Hi Dr. Schink, Thank you for the very clear and concise q/a session. My question is the following: For patients with advanced ovarian cancer at diagnosis, does having a BRCA1 mutation confer survival advantages? I was diagnosed in 1994 and my BRCA1 mutation identified in 1996. Since that time, I have read a few scientific articles published in peer reviewed journals that seem to indicate that BRCA1 mutation may enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy and provide improved survival time. I am however not up to date on the scientific literature on this topic and would appreciate your expertise. Thank you for your assistance.
