Thanks this was helpful
Awesome! Glad it helped you!
I love the sound of my eventide pedals so so much but I truly feel like they're unusable live without y'alls products so thanks so much for making these switches and the videos that show how to use them!
Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Very cool, gotta get one indeed
Great, informative video! Really cool product.
Thanks!
Thanks, Ryan!
You're welcome!
For the 3 switch, Can you program the middle switch to do tap tempo on a TIMELINE and the other switches to bank up and down ?
I don't believe so. To my knowledge, if you program the aux switches to TAP in the global settings, the middle switch would be tap tempo and the other 2 switches become preset up and preset down. Really wish Strymon allowed you to program aux switches independently, not as pre-determined sets.
Sorry guys... great products but you're a little late. Those trs switches are in the market since ever.
Thanks for your comment! Aux switches have definitely been around a long time. Heck, we've been selling them for a decade! You might have missed why these are different, though. The main thing being, they work with more pedals than your average aux switch can.
I'm from the days of having the on/off footswitch that came with your amp. Those were your choices. Coming back from a long hiatus of playing, this is all new to me. I'm having to learn all new things. Your videos are really helping with this. Thanks!
@@swervature glad we could help!
Another informative video guys!
@@TripppleP13 Thanks!
I made this with two switches and two resistors for under $10

Is it possible to add expression pedal additionaly instead of barn3 tap-tuner?
Not with this setup. When using an expression with the H9, you are limited to only being able to program one footswitch. Eventide has info on this here---> www.eventideaudio.com/support/using-both-an-aux-switch-and-an-expression-pedal-with-h9/

That combo is pretty rad.
Ha! That was awesome..I just ordered your 3 switch OX for my H90
Great! Thanks so much!
Super cool video. Ryan does a good interview.
Thanks!

Holy shit, other people know who Minus the Bear is? I thought I was the only one!
They're the best! So much fun watching Dave play these songs live.
We are not alone!
I've been a fan of Minus the Bear for like 20 years now. Still on my main playlist. Great Vid!
One of my favorites! I've had the pleasure of seeing them live many times.

Plan to get this. How does it work with an Exp Pedal? I have a Mission Engineering SP-H9
The H90 has two inputs on the back for aux / Expresssion. So you could plug the OXU into one and your expression into the other.
But the SP-H9 needs two inputs
@@nicolasrivas6701 We don't have that specific expression pedal. You'd have to ask Mission how their pedal would work with the H90.
"Tell me something you didn't know you needed until you found out it existed." ME: [points at OXU] I found out about Barn3 via an Eventide newsletter this AM. Not really sure how I hadn't heard of you before. Glad I did, though. Now I'm questioning other aspects of my life like, 'how long I was actually in a coma' and 'was that guy that had me undress really a doctor.' I saw where this works with the BOSS 500 Series and was wondering what your thought would be on using it with a BOSS GT-1000CORE. It seems that they would both be based on the same tech. I'm not asking you to run and buy one, just an opinion. Have a great weekend! Also, Mind blown that you include the cables
Hi! We're glad you found us! Based on the user manual for that pedal, it looks like the OXU Mini or Standard would work just fine. As with most Boss pedals, the OXU Three would be overkill, because that pedal only accepts up to two footswitches. Hope that helps!
@@Barn3llc -- Forgive the delay in my response. Such is life. Thanks for the answer and pointing me in the right direction! Cheers.
This was very helpful and set up was a breeze. Thanks Barn3!
Oxcellent!!!
Very nice. I guess it’ll work just as well with a Boss GT1000 Core ?
@modernchair7692 based on the user manual for the GT1000 it will definitely work. We don't have any specific programming recommendations for that pedal because we don't own one at this time.
Aux Tua !!
How can you program a switch to load a specific program? Let’s say you have three programs that are essential to you, and you always want to be able to access them with one tap. You put them in bank 1 A, 1B, and 1C and you’d like the OX switches 1,2, and 3 to always activate each of them, respectively. Hoe can this be done? Thank you!
This isn't an option on the H90. You'd have to use a MIDI controller to load specific program numbers. I'm not sure exactly what mode you're trying to recall presets in, but one option that might help is you could program one of the OXU switches to "Mode Toggle" which can switch back and forth between select and perform mode quickly. Also, when in Bank Mode, you can press and hold the left most H90 footswitch to go back to bank 1 from whatever bank you're on. You can keep your top 3 presets there.
@@Barn3llc thank you!!
Awesome Video!
How do you set it up with a boss Sy-200?
We don't currently have that specific pedal. Aux setup instructions are on pages 9-11 in the user manual of the SY-200. We will make a specific video for this pedal when and if we get one.
@@Barn3llc Thanks. I got it figured out eventually.
Great video.
If you have the hot switches for a program controlled by the OX3, do you have to be in perform mode to use the hot switches, or could you be in bank mode to switch programs easily while the OX3 allows you to access the hot switches of whichever program your using?
Great question. Yes. Whatever you set up your OXU switches to do on a program level will follow those programs in bank mode.
I'm guessing this works about the same with Big Sky MX?
Based on the user manual, it looks like it will work exactly the same way.
Does it work with the BOSS SDE 3000?
Based on page 29 of the SDE-3000 manual, it looks like you could connect two separate two button OXUs (Standard or Mini) if you really wanted. You would put the OXU in the B (Boss) setting and you will have to use the power adapter. I can't comment on specific programming for this pedal since we don't have one here.
@Barn3llc Thank you for your response. I'll look into that. I'm going to get two of the three button switches, one for the h90 and one for the big sky mx.
@@Musicislife668 Awesome! Thanks!
Lmao, thats a really elaborate instructional for something so simple. Why would you need a custom mounting plate for it, its not a midi controller? Just put it on your pedalboard. GFI systems makes a triple switch thats adds an additional button and is only 50$. Anyone watching this, get a midi controller like a Midi baby or Paint Audio Duo, far more powerful and cheaper than this. This is shameless branding
Thanks for the easy to follow guide.
That pedal combo looks super versatile.
Hi, thanks for the video. Could you show how to connect multiple Boss 200 series pedals using MIDI cables and set it up so that the Boss IR-200 sends the tempo to the other pedals? Thanks!
Well, we don't currently have the IR-200, but we are planning on doing more tutorial content in the coming weeks and months. One video we hope to do is a general overview of how you can use tempo sync over MIDI to different pedals.
Can you guys post the actual sizes of the switches on your website? I'm assuming the standard is 6.5" but I have no idea how big the mini is. Also any chance for a Morningstar MC6 triple?
The sizes are listed in a chart on the OXU page of our website. The mini is 4 3/4" wide and a little over 1 1/4" deep. Based on the MC6 manual, any of the OXUs will work with it with the OXU in Normal mode.
Super pedals dudes!
For those of us who missed the boat... What is an aux-switch and what does the OX do?
Aux switches, in general, add additional functionality to an effects pedal. Depending on the options of the pedal you're connecting an aux switch to, you can add things like preset changing, banking up and down, tap tempo, hotswitch functionality, etc. But there's several different types of aux switches out there, so you have to know which one you need. The OXU combines the 4 most common aux switching types in one pedal.
@@Barn3llc Hi, What about "expression" aux switches? That is more of a focus for me than footswitches. I have been looking at midi controllers along the way. On an aside, yet slightly related -- I just put up a gear-vid/creative-signal-routing on my channel a week ago, where I describe my mis-use of the I/O ports on my Pod-Go. I utilize a compact mixer to blend dry/semi-dry/wet (three separate pathways).
@czarofzonk1360 yeah expression pedals are a different thing, usually for varying some type of effect. Some folks want aux switching for the static banking, tempo, hotswitch, etc functions, others want expression for modifying effects in real time. Some pedals like the Eventide H90 allow you to have both at the same time.
So it’s not compatible with Fractal?
The FM3 can accept a two button aux switch like the OXU Standard or Mini. Are you curious about a different Fractal product?
Why don’t you mention Fractal compatibility in your demo and website- I am sure it’s common question
@@user-sn3cs2hd8r There's lots of companies and specific pedals that we don't mention. And it mainly comes down to the fact that we are a very small company with limited resources. So we tried to focus on the specific brands and pedals that our customers had been requesting for years. In the coming weeks and months we will be making more content and adding to our list on our website as we learn about other brands and pedals that the OXUs will work with. The bottom line is that the "Normal" setting on the OXU will work with most pedals out there that accept momentary aux switches.
Brilliant Gents! I have no need for this right now BUT I wish you Great Success to reward your hard work! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Thanks for the kind words!
Nice🤘👽
What do these do?
They're auxiliary switches. They plug into other effects pedals and expand the functionality of those pedals. We have a bunch of other videos that go into more detail about specific functions.
Quad Cortex?
We don't see anything in the user manual for the Quad Cortex about aux switching. Just expression and MIDI.
Way under $900 at the top end
Can you use this with a BOSS GT-1000CORE?
Based on their user manual, it looks like it does! You'll set the OXU up in the Boss settings explained in the manual. Just remember that Boss only allows two aux switches to be programmed. So the third switch on the OXU Three would be unused. We'd probably recommend the OXU Standard for this setup.
