    Konnichiwa Satou sensei!! I love your videos, your hiragana mnemonics have helped me IMMENSELY!!! With the upmost respect/admiration, I have a few suggestions for hiragana mnemonics that I think will work well for Americans! For Ho ほ, it could be a HOagie sandwich instead of hot dog (“hawt” dog). For Ra ら, it could be LAp, because it looks like a person sitting on the floor, maybe a cat in their lap. For Ri り, it could be LEaping into the air, I see the first stroke as a person with their legs up and the second stroke as a swooping arrow indicating they’re jumping up. Or り can also look like a person LEaning over to touch their toes. For Ru る, it could be a flower bLOOming, maybe upside down, like the circle at the end is a little petal. Or you could focus on the LOOp at the end of the stroke. For Ro ろ, it could be you LOWered the nutrients/sunlight and killed your flower. I like that you have those mnemonics connected since they look so similar. Again, I give these suggestions with the upmost respect and admiration for your videos and knowledge. I hope you see that your methods have created very passionate students, eager to share what they’ve learned! I was using an app to learn hiragana but your videos inspired/helped me so much more! Thank you so much for everything you do!! Arigatou gozaimasu!! ありがとう ございます 💖

    Just a tip - even as a complete beginner with no knowledge whatsoever of the Japanese language, I still prefer when you speak in Japanese with subtitles rather than in English!

    • @satous-nihongo-playground
      @satous-nihongo-playground 10 днів тому

      Thank you for your comment! I personally prefer teaching in Japanese and am doing so during my actual lessons (of course with some English explanations when it’s about complicated grammar.) However, when it comes to videos where I can’t see students faces to know if they understand or not, it’s different🥲 (If it’s all about greetings or something, it’s easy but not grammar lessons) I used to make lesson videos in Japanese with English subtitles and received some comments saying it’s hard to read both subtitles and Japanese sentences on the screen at the same time… Listening to Japanese, reading English subtitles, and reading/understanding grammar points at the same time can be too much for some people… Everyone has different preferences and it’s hard to decide which is better but I do prefer the way you said too😂I’m planning to teach in Japanese with English subtitles when this series reaches a certain level! Thank you for your opinion! ありがとうございます!

    Thank you! This video was really helpful, but would you say i should use another recourse with the Japanese from zero?

    • @satous-nihongo-playground
      @satous-nihongo-playground 12 днів тому

      Thank you for your comment! Everyone has different preferences and own efficient ways of learning, so I can’t say anything which is 100% sure. But Japanese from zero textbook has less exercises/other materials compared to other textbooks like GENKI which has workbooks, apps, free audio files and free website(quizzes, flash cards, videos, etc) to help you consolidate grammar and vocabulary you learn. Many from-zero users I’ve met were struggling to use grammar/vocabulary in real life. It’s because they “roughly know/remember what it is” but are“not used to use it“. If you are using the from zero series, I recommend using its website too but many contents are not free. As I mentioned in the video, each textbook has both good and bad sides. For people who prefer something simple, I still recommend from zero series. No matter which textbook you use, I believe having conversation practice in addition to textbook study is the important part👍🏻 Sorry for the loooong reply! Hope it helps!

    Hello Satou Sensei いつたべないを使い、いつ食べませんか?so I hope this question makes sense in Japanese. When do you use ‘tabenai’ and when do you use ‘tabemasen’ ?

    • @satous-nihongo-playground
      @satous-nihongo-playground 23 дні тому

      Thank you for your comment! 食べません is a polite form(negative) which is also called long form and used in polite speech. Polite speech is used when you talk to strangers or people you have to show respect and politeness. 食べない is called short form or plain form and used in casual/informal speech. It is used when you talk to someone close to you in relationship such as your family members or friends. Short/plain form can be combined with polite form like this. 今日は昼(ひる)ごはんを食べないと思(おも)います。 I think I don’t eat lunch today. 食べない is a short/plain form but if it’s followed by a polite form word(おもいます)the whole sentence turns to polite. In order to know if the sentence is polite or casual, you need look at the end of the sentence. I already made some videos about short/plain forms too, so please watch them for more information!

    Thank you for watching! 17:37 The particle WA can be used when contrasting/comparing. That’s one of the functions of it. By putting WA, the sentence emphasizes things we contrast/compare. Kyoo wa ikimasu. Demo, ashita wa ikimasen. Today (I) will go, but tomorrow (I) will not go. This sentence compares/contrasts “today” and "tomorrow.” (Usually a particle is not used with a relative time.) The sentence in the video contrasts/compares “before” and “now”. I’m sorry that I didn’t explain this in the video😭

      コメントありがとうございます。 この動画は視覚教材であり、イラストをmnemonic(記憶を助けるもの)として用いています。おっしゃるように「me」など、より簡単で使いやすい単語はあるのですが、それを覚えやすいイラストと結びつけることはなかなか難しいのが現状です。ご理解いただけますと幸いです。 多くは日本語教育の場でよく使われているものなのですが、私自身も「これは無い!無理矢理すぎる!」と思うものはあります😂「メ」なんて特に、なんじゃそりゃの域で申し訳ないです。他にもっといいイラスト(単語)を思い付いたら内容を更新したいと思います。 また、英語使用時の日本語のイントネーションも、おっしゃる通りです。言語にはそれぞれの音とリズムがあるため、日常会話では聞きやすくするためにそれらを統一する話者が多いです。ですが日本語教育者としてこういった動画をアップしている以上、発音にはより気をつけるようにします。状況に応じて変える必要もあるかと思いますが、基本的には英語に引っ張られないよう頑張ります! 長文失礼いたしました。 試行錯誤しながら動画教材を作っている未熟者のため、こういったご意見はとても参考になります。ありがとうございました😊
