The exhaust note says 3 cylinders….could it be????
Imagine Victorian navis (sp?) doing this job with sledgehammers. Those men worked so hard to build and maintain the rails.
Actually at the East Broad Top they still very much use spike mauls to do the work, its quite the exercise.
I could listen to the sounds of a steam train all day!
Were you down on strawberry hill with me?
Where is this locomotive today?
At Larry's house in Michigan
Frk that looks cool n sounds great. Cheers
just as 759 did.
What gauge is the track?
7.5
Who knows the whereabouts of the trains that Mr Leslie Payne from flint Michigan wound up after his death like 30 years ago??? He had a train this scale in his yard in the flint area.. hope a reply here!
Ask your question in the "Backyard Railroading" group on Facebook
Where is this located?? I’m in Fenton and would love to visit!!
What a beautiful machine.
Awesome!
Do you ever deliver anything or just keep going in circles
Well, the rerailer works pretty good!
Sounds great!
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954
0,
My dad took me there back in the 80s i forget which year. He's increased it.
The railroad was started in the late 1980s, so it certainly has grown since then.
Awesome ride that must have been liked and subbed
That bridge is sweet. Great video. Subbed.
Nice. I have a 3.5 inch gauge I want to get going and build a line on my property.
We have one of these in Largo, FL at the Largo Central park. It's huge and runs many trains and on the last weekend of every month they run them for free for anyone that wants to ride. It's fun. The kids, adults everybody loves it and has fun.
That’s my 12 year old son!!! ❤❤ Great video!
thank you youtube I missed it
well, I'll be dammed, that's pretty cool
Is this a private club? Do you allow visitors? Like 2 not a bus load.
This is a privately owned railroad.
I love how the graveyard has a grave that says ben dover 😂
Awesome locomotive you have there.
Do you think he'd ever sell that beast? Also, the eccentric crank on the right side appears to move more than on the left. Could just be me.
What A beautiful Engine and sound
He’s so little, my first thought was minion engineer.
Any blind drivers ?.....how about the lateral motion?...how much is there
#3 wheelset is blind. Tire width is a bit too narrow. Overall it should have more lateral movement.
How do do you make a blind driver wider, than what the casting already is ?....a completely flat wheel, with no flange ??
@@hoppercar you make a tire that has a wider tread than a standard width tire. For full-size, standard tire width is usually 5.5" (including the flange). Blind tires may be 6.25" or possibly more.
Seems to me that extra width tire would either rub the frames on the backside, or interfere with the connecting rods on the front side ?
@@hoppercar that just depends on the total amount of clearance, how much lateral is desired, and if that was planned for in any way in advance.
That whistle...❤️
I would be in heaven if I could have driven that beast when I was a wee lad.
In my opinion the best estate railway ever made! Thanks for the video
Very cool, Larry
Didn’t 14 need new driving wheels or just the centers?? Had that pop in my head for that reason
Why are the cylinder cocks open all the time?
Are visitors allowed to go here? Is there a website?
This is a private track at a private residence and not open to the public. When there are meets there, they are not well known.
@@a5wr1ght A friendly bunch then
👍👀🤟
I think the original 765 was wrecked we rebuilt that engine renamed 765 in ft Wayne Indiana in the 80s I welded on the boiler tube and fire box
The 765 has always been what it is. When Fort Wayne asked for a locomotive for display, they specifically asked for the 767 because it was the first for some special event ages ago. Because of the exceptionally poor (or possibly scrapped) condition of the actual 767, the NKP pulled a fast one on the city of Fort Wayne and renumbered the 765 after retirement to 767. When the "767" was pulled from its display to be rebuilt, it was eventually discovered that the NKP did this "switch-a-roo" and 765 was restored to its original number.
didn't know that they named their engines
I'd kill for an engine like that.
dead locomotives
that doesn't mean they will never run again the guy said they was busy repairing one of them
@@eliotreader8220 16 is the first to be restored, then 15, 14, 18, 17 and 12 hopefully in that order
@ Raymond Leggs not for long. Don’t be surprised to hear new updates in the next week or two.
Great video & beautiful locomotive! Thanks for sharing.
I noticed that the hotbox detectors are going off and alerting the crew of 765 of a defect, I can imagine the crew were thinking,"Shut up, that's just the steam".
Sum kind of cc201 horn
