    Interesting build. I'm not really a fan of some of the modernized items, like the rims, but it's all done very nicely. That speaker-amp thing is cool. I've never heard of such a thing -- gonna have to look into that.

    I have a scout that I’m restoring with a 196ci engine. I’m Wondering if I should swap it or not. How did it perform on the highway?

    • @dbz4949

      Top speed with the stock set up was about 70 mph. I personally loved the 196 and the way it sounded like a tractor!

      @@dbz4949 my uncle is gonna turbo charge it so hopefully it won’t struggle on highway driving. Do you have any suggestions for an ac system for this scout with the 196 cu engine?

    My dad and a college classmate drove a 80 from Ft Wayne Indiana down to Lima Peru in 1963!! International promotional trip, had to stop by all the dealerships in Mexico, Central America and South America. Crazy adventure. Great job with your rebuild.

    Will please give me everything carburetor and what everything you put on there so I can upgrade mine like yours I would like to have the information on all the disc brake stuff and everything where I can get them at could you please get those to me thank you my name is Phil I have a 69 international scout with a 152 and it like that grade like you did yours can you please help me on that get back to me

    • @bluelineautointeriorspetal9972
      @bluelineautointeriorspetal9972 3 роки тому

      Hi Phil, The carburetor is a WEBER 36/32 two barrel. All it needs is an adapter plate which is avail. The electronic ignition is a Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) distributor. All it needs for install is a 12V lead. I can’t remember what brand the disc brake conversion was. It was generic ordered off the internet made for a scout 800 but it worked great. It did require a late model master cylinder upgrade made for disc brakes. I believe the one I used was from a corvette but any will do if you can fit it in there. Ryan

      Thanks so much for the reply. Second question what's the correct Webber carburetor to get?

    • @dbz4949
      @dbz4949 5 років тому

      73stayred 2barrel Weber 32/36. You’ll need an adaptor plate. I can’t remember exactly because it was awhile back but I think I called Weber customer service direct and they knew exactly what to send me. I can’t stress enough how flawless and reliable it ran paired with the DUI (Davis unified ignition) HEI single wire distributor. Neither one breaks the bank and the difference is ridiculous!

    You've ruined a perfectly fine Scout. Bastardized it with a Chevy steering wheel. A couch seat in the front, blocking the way to the rear seats, rhino-lined it, put a radio in with a crappy speaker right in the middle, that yellow knob is ugly, none of the knobs are original, hardly anything original is the problem. I wouldn't call the a rebuild, that implies you're restoring it to it's original glory. This is nothing like the original glory, this is just ... building a Frankenstein car with a 800 body.

    • @rakkassan2187
      @rakkassan2187 4 роки тому

      Shame that so few are left original.

    • @dbz4949
      @dbz4949 3 роки тому

      You ever build something yourself buddy quaid? I’m thinkin not. I’m guessing that you sit on your couch most of the time on the internet trying to insult people on their projects and things that make them happy. You’ve chosen to focus on a yellow knob, an aftermarket steering wheel and some speakers in a classic ride that still runs the original drive train when most others don’t. The front seat is original by the way but since your an expert on Scouts I’ll let you believe whatever you want. Through one simple post you solidified yourself as king of all douchbags. Congrats to you. Keep on hiding behind your keyboard it’s clearly what you do best-

    I'm building a 56 transtar with the exact same suspension front and back on the stock chat and chance you could give me the wheel size a back space you used up front also are you running standard spindles or a 2" drop up front?

    • @dbz4949
      @dbz4949 8 років тому

      Standard spindles with 2 coils cut out of the springs. The wheels are billet specialties dagger G but I can't remember the spacing. I sold the pickup this last spring otherwise I'd measure for you. Good luck with your build good to see more studes on the road!

      +dbz4949 that's sucks I finished the chassis and the bodies in paint I forgot to mesure out the front for the new wheels up front before sending it off did you c notch the rear or is that the standard no limit fat bar kit witg no notch ?

    Can you tell me the part number for that distributor that you installed? I've got the same rig but it's at the start of it's restoration journey. Cheers,

    • @dbz4949
      @dbz4949 8 років тому

      I don't have the part number but it's a Davis Unified Ignition distributor. U can get them direct off the website, eBay or summit also sells them for the four cylinder. One 12v power line and your good to go. Makes it run like a champ especially if u upgrade to the Webber 32/36 2 barrel carb

    • @dbz4949

      Just your average mild steel. Not sure on the length I sold it about two years ago but I basically cut them just short of the width of the truck.

    Holy crap it doesn't have a small block Chevy. *mind blown* Sounds good too! That big block four banger has some good power I bet. That's a lot of cubic inches in there!

    • @dbz4949
      @dbz4949 8 років тому

      This motor was awesome! Looked good, kept it somewhat original and sounded like a tractor- the only thing I'd say was a must was the carb upgrade from the single barrel to the weber 2 barrel and the DUI electronic ignition. The difference was nite and day. It took my scout from a novelty to a daily driver. I've since sold it but people went crazy for that thing at car shows.

    • @VinnyMartello
      @VinnyMartello 8 років тому

      I have a 1972 Travelall with the 392 V8 totally stock at 191k original miles. It has a lifter tick that I will address. However, it's easily the best sounding V8 I have ever heard in terms of stock/non-modified.
