    This is finest art - beautifull, light, bright, breath taking. Best opera experience ever.

    PAPAGENO es uno de los protagonistas mas importantes de la OPERA la flauta mágica....El le pone el GRAN toque humorístico de la obra de Mozart, como que equilibra la temática del DRAMA y amor de Pamina y Pamino. todo ello dentro de un marco evidentemente mazon. La Opera en mención es GENIAL.

    I saw that what I wrote about Wagnercame among what was written about bei Männer welche Liebe fuehlen there is a clip where hagegård sings ach du holder Abendstern as i see it as Wagner intended

    Wagner would have loved this he was anardent lover of belcanto and should probably been terrified of the wagner performances nowadays with screaming singers trying to be heard over big orchestras with brass instruments build for Sousa marches

    Beautiful! I love this film and aria. Anyone know the English translation?

    • @ToddSF
      @ToddSF 8 років тому

      Here's an English translation of the original German libretto, a literal one that doesn't rhyme or have the correct meter to be sung to Mozart's music. (Pleaste note that what is being sung in the video is a poetic Swedish translation of the German, so what's below is NOT an English translation of the Swedish translation.) In men who feel love, A good heart is not lacking. To sympathize with those sweet instincts Is, then, the first duty of wives. We want to be happy with love -- We live through love alone,We live through love alone, Love sweetens every trial; Every creature offers itself to love. It sweetens our daily lives, It beckons us into the circle of nature. Its higher purpose clearly indicates Nothing is more noble than wife and man. Man and wife, and wife and man, Man and wife, and wife and man, Reach to the height of Godliness. Man and wife, and wife and man, Reach to the height of Godliness. To Godliness, to Godliness. ======================================= The problem with translating song lyrics or poetry is this: if a translation is beautiful, it is not faithful, and, conversely, if a translation is faithful it is not beautiful.

      On the contrary! I think that is beautiful. Thank you for this. I've known this film all my life and this is the first time I've known that this meant.

    1. En god och trogen maka Vill Papageno ha Och tänk vad det ska smaka ///Den dag hon säger ja 2. Ty får jag en kyss av min flicka Då glömmer jag äta och dricka Den sällaste känsla som finns Ska låta mig må som en prins Jag glömmer att äta och dricka Den sällaste känsla som finns Ja, då ska jag må som en prins //Jag ska må som en prins [1.] 3. Men ingen tycks visst vilja ha mig Jag vet inte en som vill ha mig Ifall ingen alls vill mig väl Då led jag förvisso ihjäl Vad gör jag om ingen vill ha mig? Ifall ingen alls vill mig väl Då led jag förvisso ihjäl //Då leds jag ihjäl

    In 1975 I started to learn German. In 1977 I went to Germany for the first time. The same year I saw Bergman's 'Magic Flute' for the first time. I have never grown tired of this joyous masterpiece.

    @pettymolly I dont think Mozart cared much about the language he wrote for since he wanted to make money for the operas he wrote. He gave us wonderful music that everyone can understand. The libretto is changed so we can appreciate the lyrics and dialogs aswell. They did a live production in Gothenburgs Operahouse last year based on Ingmars film. It was fabolous. Im sure many more swedish people felt more interested to appreciate Mozarts music when the libretto was in swedish.
