Can you tell me, is the reason wingsuits use parachutes because they are going too fast and need to slow down before landing? Is there no way to wingsuit all the way to a landing? Like Superman……
On this jump, I am reaching speeds of over 125 mph. Imagine jumping out of a car at 125 mph in the mountains😳 We call parachutes, canopies in BASE (Buildings, Antenna, Spans (bridges), Earth). These canopies are designed explicitly for the BASE environment to open quicker and fly slower than skydiving canopies. In a BASE environment, we typically open our canopies a few hundred feet above the ground, whereas in a skydiving environment, openings typically occur above 3,500+ feet.
@@jturner7280 Oh thanks, I thought it was probably speed related, but never having seen in real life it’s hard to get the sense of how fast, and I had NO idea it was over 125mph. No wonder that poor person who hit the bridge didn’t make it. I wish I could do base jumping, it looks incredible!

did some cliff jumping recently into water and even from a couple dozen feet, it takes a lot of nerve to jump. I cant imagine jumping with nothing below you

Brother, everything is relative. The higher you are up without obstacles, the safer it is. The point of the video was to show some of the things happening before the jump.
