Great video as always! I wanted to know if it's possible for you to do some highlights of Federer's matches in Halle. It's so hard to find anything here on UA-cam
Tremendous hitting
Thats some really heavy hitting. Most of the shots sound like gun shots. Roger as always puts his whole body weight behing the shot plus the heavy raquet he plays with. 4:41
Imagine putting your best effort and still losing 6-4 6-2. That's crazy.
First tournament of Federer with the Wilson RF97 prototype black paint job.
They are smacking the absolute hell out of the ball
yes 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good work man! Nice to have you back
Nobody does it better. I miss Roger.
GOATED!
That young fella can be really good when he grows up
Great upload. Do you have the Federer vs Ferrer match from Cincinnati 2009? Thanks.
2:56 lol Bernardes called wrong “game and first set Federer” at 5-3
Mega rare!!

فيدرر هو أعظم لاعب تنس فى التاريخ حتى الآن والدليل بالرقام وهو مالا يدع مجالات للشك
I would have loved to see prime Samprass maybe 94-95 v federer 2007-2010
You are on fire bro
I miss the white elegance of those years. No comparison of today’s awful outfit
Thank you for your extraordinary work, Mr(s) FH! 😊🙏🏽❤ All match long, I was trying to compare Fed's "form" here with the Federer we all came to know as tennis's aesthetic ideal. Here are some of my observations. I'd love to hear from other Fed fans what they made of it. 1. Fed's service motion is obviously different, with a much more arched back. At 18 y.o, perhaps such an arch was necessary to generate power. 2. Federer's serve position, both here and in other matches from his earlier years, is very different from the position he would adopt a few years later. This is most noticeable on the ad court, where he stands much further left of the centre service line. Perhaps the intention is to create a better angle for the serve (to a righty's backhand). Or perhaps he was testing what worked. It's also possible that he hadn't mastered a toss that would allow him to "hit his spots" like he would begin to do later on, from a service position much closer to the centre line. 3. Fed's drive BH, despite the smaller (85 sq. inch) racquet is very solid from the baseline, possibly more solid than it would be in his prime years. But the reason for that could be - 1) the slow clay and 2) the limitations of his slice and 3) playing a teenager not named Nadal. Also, despite being solid, Fed has not yet learnt to play the angles too well; a lot of his shots falling not very far from the court's centre line and didn't seem to make Malisse, with his solid backhand, uncomfortable. That said, Fed's BH half-volleys from the baseline act like a precursor to what would come - where he was constantly standing his ground & using his hand skills to hit half-volleys, on all surfaces. 4. Fed's slice was quite raw! Indeed, I was suprised to see how raw it was - there was none of the guile it would become known for nor the variety (including the short slice to draw the player in). Instead, Malisse seemed to play the slice better - or at least more usefully - than Fed when he did play it. Again, Fed actually seemed more focussed on driving his BH. He also seems not yet to have incorporated the disguised dropper which would go on to fool his opponents over and over. 5. Fed's movement is terrible (though Malisse's is perhaps worse). It's understandable - it looks like it was a hot day and these two were teenagers who were still learning to play 5 setters. Still, Fed's movement seems almost lackadaisical - several shots he hits are hit from a stationary position and there is none of the constant (floating) movement of his feet that made it seem like he was gliding or floating. On the contrary, he seems flat-footed at times, even stumbling once, and either unable to or uninterested in running down drop shots or sliding towards Malisse's passing shots. 6. Fed's volleys are very average. There are several poor (or at least uncertain) approaches that lack initiative and he misses several easy volleys. It is a far cry from the Fed who would go on to become one of his time's premier volleyers. Like I said already, his movement towards dipping balls hit at angle (and which require a delicate touch to go over) is especially poor. 7. Fed's overhead was already elite! Some of them are beyond excellent (though one that he missed cost him the 4th set and the match (?). His willingness to take it out of the air even in a midcourt position is very rare. It's no wonder he went on have the best, most dependable overhead on tour. 8. Finally - we come to Fed's FH. What to make of it? It is obviously his biggest strength (though clay and his limitations with the slice BH saw him driving his BH quite nicely), much bigger than his serve at this point. He already has his characteristic windshield-wiper motion going, where the racquet ends up behind his hip. (That said, the start of the swing seems to have less takeback, possibly a consequence of his not-yet-elite movement.) He has learnt to run around his BH to hit a FH (to the extent that his movement allowed him) and he also seems to some nice angles worked out, but it isn't yet the absolute weapon it would become. The topspin control isn't there yet (you can see this in one awkward forecourt approach) and the footwork hasn't yet reached the stage to become the "greatest shot in our sport" (as McEnroe called it). All in all - a decent match and a great reminder that even Fed's tennis needed polishing before it could become tennis's aesthetic ideal.
Watched almost the whole match with a smile on my face. 😊 Thanks for the upload, FH! 😊🙏🏽
Great job. Can you upload Federer vs Corretja from Madrid 2003?
I'll add all 3 requests in my list.
Do you have Federer vs Kafelnikov from Davis Cup 2002? Thanks.
Do you have Federer vs Hewitt from Davis Cup 2000? Thanks.
Good match
Samurai ahh federer is back at it 😂 Thanks for uploading this rare gems, although this one is too short :(
Thanks. Unfortunately, those copyrights are so frustrated... P.S. I thought this was his only tournament with this hairstyle. But I was wrong, we still have a chance to see matches with the same one.
@@FedererHome can't believe this match is copyrighted and blocked... ATP is so frustrating. This is how they wanna promote tennis?
Haha, they should pay us for promotion :)
Hoffentlich gab's Physio.

Great match!
Fun to watch, and I hate to spoil everyone's fun, but Federer was being "nice" and taking it easy on Sampras. He wanted to give the crowd their money's worth. Fed could have easily beat Sampras 6-3, 6-1 (or better). But if he played his best, he would have: 1) Embarrassed Sampras 2) Made it a really short match, thus disappointing the fans who had paid a lot of money 3) Felt like a jerk in this match that was supposed to be "fun" I mean, come on, 2008 was prime Federer and no one in the world (except Nadal) could touch him.
Conversely, if Sampras had the same legs from his youth, he would have caught up to a lot more of those winners Federer hit.
Actually, Sampras spared the then-number-one Federer the disgrace of losing to someone who hadn`t played for 6 years. Leading 5:2 in the final set.... The 1990-s era of serve-and-volley was the best in tennis history. Only Djokovic could post a threat to Pete Sampras back then.
You do know Federer beat Sampras at Wimbledon 2001?
@@davced1 Yes, a match Sampras could have won and clearly played with less than 50% of the potential.
