas of the Lincoln Park Community Area. You walk around and see a tomb with the name "Couch" on it and wonder "what the f*ck is a tomb doing in the middle of everywhere?!" You could read the signs around it and learn what it's doing there, but you don't want to because you're i...
The Sears Tower: We'll NEVER Call it the Willis Tower
Переглядів 2,4 тис.14 днів тому
The Sears Tower was finished in 1973, and was the tallest building world at the time. It was also a time when Sears Roebuck and Company was the largest retailer in the United States. Now that everybody shops on line, Sears became smaller and smaller and so did the Sears Tower, in comparison with other skyscrapers because not it't the 25th tallest building in the world.
Chicago's Union Station: Name Origin and Hilarity
Переглядів 1,2 тис.21 день тому
Union Station is where all the Metra trains arrive from the suburbs. It's about a mile from Lake Michigan and it's where the shoot-out scene in "The Untouchables" was filmed. Schrog and Bob walk past it and have a discussion about its name origin and, as always, hilarity ensues.
The Reversal of the Chicago River: Sending Our Waste Down South
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Місяць тому
In the 1800s people from all over the world came to Chicago to achieve the American Dream, you know, to get filthy rich. One of the problems with all the people getting filthy rich was that the Chicago River starting getting really filthy. People might have been able to get used to the stench and the flies, but the big problem was that the river flowed into Lake Michigan, the source of Chicago'...
Goose Island: Island Named After One of Earth's Nastiest Creatures
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Місяць тому
Goose Island is a man-made island just north of the Loop. I used to pass it all the time when I drove on North Avenue to the Second City, and saw that Mars Wrigley's building was on it. I wondered if it's where chocolate was made by Oompa Loompa's. It can be accessed from North Avenue by the Cherry Street Bridge. No, Oompa Loompa s don't make chocolate there, and they don't make Goose Island Be...
CTA: Chicago's El Train
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
When I first moved to Chicago I was excited to use the El Train because there's nothing like it where I come from (Milwaukee). I use the El every time I go to a Cubs game to avoid traffic and parking nightmares. But the El train has its own nightmares as Bob and Shrog find out in this exciting new animation!
Chicago's Picasso Statue: Ugly or Not-So-Ugly?
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Місяць тому
Chicago has a lot of public art: the Buckingham Fountain, Calder's Flamingo, and the bewilderingly popular Cloud Gate (aka "the Bean"). My favorite piece of public art is an un-named statue in Daley Plaza. Most people call it "the Picasso" because the artist behind it was, you guessed it, Pablo Picasso, the great 20th Century Cubist artist. Some think it's ugly, and maybe they're right, but I t...
Streeterville: The Land Built on Garbage
Переглядів 1,9 тис.2 місяці тому
Streeterville is a hoity-toity neighborhood in Chicago's Near North Side. It's where you'll find the eastern half of the Miracle Mile, Navy Pier, and the John Hancock Tower which is now called 875 N Michigan Avenue by.....nobody. It's hoity-toity because it's on Chicago's lakefront. But its history isn't so hoity-toity. It was build on rubble and named after a con-artist that spent time in prison.
Calder's Flamingo: Modernist Masterpiece or Ugly Orange Spider?
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 місяці тому
Have you ever walked around Downtown Chicago and stumble across a giant orange spider web and said “oh that’s BEAUTIFUL”? Neither has anyone else. Nevertheless, Calder’s Flamingo is a recognizable statue that can at least alert pedestrians and motorists where they are in the city. It even had an appearance in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in the parade scene. Shrog and Bob stumble across the statue ...
Trump Tower: Triggering Chicago Since 2005
Переглядів 2 тис.2 місяці тому
Trump Tower stands out as the glitzy skyscraper on the Chicago River. It's the second tallest building in Chicago (second to the Sears Tower, of course) and its prominent name reminds Chicago residents and tourists that President Donald J. Trump exists. This realization causes some people to insanely flip off the building, but this is becoming less and less frequent. Maybe it's because people a...
The Steve Bartman Incident: Chicago Behaving Badly
Переглядів 2,9 тис.2 місяці тому
Cubs fans are devoted to their team. They have to be because they only win the World Series every 108 years or so. They're SO devoted that if someone jeopardizes their success, his life will be ruined, like poor Steve Bartman. In 2003 the Cubs finally made it to the National League Championship against the Miami Marlins. In the 8th inning of game 6 (the Cubs let the series 3-2), Bartman tried t...
The Eastland Disaster: One of the Worst Maritime Disasters in History
Переглядів 1,3 тис.2 місяці тому
In 1915 the SS Eastland tipped over in the Chicago River, killing 844 people who just boarded to go to a picnic in Michigan City. Shrog and Bob stumble upon the plaque on Wacker Drive with hilarious results, even though there was nothing hilarious about the Eastland Disaster.
The Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Chicago's North Park Neighborhood
Переглядів 2 тис.3 місяці тому
North Park is a Chicago's Community Area #13 and it's located at the Northern boundary of the city. It's quiet, tree-shaded, and has the only waterfall in Chicago. It's the perfect place for middle-income families that want to live in Chicago but not be a part of its noise and chaos. It as also deemed the perfect place for rest and recovery for Tuberculosis patients in the early 1900s because t...

Mentally unstable people can be found anywhere, doesn’t mean they don’t know how to ride a bike
Only in Chicago !!!!
Joker suit. lol
A woman riding her bike ???
I thought NYC was Gotham?
I thought Metropolis was NYC and Jersey was Gotham. Nevertheless, the Dark Knight trilogy was filmed in Chicago!
Gotham is NYC. But, the Batman films with Christian Bale were all filmed in Chicago.
Bangkok is the real Gotham
ORIGINAL. 😂
Why the Babylonian holding grain?
Wikipedia didn’t say. 😆 I assume because grain was exchanged there and ancient Babylon made significant advances in grain farming.
Even though he will never get my vote I don’t mind the building. Just another addition to Chicago’s landscape. Thanks Trump.
I use to go in Cabrini Green all the time, building 714 to be exact on division and Halsted. Just go in mind your business and pretend you lived there all your life. No fear.
I support all Chicagoans no matter what side of the city you are from I have love for you. Keep up the great work.
The reason that nobody messes with the Balbo monument is that nobody wants to mess with the local Italian community.
Perhaps, but they took down a couple of Columbus statues which pissed them off.
It's interesting how Streeterville's history contrasts with its current image.
Streeterville has a fascinating mix of glamour and grit.
The history behind Streeterville is as intriguing as its skyline.

I just found this monument in real life. I wonder if it's the oldest monument in chicago
It might be the oldest outdoor monument. There’s probably some stuff in the Field Museum and the Art Institute that’s older. 🤷
This is a masterpiece Bob.
Thanks Andy! I KNEW you’d appreciate it. All but the interior of the house were the actual filming locations.
You are so obviously a child predator It’s scary.
You calling me a Democrat?
W content Mr. Schram
If “w” means “good”…thank you!
when it comes to our driving we are aggressive due to the fast paced nature of Illinois since it's the most fast paced state in the Midwest but there is a catch we are well aware of our surroundings but despite our awareness we still take our aggressive driving up north since Wisconsin is a more laid back state and that left many Wisconsinites upset and since the neighbors up north consider our driving bad because of us being aggressive some Illinoisans resorted to yelling at Wisconsin drivers when they come down south and Illinoisans began to consider Wisconsin drivers as slow, so the whole driving thing is pretty much a mess at this point
I don't know the stats, but I don't think Illinois gives out as many speeding tickets as Wisconsin. That might be a factor as well.
@@chicago-bob true
I believe that some of the friction between Illinois and Wisconsin also comes from hunting and fishing. A lot of Wisconsin guys say I don’t go to Illinois to hunt and fish why do they come up here?
I think FIBs hunt and fish in Wisconsin because deer and fish are allowed to vote in Illinois. Great hearing from you Andy! Is the dangerously strong open mike still happening at Rounding Third Sunday nights?
@@chicago-bob It’s still happening against all odds.
It's also because they buy up all the lake front property as there summer vacation homes and keep the local who live there out.
$25 sandwich that can’t be good for business
Yet there they remain after people like me buy them!
I’m originally from Chicago but these days reside in Orange County, California. I was at L.A. Airport one time getting off a flight and helped this woman with her luggage. She thanked me and asked me where I was from. I responded by telling her that I was originally from Chicago Then she said to me “You’re a FIB”. I answered her back by saying, “Why don’t you tell your little girl what that means, this way she will start hating me at a young age”. The woman was speechless! I told her that I actually lived in her state of Wisconsin for two years and because of people like her, I would never visit Wisconsin again! I have to honestly say that it felt real good saying that!
😆I'm from Milwaukee and told one of my co-workers that WI people call Illinois people "FIBs". She asked what it meant and I said "F*ucking Illinois B*stards." She said "OMG they hate us THAT much?!" It's kind of like how so many Canadians hate Americans and Americans are completely oblivious.
I never experienced any animosity from Canadians! I played hockey in Calgary in 1997, and the local residents treated me very well! In the state of Wisconsin, I experienced a lot of animosity just because I was born in Chicago. My last visit to Wisconsin was in 2004. I haven’t been back since and have no plans to ever visit that state again!

THE SATURDAY NIGHT JOKE An Engineer dies and goes to Hell. Dissatisfied with the level of comfort, he starts designing and building improvements. After a while, Hell has air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators. The engineer is a pretty popular guy. One day God calls and asks Satan, "So, how's it going down there?" Satan says, "Hey things are going great! We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next." God is horrified. "What? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake - he should never have gone down there! You know all engineers go to Heaven. Send him up here! " Satan says, "No way. I like having an engineer on the staff. I'm keeping him." God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue!” "Yeah, right," Satan laughs, "and where are you going to get a lawyer?"

That town hasn’t changed a bit.
Loved that show.
A great movie! Also once a year for me.
Just saw a video about this
Was it better than mine?

That's just a fancy term to make cheap beef juice sound like a French delicacy. 🤪
FYI, Gene & Jude's doesn't serve Italian Beef, only hot dogs, fries , & tamales...
Thanks for the correction! I should have done more research. I DID learn the the McDonald’d by Gene’s & Jude’s charges for ketchup because Gene’s & Jude’s won’t give it to their customers. 😆
If you really want a treat, try the barrel aged Malort. It still tastes bad, but the bad is aged in barrels
😆
Wait, they sell it in stores?
At Fresh Thyme so I guess it’s healthy.
lol nice!
Trippy.
Hey! You tricked us!
