I sang this with the ilmea all state chior last January it made me so sad. It made the audience cry, and my family and bolth of my teachers had tears in their eyes at the climax of the song

First song to be performed at my states choir festival and once I heard the lyrics and the schools being listed I cried.

Beautiful! We had the chance to meet Dr. Ramsey a few years ago - a beautiful soul. My daughter was in the choir that premiered My Mothers Words and Dr. Ramsey spent a day with the choir during rehearsals.

I sang this at ILMEA all-state. It was so powerful and even made me cry during the concert

Im here because this is one of the songs provided for the UW-Milwaukee Vocal Arts Festival and I am IN LOVE WITH THIS song, its so good I am so excited to learn and perform it!!!

This is absolutely stunning. I read the sheet music and the lyrics drew me in, spoke to me. I had to look up an arrangement of it, and it did not disappoint. The swells in the chants create a powerful thrum as old as time, and with that power it reminds women to not hold back, that no matter what others tell you, go as far as you can. And it could not be written any better. I will delve into a second part I almost didn't say, but I found this music through the Texas All State packet this year, and like all the pieces, it is interesting to speculate what the clinicians want the singers to learn from it. This piece's message is so beautiful, I think as we learn it it will hopefully be ingrained into our memory as a reminder that no matter what others tell us, ignore them, and go as far as you can. I absolutely can't wait to learn this piece and sing with my fellow musicians, and the magic we will create. Thank you for making this piece ❤

Such a beautiful composition. I was reading through Ephesians this morning and was reminded of this piece. Such a great and relevant exhortation to the soul.

It hits different when you were apart of it😵‍💫

It is a very powerful song with a very important message. If presented to a choir, the conductor should take time to explain who wrote the poem and why certain words and phrases were written. Better still, have a chorus member do the research and present it to the choir. WW I was a different kind of hell on earth and both the poem and the music combine to reflect the suffering of soldiers in trench warfare.

If you have the chance to sing this song, please do it! This song is so complex, yet it is amazingly beautiful. It is unique in sound but the glissandos and dissonance add so much. Such a powerful song with exquisite lyrics. This is my favorite choir piece I have ever had the opportunity to sing! Andrea Ramsey is a genius and did an amazing job with this song!

This is such a moving piece that speaks the truth about what happens during a school shooting. I hope that one day there are no more shootings or any acts of violence. My heart is still with the victims of these and many more shootings and their families ❤️
