Welcome to FoxFire Off Grid Adventures!
We're a family of 4 and we recently purchased 100 acres in the Canadian woods. During the week, we are the typical family with careers, school projects, kids soccer games, Fortnite playing and balancing friends/family life in the city. On the weekends, we slow it right down out in the woods together as a family, living OUR dream. We're learning a lot as we go and will share our experiences with you every week!
Follow along our journey exploring, hiking, hunting, kayaking, ATV-ing, learning about nature and enjoying off grid adventures.

Off Grid Stuff in the Winter | Canadian Edition
We haven’t posted in quite some time but looking at getting back into editing videos regularly.
We spent a couple weekends recently at our off grid cabin and made lots of time for some good ‘ol’ Canadian winter fun. We skated, went for atv rides, prepped some firewood, checked out the water rushing out from the beaver dam and skated some more!

Testing the ice on our beaver pond and I joying the freezing temperatures. @foxfireoffgridadventures

Using a spud bar to test the ice on one of our beaver created ponds. This is one of our favourite things to do when the weather is so cold, SKATING AND HOCKEY! The first priority is always safety, so off we go to test the ice thickness. Generally 3-4” is bare minimum for thickness, but to skate, fall, wrestle, tackle and not fear going for a dip, I like to wait until it’s 6-7” thick. That way I...

will be watching again... hope you can get a tripod for camera
hope you and family are doing well and we see future content, cheers.
I have to keep muting because of the music :)
Cut the Music , just saying it’s distracting and I like to just watch and hear your comments as you go
Noted! Thanks for the tip
Squirrels carry disease
Also rodent poop can be toxic disease carriers
Sure can! Terribly smelly in there. Poop and mold smells are not pleasant.
Have it surveyed. One guy built a cabin and he was on the other person’s land by I think about 500 feet had to take his whole cabin down actually he just said it on fire parts of these cabins are good but I say light them on fire and start over, take out the wood-burning stoves and good stuff, etc.
Good time to have a fire.
You'll have to nock down two to make one ...
Will this also be used during the winter?
Unfortunately not, we don’t have heated lines at our cabin. Unless there’s another way?
@@foxfireoffgrid insulating the lines would be an easy and cheap project but I still wouldn't leave water sitting in the lines. However I imagine id freeze 😂
@OnceInAGreyMoon yeah prob would have to drain each time…worth considering for a desperate shower!
Animals love old dilapidated buildings.
Perfect home!
I’m looking forward to this project, good luck ❤🇦🇺🇦🇺
Accept the fact that Bigfoot is one of your neighbors😮😅😊
Haha too bad he’s camera shy!
Thanks! 🙏
I had my old tanks refitted with seals etc…then restamped for additional 10 years
Good to know!!!
Don't feel so bad about being scared of squirrels. I got chased out of a cabin by them. You're right, they can be mean.
They sure can! 🐿️ 😡
You move your camera too quickly
@@jamesricci881 I agree, trying to improve my recent shots. These were my very first videos, not even meant for UA-cam to begin with. lol
start burning stuff....................................................
Hahahaha quite tempting!
What do you do with the water? Wouldnt the chemicals from the shampoo or body wash not mess up the soil?
We mostly use environmentally safe products!
I knew I recognized that beautiful family
The gross water was precisely why I was looking up videos, so thank you! Haha
Glad I could help! Lol
How do you like the electric shift? Any problems with it?
Works well, no complaints. My wife likes it the most! 😎
Great vidéo! Your explanation is clear and suitable! I buy a Foreman ES EPS 2024 and you help me with my purchase. I love my ATV!🥰
Appreciate that my man!
I have a 2013 Honda Rancher 420 4x4 and i might check out a foreman or Rubicon.
No money as some are hoomeless. 🫏
Its gar eggs
Nah I don’t think so
Then again there’s a possibility of them being Salander eggs
I’m thinking this is a strong possibility
Gar eggs
Oh wow!
No Gar in our pond… can’t be that
Yes some kind of frogs
That’s what I’m thinking…just never seen them in a sac like that!
Soo creepy
Yuuup!
Hopefully you get something
🥰
Amazing keep posting 😊❤

That's amazing,Kathy😊
Thank you! Lots of work, but so worth it!
Yea but the downside is that what if someone passes by or ur dad and see u showering through those holes butt naked?
Haha we did think about this, and there’s nothing but forest behind & not really somewhere anyone would walk by. The cedar planks on the side are positioned perfectly so you can’t see anything but a head and ankles…peep that all day long. 🫶
Oh i want to eat it so much 🤤
Soooo Good!
I used to have goose for Christmas dinner when I was young. It’s the traditional meat of choice here in the UK for Christmas dinner. Roast potatoes cooked in goose fat are also amazing.
Wait wait wait the poor duck who is they😢😢
I’m assuming that you don’t eat meat, and that’s ok.

It’s a lot easier to pluck the feathers if you dip them in boiling water for a bit
We’ll have to try that next time!
Generally we do scald the bird to loosen the feathers if we have a ton of time, however, boiling water in a huge pot takes a lot of Fire and Water especially offgrid. We found many hands plucking works pretty good and we don’t have to go through the whole process of the water bath. Generally takes around 15-20 minutes.
Also, wet goose smells horrible, sorta like all wet feathers. 😂
What the fuck. Dont share this
Share what, real food from the real world? 🤷♂️
