pushing the limits of the Smithy lathe
Переглядів 3,3 тис.Рік тому
A few parts made on the Smithy lathe/mill combo machine which should ideally have been turned on a much larger lathe. You can see that the three main issues are power, rigidity, and limited low speed range for turning large diameters in steel. Midas 1220 LTD.
Roll Bender

Roll bender built for flat bar up to 100mm wide. In the video I am bending a 100x6mm. This was the first time using it, and I overshot the radius several times until I found a good technique. The bottle jack is not very repeatable, and I would use an acme screw if I were to build another one for production use. The drive spindle is 60mm, and the two rollers are 100mm with 6210 ball bearings in ...

Cable tool - drilling, bailing, driving pipe - v1.1
Переглядів 52 тис.4 роки тому
This is the reworked version of my first prototype light cable tool rig, designed for installing shallow wells in mostly-unconsolidated formations that are too challenging for light-rotary rigs. In this region the overburden consists mostly of altered (weathered) granite containing some depth of laterite and often intrusive seams of quartz. In some locations this material forms a productive aqu...
lightweight cable tool drill rig / forage à faible coût
Переглядів 118 тис.5 років тому
This prototype cable tool rig is an experiment in low-cost water well drilling in West Africa. The goal is to create a machine for less than 4000 USD that can install small capacity wells up to 40m depth in zones where water can be obtained without drilling through dozens of meters of granite bedrock. Drillers will be able to buy or lease equipment through a franchise and operate their own busi...

Which country in west africa bro
I want to can send your wts up contact
Which country bro
Hi i saw another video of your same cable tool machine, you had added a weight too the arm that moves up and down, what did you need that for?
this is cool can do a job only 1 guy thats awesome
Great simple design. Of course, the whole thing can be done by hand but it's going to be a whole lot slower. Also, I imagine you needn't stop at 40m with this, there's no reason per se not to just keep going, as long as you're not in rock - though a set-up like this could even gradually smash through limestone I guess.
❤
your lathe has its limitations, but it is cheap ,you can make whatever you want
you could use a car jack with a spindle in it , just like your hydraulic bottle jack
It's been a while since this video released. But I want to build my own rig man. Can you help me with instructions and detail information. Thanks 🇪🇹
I'm looking for one
Good efforts
can you post details of how you made your bailers? i'm trying to make a dart bailer and can't find any decent schematics. the flat/flap valve bailers i've made aren't working. don't seem to collect any sediment.
what material are you bailing?
@@haynillesen drilling mud and cuttings. mostly sand, gravel, and clay/adobe.
@@AJTarnas Are you using any casing?
@@haynillesen not deep enough to do so yet. if the bailer could pull out even 0.1 liter of cuttings per drop, i'd be ok with that (1L per drop would be ideal). then i would use a casing and be pulling material from under the bottom of it.
@@AJTarnas I guess you are from Amerika , there is a site : The Driller , already been there?
👍👍👍
bom dia amigo mostra detalhadamente como foi fabricado essa maquina ?
Great 👍 hard work but excellent
very good video....

Hi there. I wonder if you have come across this simplistic design of a cable tool rig used in latin america and if so, what made you go with your design? ua-cam.com/video/LHwFvyrJ2Uo/v-deo.html I'm thinking about building something but the wheel thingy looks far easier to me than a full cable tool rig
The full cable tool rig allows the cable to stretch and snap back after the bit impacts, which conserves energy and keeps the cable under some tension so it will drill a straight hole. The bit is also less likely to stick in the mud and you can feed it down in a controlled manner at the rate it will drill. The freefalling clutch in the simple machines such as you linked to is fine in soft ground if you don't have very heavy tools, but I would not use it in rock. Your arm will fall off with fatigue before the well is complete from pulling and releasing the lever.
@@cabletoolafrique Thanks, your points are understandable. I'm still trying to figure out, whether my soil is more soft or hard..
Молодец! Хорошая буровая машина получилась! Спасибо что поделился ссылкой на сборку этого аппарата.
How does someone get ahold of you about the cable drilling rig you built? Thanks
You can email me at google mail account cabletoolafrique.
The 4 jaw chuck whats the item number ?
How can i make the machine?
my suggestion you change the weight of your drill string in order to penetrate hard limestone formation about 500 kilos or 1,100.00 lbs.with average 20 to 35 strokes per minute that will pulverize the hard limestone.
Thanks for posting this, hit water @ 40 feet after building a similar rig from mostly scrap parts/things. I plan on going about 20 feet past hitting water but its at the end of summer and we get a lot of rain here so I feel good about it already. Your video and web explanation was helpful, appreciate it.
Je cherche un partenaire comme vous pour travailler au Sénégal
Hhhhh
😃💯
In these places you must build a rig with what you can find. Even if you give this guy a rig it would cost 25k to get it there plus duty's ( bribes to get it off dock) . I must commend you. Your rig is working, Nice job.
Encantado de ver vuestra cobrarás de la realización de vuestras perforaciones. Además el personal se ve que son muy profesionales,

I have just started drilling with this machine and i found difficulies to carry out the sand and its not progressing anymore please what should i do?

Super invention! Excellent that I found it! Thank you bro!
Helle we are in senegal and are looking to get machine of this type
I am not exporting yet, but you can look at the design at www.longenotes.wordpress.com. You can probably find the parts to build one in Senegal without much trouble. There is a more recent video with updates to the machine on my channel.

Do you have something at the end of the drill pipe to hold the dirt ?
You make mud with the hammer bit, then bail it out with the bailer. You have to add water until you get into the water table.
Great job, could you please give me the design of this machine
You can see the blog at longenotes.wordpress.com for more detail on the construction of the machine.
