Superliner 101 Hobby Farming
Приєднався 5 вер 2016
My Story:
Named after a Mack truck and my favorite number, I started this channel when I was 10 years old to make videos about the different things that I would randomly do with vehicles. I then began to gather more farm equipment, and now mainly upload farming videos where I'm either doing work for other people, or learning to farm on my own! I post videos AT LEAST monthly, varying in content type based on the season…

In today's video, I begin the process of getting all the equipment ready for the 2024 season... sorta. I ended up doing less than I had initially planned on because I got “burnt out,” which I explain why in the video. Also, as of uploading this I have fixed the electrical issue on the Case from the previous video. Thanks for watching!

We could put my case on the baler to see if that’s enough power 😂
I really like seeing your 1200 David Brown out earning it's keep. I've got several case tractors that are just David Brown with restyled sheet metal but I wish I could find a nice 1200 , 995 and 885 to add to my collection. Take care and thanks for sharing with us friend
@@johnnysharpe3812 Thanks for commenting!
Ran oneof these in the 70s and 80s.
I learned driving a tractor on this type, they are nice and nimble and very handy for lighter tasks! Good luck with it!👍
Good luck with it. I had a chance to buy one, but not knowing a lot about them, asked an older neighbor what he thought. He was easily the most knowledgeable person I knew where tractors were in mind, and his son worked at the dealer in town that sold them. He spit out a whole mouthful and said, "you gotta' split the whole damn tractor to change a fan belt- your better off to stick with what you got." 😄 Pressed a bit, he said they run and work well, but repairing and maintaining them was a problem, particularly the automatics.
@@floydblandston108 I’ve had good luck with my 1200 so far, hoping this 990 is just as good!
That's a good tractor
@@elizabethnybeck9935 Thanks, I’m pretty happy with it so far!
@superliner101hobbyfarming we have all kinds of different tractors the one my husband hates is the 4 cyl 35 Massey diesel called it the bastard diesel

@superliner101hobbyfarming yeah it would help lol we us a new Holland 3939 4x4 with duels

that’s awesome!
Sounds great superb machines
That would have been a huge smoke cloud outside!
Over here in Australia quite often the 1200 had 18.4x34 tyres with huge cast centres if you could get some of them on it it would make a lot of difference
@@bradleamon4466 I definitely need more weight in the rear!

@@don66hotrod94 thank you! It certainly is
That's gonna make a LOT of hay. Wowsers
I am so excited to see your farm grow.
@@lifeofafarmer1281 thank you! Maybe one day I’ll have a hay mowing setup as cool as this one
i love that ford
I came here from a UA-cam clip and everyone in the comments is b******* about the smoke tube calling it a woke tube and some dude said in the 80s they never had anything like that and the rooms never got smokey, Somebody posted this in response to them and now I believe that person was completely lying or they had no idea what the hell was going on at the event they went to in the 80s especially since i looked up that these tubes became pretty widely implemented since the 70s.
Just curious…turning over grassy pasture ground, wouldn’t it have worked better to use a moldboard plow?
Yes
Looks like you needed a moldboard plow in that field
Would’ve been better. I’ve got a 3 bottom moldboard but I was concerned that tractor wouldn’t have what it took to run it deep enough in that hard ground to do a nice job
@@superliner101hobbyfarming You could always host a plow day! Those are always fun 👍
@@superliner101hobbyfarming Pulled a 3x16 with a 990 in any sort of dirt for years. Would’ve made a much better job of flipping that sod.
That Ole girl just keeps on pulling and giving you some good service and getting the ground worked with little fuss. I've always liked the David Brown tractors and own several of the case models made by David Brown.
They really do run cheap. You get excellent life out of them with little fuel consumption, and they have a lot of power for their overall size!
@@superliner101hobbyfarming yea I've learned they are some of the most economical tractors ever made. When I used to grind my hog feed with a 766 international I would burn 25+ gallons of fuel to grind 18 ton of feed and now I'm burning 15-16 grinding the same amount of feed with my 1394 case. Just a simple reliable tractor for what I need
Total disaster.
yooo
A chisel plow is for already farmed ground. For stirring up last seasoned ground.
love them IH disc harrows used a set like that before here in the UK
that does look some tuff land to get that through , that is a good old David Brown , i have never seen a Lely Chisel plough before , but it looks a solid machine , it may just be a sticker on something else , I wonder if its sort of a home made chisel plough with some old Lely frame perhaps
The way it’s built doesn’t give me the impression that it would be homemade, but then again I have yet to see another one like it
@@superliner101hobbyfarming understood , perhaps there is a part number on a tine or one of the points that may help , you may be able to look up that and see what it fits , just a thought
Lely model S-8-6 walking shank chisel plow - Open Government found this if the link works
@@jamesmarsh4957 Took a look, definitely very different from mine but at least we know they made some chisel plows!
@@superliner101hobbyfarming thats what i thought we know now they made them
Not an expert but I thought a chisel plow had 2 springs Maybe your is what they would consider an heavy cultivator ?
It varies. Most have 2 but I’ve seen some that don’t have any
Satisfactory result❤❤❤❤
When I was around twelve and thirteen I would work all day in the field loading bales of hay onto the truck to make money to spend during the summer. Enjoyed watching!
Glad you liked it!
Great looking setup
Awesome
Great Video!
You really screwed that field up! You will never get it leveled out, you’re going to need a tuff butt to stay in the seat on that field for the rest of time!!
2 passes with the disc and it was smooth enough to run over it at decent speed
Let’s see what you think at hay time
That's what happens when someone thinks they are a farmer ,and realise they are not
lol
not nice to run him down for having a go with the kit he has managed to get , yes needs ploughing but he will still get a seed bed with some disc work and perhaps chisel plough a bit deeper on a second pass , he says its a hobbyfarming
Moldboard plow for sod. Chisel plow just makes a mess out of it.
For sure. I’m just hoping it plows better next year!
Good day from Ontario Yes thinking back we had 7 tooth on 55 hp Shallower 1st to break hard pan, deeper 2nd time Boy I really like JD fenders Maybe should have been mole board plough??? not sure Thx
I probably should have moldboard plowed it, guess I was too stubborn and wanted to chisel it lol. Yea I think the JD fenders look better than the original clam shells
@@superliner101hobbyfarming Yes by far on fenders. Well if u chisel it 2nd time try go a little deeper or smoother it should work Up here we fall plough 1 yr didn't gert finished froze spring plough wow no good, not mositur
...imagine busting that sod with a mule and a one bottom plow! Keep a peerson out of trouble I guess...there would be no heading to the tavern after a full day of that...the mule wouldn't feel much like partying either...
Haha no sir that would not be a fun day… or days
Those little CASE VAC's were good little tractors much more power than rated for and are still sought after today not just show and collector tractors but everyday field use tractors because they are that good.
YAAAAAAAA
I remember that short little video, love to see the full circle moment here!
She sounds real good.
Let guess. A case VAC pulling a NH 256 rake and baling with either a NH 68 or 69?
Close, it’s a 259 rake. The baler is a 69
When you add fluid keep your hole of jug up and you spill less
Good day from Ontario. Are those 1200 fenders standard. Ths
No sir, that is probably the only 1200 around with those fenders because they are actually John Deere fenders I painted white and put on. Tractor had clam shell style fenders on it originally and I prefer the look of the flat tops
@@superliner101hobbyfarming OK It does make tractor a little more beefy looking Thanks
Subscriber # 448. I'm here because Dad, and I each owned a VAC. 1943, and 1948. Thank you.
Thanks for subscribing!
What are the rear fenders on the 1200?
They are John Deere fenders that would’ve been on like a 4020 or a 3010 for example. I didn’t like the clam shell type fenders the tractor had originally
