Interesting talk, for years i could not find out how my family got to Jamaica and from which part of UK. I see its Liverpool as a Captain John Clare and his father William Clare & Co slave traders from Liverpool trade with West Africa and Jamaica. I come from a William Clare of Lucea Hanover Jamaica also a capatin here on the island. I have been to UK but never Liverpool next time i have to see it.

I'm from Lancashire, and am also a poet/artist - and a great admirer of Carrington's art - ... and have lived outside of Lancashire for most of my life, like Leonora. So all of this was very interesting for me; particularly regarding what kind of legacy might be in store for me, as well as Leonora; an artist 'virtually unknown in her own country'... and then, of course, the horror of the final shot... only about fifty people in the audience! Well, one's forced to choose optimism here. Fifty is greater than none. And kudos to Edge Hill for recognising Leonora's genius. I do believe Leonora's work will only become far more recognised in her own country as this century progresses. I personally can't think of a British artist from the twentieth century who is better than her, and also can't wait to delve into her writing. Some of what Joanna said had me close to tears. A fascinating talk that - despite lousy audio (I had to plug in speakers to catch what was going on) - I could've listened to for hours.

the discussion lacked real focus on the black paintings. the lack of real information that disseminates the paintings made this lecture very superficial and irrelevant to anything meaningful and began to go off on tangents that made it boring and frustrating (sucked). the black paintings are very important and superb unlike the 2 airheads that tried to reveal their info talk about ultimately the obvious and very little of anything interesting. Super disappointing. Super dumb.
