Combination planes, on the other hand, were introduced in the 19th century and allowed for even greater versatility. These planes typically come with a variety of bl...

A core box plane is designed to cut a perfectly semi-circular cut in the wood. Then you take two of these the exact same size and shape, slap them together face to face so that the interior forms a completely round surface. You pack that full of casting sand and you use that to make a core. Hence the term core box, which is then used to cast a metal part that has to have a hollow center. This p...

Sir, I have a no.4 and am looking for the blade adjusting mechanism for it. If you know of any sources of information or if you have one for sale or even a picture, I would appreciate it if you share. Thank you in advance.
@ 1:28 you’re talking about carvel planking on a vessel?
WOW!! Sure beats the rusty dusty EC Stearns I got in a box of junk from an auction lot. And yeah, it's missing the stop.

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Glad I found your channel.
Do you recall what values these planes realized?
What price did it make at auction?
What was the hammer price?
I would like to send you a photo of a vintage metal rabbit plane with no identifcation as to who made it, and most interesting the blade which came with it is shapened like a knife. Please help us ID it: ... OORAH!!

Ok hold on a minute , I've been trying to get someone to make me a custom hammer head like the one with the single claw in the back because I'm a possum hunter and then use staples to attach my traps to trees and I was thinking a single beak or claw would be easier for taking out the stave's.....now you tell me I'm not the only one who has had the idea wow mind blown . I was actually looking for a head so I could make a long handle for a walking stick slash branch hooking device and possum hunting tool but I can't find any old hammer heads at the second hand shops in my part of NZ ,the hammer head so have is a big one and bulbus I want a light head shaped like that , the big heads are to heavy to swing around when you put a long handle on them .I've actually been putting a few handles on old heads for the farm I live on but I haven't come across a head that I like yet ..... awesome video dude sorry for rambling you broke my brain 😝
This was a delight to watch. Thank you.
Beautiful works of art

That's my great grandfathers plane
Amazing. 😍
I'll eventually find a No 85, 87 and 212, but they're typically pretty harsh on the old pocket book. As of right now, I have a Stanley No 112, 12, 70, 81, 80 and 82 scrapers. Great video.
I got one today... Sweden
I have a plane that I can’t find out anything about, can’t get any info on google ,it is a No 6 with REGION on it and a stamp No on the side (1079) it looks very much identical to the Stanley Bailey No6 only the name is different (REGION)in the same area’s Stanley has theirs, it’s in fair condition but needs some attention,it seem to be heavier than the Stanley, hope you can point me in the right direction, paid £40 for it which I thought was reasonable to say even the seller knew nothing about,it will make a fine addition to my tools once tidied up
I love this video.. many nice information about those antique tools.. Good job, Thank you

Cool ! Wondering if you will do these videos again. Perhaps one for 2020 as I expect the March 2020 auction was canceled or held totally absentee. I usually get catalogs and price lists but have missed 2019 and 2020. Classic Design, California.
Thanks for watching! We have a few auctions in 2020 coming up with some great patent planes we’d like to feature in upcoming videos. Till then if you’d like more info and to see the lots up for auction now, please visit www.finetoolj.com/auction/list-auctions
