I heard about this abandoned station house a few months ago and while in the area thought I'd check it out. The house its self was pretty much a bare shell now, with 3 caravans sitting in the back yard. The station house opened when the line was completed on 14 October 1848. On 7 June 1865 there was an accident at the Rednal Junction. An excursion train from Birkenhead en route to London came o...

Wow I had some crazy Nights in that spot. One night all I did was watch movies and go in the hot tub pool 🤣🤣😜
Jungle and Uropa. was its names. Myself and my sisters used to go in there when it was the pink panther, for a few drinks before we went into 5th Avenue on a Saturday night.
the rooms built into the river bank at 11-30 are cellars from the old corn mill that used to be there.

Great indie nights in the early 1990s pink panthers
Now flattened by fat cat developers and the council so we can have more student accommodation, when will the council learn this is part of our heritage
@davidclemmett4372 I know pal, alot of boltons heritage has gone 😌
Its been sold for renovation
First mentioned in Bolton's very first published licencing laws from 1721. 300 years then gone. Great little boozer
I remember this place. It was really a lovely place to go and I have actually been in that jacuzzi. Very sad to see it in that state. 😢
Love places like this,,where did you start,,I’m not far from Bolton m8
I started being McDonald's in the town centre, or you can start on Bank Street, its good little walk through and easy access
@@JonesAdventures1982 yea cheers mate,,I will check it out
Pink panthers, jungle... Had a few names. Enjoyed many a night in there in the early 90s. Rough as but always had a top night
Razzmatazz... Just come back to me. Best iteration. Proper loud and naughty crowd
I do these walks. Only because my dog is insane
🤣🤣 what dog have you got ?
How did you get in
I remember going there 20 odd years ago .
My aunty and uncle had this put from 88 to 90 John and Elaine Doris. I remember all these old rooms I was aged 5 to 8. I used to go and search for coins down the back of th chairs in the bar. There was a massive fish tank in the office up stairs. I didn't know it was haunted as otherwise I wouldn't of done all the exploring when I was younger haha. Happy memories
It's shame it was demolished a lot of history in that place
Was there yesterday and it seemed to be completely sealed up. Good video!
I remember the Blue Boar on Deansgate !
i always wondered if you could get from my mam's (next to queen's park) to castle street (where i lived) along the river. now i do. ta!
I've told you already mate, I swam it.

@@TheDocRitchieI once swam it with a backpack on turned up in this underground part lost scared and confused, I was naked yes before you ask
And that beetle 🤯
Great video and explore 🤙🏼
Cheers mate , this place has since been demolished
i worked on the ...jig... there as they called it for a year and about 38/39 years ago ! it was a self drive kind of crane where you drove out in a tiny alloy cabin with a large electric heavy duty hoist on it ! and you lowered the hook to haul up rolls of paper to the top mill ! scary realy lol and not many people would take the job because of that !!
You watched red rose on Netflix? I’m watching this cause they mentioned tunnels under Bolton and it intrigued me so hear I am 😂
So sad seeing our roots going to ruin
Sadly its been demolished now
I once followed the river beneath the old market hall and along down the back of churchgate behind ye olde pasty shop.
When I was a teenager, before it was argos it was derelic. There was a hole in the wall at the other end you entered from, we used to climb up inside and explore the whole building, was massive. There was an old cafe that was shaped and decorated like the inside of a plane, wish I had pics, was way before mobiles.
Spent many a day exploring round herein 2002. We were in the flats adjacent and could jump across the alleyway into the cinema. Took some of the projector lenses, wish I'd kept them.
Sounds cool mate, did you take photos back then? Or more memories
@@JonesAdventures1982 Nah, wish I had. I remember the entrance from the alleyway being full of pigeons and pigeon shit. Such a cool place to explore. Remember smoking a few spliffs on the roof of the cinema as well. I also worked as a security guard back in those days, and got to explore St George's Hall at night, a few times after alarm activations.
The Hanbury Cinema in Bargoed, South Wales has been closed for many years. It's got asbestos inside.
Would this be the one on Northwich Road ?....looks amazing , can you park up somewhere nearby but discreetly ? Love exploring these places but appreciate the need to be ...subtle...and to leave it as you found it . Thank you...
I was the manager of this gym for a few years back in the early 00's, Classic World of Fitness (you can see the signs on the floor in the basement). Brings back some memories watching that 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed the video, it's a shame to see it left in this state 😞
@@JonesAdventures1982 Wow, the last time in there was somewhere near 1996. The whole building was used as a gym and education centre, training people to be gym instructors etc. Ken, Bill and the absolute legend Ray Berry. Thanks for the memories!

Awesome vid 👌 great place. 👍
Thanks pal 👍
Can only help you with the later stages of this one. In the early part of the video youre in the new part built to house the 2000 installed machine. This necessitated demolition of several smaller workshops. It appears once you leave that part and pass the old toilet block, the fitters shed is still there with its log books ( i couldnt make out the names but know most of them) and the laboratories , whilst always there, now have much more space presumably as quality control for the new machine. This effectively was seperate with its own canteen and facilities. Very rarely saw anyone who worked there and had no reason to go. The last room you go into is storage, and the office at the end with the monitor in the box belonged to the booking in clerk .The large space outside is storage and the spot i told you about when i knocked the sprinkler system out and flooded the place in late 99! First names and faces are easy to recall but surnames escape me. The locker belonging to " Waddy" early in the vid in the new machine room will be Andy Waddington and his partner in crime next locker down was Andy Aherne. Brilliant lads, two comedians with quick fire jokes all day every day. Ahernes Columbo impression was better than Peter Falk himself. Its a great shame its sad , derelict and forgotten, when as recently as not even 25 years since the whole place was thriving. Superb.
@Alec Milne yep, was only in there less than 5 years. Probably paid the bills owed by closure
Commented on your part one i was an employee for a short time there. On 15.57, the conical building that you ask its purpose was simply a water supply from the reservoirs above the site to servive the lower part which you dont get to in the vid. It is simply another warehouse but needed a supply through gravity. If you get there, go right to the back of the building, mire or less next to the old lift shaft, and theres a tiny office. Beyond that was a recess in the wall where we used to store fishing tackle so as we could have a crafty hour on the river behind. Obviously without management knowing. The building you finish the video in is in much better condition than the rest of the site because it was only completed in 2000 to house a 7million pound machine that took Italian fitters 12 months to complete. They were housed at the mill manager ( Nigel , from memory) sisters hotel in Darwen. Last throw of the dice in hindsight. There is also a new building (1994) across from the offices were the papwr was converted into finished products. The sheer scale of the place without machinery is incredible. With the machinery it was cramped, necessitating a traffic light and one way system in the older parts. The safety manual is in the site safety officers office. When you get to the part were you state the warehouses are empty, there was a drivers cabin thart appears to be gone now. The loaders and drivets used it extensively and you could sunbathe on the roof. The place with the filing docs is the mechanics room, were Eddie Pettigrew and his mate amongst others ran repairs and constantly provided parts for the machines. There was a barbers chair there where one pf the lads whos name escspes me would cut your hair! Usually just clippers over it. Youre right about staff. 160 was probably about right when it closed, but it ran 24 hours as late as 2000 and beyond and i would quadruple that number at any one time. There was an active social side, an annual football match for local charities which also resulted in the Sunday of the May Bank Hols being spent in Arkwrights Ale House after the game, off Chorley Old Road where the company had another warehouse on the Atlas ( EBM) site. Just be careful next time you go, parts of the place were off limits when it was open so its none too safe. Great vid, brought back some goid memories of some great lads and lasses, some of whom are no l9nger with us but were salt of the earth characters. Winter nights on the FLT going from one side of the site to the other could be hairy ,scary and freezing!
Wow thank you for the information, I've been fascinated the place with a couple of years now and still visit regularly, I'll have to check out the cavity and see if the fishing tackle is still there. Facing the weigh bridge up some steps there is what seems to the remains of a stone cottage / barn like building have you any idea what this was used for? I also have lots of photos on my Facebook page if you use Facebook 😊
@@JonesAdventures1982 The weighbridge building was from memory a booking in and out office for drivers and deliveries. You could also book in and out there for work , the clocking machine has gone. The brick building behind it was called the Bangerta, a strange term , not sure what it meant but they wound paper onto cones and there was a small lab there to check contents for chemicals etc. Some chemical tanks and the stirring pit are still visible, and the concrete bases for the machines. Used to absolutely stink truth be known. The tunnels do indeed exist, well one does, its not for the mill per se but for the water board and leads from the resevoir above the site to the back of the mill shown in part one. It looks to have been capped and the access building knocked down probably wgen it closed. We were told of another tunnel at the very other end, down the hill that you turn to look at the water tower from, but no one ever found it and if it existed id suggest it was for summat similair. One summer morning in 99 about 5 oclock, a family of deer used to wander through and a sparrowhawk nested in the barn you mentioned. Badgers and foxes too. Its a shame in a lot of ways but as i said previuosly the installation of a modern machine was too little to late, some of the other machines were 50 years old even then. When you walk across the yard to admire the view and the green Nissan hut is on your left next to the two brick sheds, youre standing on the site of an old suspension crane that hoyed material up from the bottom shed befor FLT. Its gone noew but part of the frame is visible as you leave the mechanics shop. It was a belting job for young lads and we were busy all day with deliveries. I had to laugh when you wete talking about asbestos, immediatly to your left was storage for massive rolls of mexican paper, i once knocked the sprinkler system out with the FLT pissing all the paper through...not my finest hour. Cant stress be careful though. Strange and dangerous site, unsure what will happen given the ground effectively sites over 3 stories and given it was a bleach works before the paper arrived, the ground contamination must be incredible. There was a griddle pan in the drivers hut and an irish fella called Bob Dunlop would grill the trout if you caught one out back. Needed to move with the times given the purpose built facility near the Reebok , lot of staff moved between the two, but apart from some token efforts the writing had been in the wall for some time. Management were okay for the most part and a good thing was you were king of your own domain, so if i was say loading in the yard, id put the barrier down and even if you saw management in there, you could bollock them til they got out with no repercussions. Everyone had a job and you werent expected to do anyone elses. A good dodge on nights was to start at 6, have all the machines loaded by half 7, then watch telly and sleep in the cabin. Nobody ever came for you. We also worked it between myself and the other loaders that you would load machines at the end of your shift, so the next man could take it easy. Given the location there used to be a butty waggon come from the farm facing Wilton Arms full of stuff. Big Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers rivallry too given the location. In summer you could leave the trailer and tractor in the yard with the ignition took out, in winter it had to be shut away in case it froze!! Lovely memories
Worked on No3 machine for 10yr, made redundant 2004 Place pretty much same, but without machinery, dodgy walkways, crumbling walls, I remember full roof falling in over paper machine one night , and constant fires in new machine house 😂 Good laugh with the lads, and yes played in May Day bank holiday footy match at Arkwrights with Andy Ahearn shouting non stop in your ears
@@charliehart9642 True enough Charlie, good times sadly missed i worked on the service team with Jay McGuinness , Chris Rostron. Andy aherne and his mate his mate Andy " Bozo" Waddington
