The Two Acre Homestead
United States
Приєднався 22 лют 2021
Welcome to The Two Acre Homestead. We are located in Cochise County, which is in Southern Arizona. in 2021 we just upgraded from an Urban Homestead which was on .18 of an acre. Now we are on 2.16 acres. We chose to document the start of this new homestead in hopes to inspire and help those who are looking to get out of the rat race of urban life to more quieter, country, and spacious life on a homestead.

Good for you all! Balance.
This is why our videos have slowed down, too. We have been so busy!! I have felt that way about IG too. We are glad that we got to be one of your podcasts. It was so much fun to interact with you!
Thank you Nancy! We loved having you on the show, and we shall do it again soon!
Greetings from Yavapai County. Coming out of lurk mode to say I appreciate you as a fellow Zonie trying to grow food in the desert Southwest. I only follow you on YT, because of my own time management priorities. Your precious family is your treasure! Up here in NAZ, we barely got rain this summer, and it’s still hot out. I have Notifications on for whenever you may post new videos. Budgeting is always a good topic.😊
Thanks!
Are you on city water or well?
We are on city.
Hi Lisa, I love listening to your podcast, it's nice to see what your homestead looks like. Are you planning on doing more podcast? Also, do you milk your goats?
Hi @LaylaRyanBrown, for the immediate future no podcast, not until 2025. Honestly, it's too much to juggle at this time. We do milk our goats and make wonderful cheese with it. 😉
@@thetwoacrehomestead Well I have to say I am sad to hear about the podcast. Will you do any cheese and dairy making videos?
@@LaylaRyanBrown I have done some dairy videos in the past. It's possible to do them in the future.
I love the lemon grass! Can't wait to see what the new changes are. Thanks Lisa for all you do. ~D
Thanks Nettie!
Great video. Mulch is certainly most important for us here in Nova Scotia as well!
Thanks! I love mulch mainly for the weed suppression and the nutrients it adds back to soil. I would imagine in Nova Scotia, it would be the wind that would dry out the soil?
Love Arizona! My brother lives in Sedona!
Im new here and sorta new to gardening food. I live in south Florida and its really hot hear too. I've already learned so much from you! ❤
Welcome! So happy that we can help you.

My favorite plant corn watching here from philippines
Hey welcome! Corn is one of my favorites too. Nothing beats home grown.
@@thetwoacrehomestead yes my no1 favorite
Ok
That okra is beautiful!!
Thank you Sarah!
Oh, also, have you tried growing a hybrid tomato? I know there are some that can produce even in high heat.
I used to grow a hybrid called heat master, you can get the seeds from Johnnys Seeds. The problem is the heat changed almost by 20 degrees in a few days. So the plants never got a chance to climatize properly.
Hi Lisa, thanks for the video. Your sunflowers look like they are dying, do you fertilize them?
Hi. I do not fertilize them. They are looking really bad, but so are all of my neighbors too. It's the sun itself. The rays are unusually intense.
just talk n talk n talk
Thank you.
Those are very pretty carrots!🥕
Thank you so much!!
oh I forgot to add, thanks for video.
You're welcome!
Do you have the measurements for the house salt recipe? It sounds like a good spice.
Yes I do! I will be putting the measurement on our website, so stay tuned for that
Nice
Thank you.
Do you have any trouble with your plants getting sunburned? Too much sun and heat is a problem here.
Yes. The desert sun is brutal. That is why I use my sun loving plants that like to climb and other plants like okra to provide afternoon shade.
I love that you have horseradish and artichokes! So different!!! And did you say cumin?!
Yep, cumin. I am so excited to grow it this year.
@@thetwoacrehomestead I am looking forward to seeing everything in full production!
@@maplewoodhomestead2017 Thanks my friend!
Hi, I seen your channel on Heather’s channel on Sage and Stone so I am stopping by and following. I am from Louisiana but I now live in Mississippi but I lived in Mesa and Apache Junction Arizona too😊…Enjoyed your content!! God Bless
Thank you Flo! From the Dry desert to warm moisture of Mississippi, thats gotta be a shock to the system (in the best way). Welcome, glad you subscribed. ☺
The goats named Maple like to surprise us!
They sure do.
Awesome video!
Thanks Nettie! 🥰
I cant believe your last frost is later than ours in TN. Crazy! Everything is looking so good!!! Btw, great to meet your Maple!
Thanks, It was good to meet your Maple too.
Luna and Umbra!
Great ideas! I love that you included things that you can keep long term and overwinter (squash and sweet potatoes). Don't you wish watermelons were the same way? (I agree about the canteloupe and the taste). The great things about herbs is they can also be used medicinally as well (Herbs don't save us money, but if used as a companion planting such as basil and tomatoes), can help have more tomatoes! So maybe thats a way that herbs can save money, by helping to produce healthier fruit bearing plants?
Yes you are right. Medicinal herbs save your money in the long run.
Herbs don’t save me money but it does encourage me to use more herbs in my cooking.
Me too.
The STORM is here! People just don't want to know or admit it. Many people think I am CRAZY, but I know I am not
You are not alone! Trust me, you are not crazy!
Great video…you did a great job explaining everything…looking forward to future videos on your homestead.❤️
Thank you so much!
Rl Tha am you for answering my custons. I'll listen to thos🎉e podcasts and read those articles.
Awesome, glad we could help.
I so agree! I think “stocking up” before the challenge is kind of … I can’t think of the word. It kind of defeats the purpose. The purpose of this is to use …what you HAVE… not what you buy in preparation. I so agree with you and great job posting this. Real life! 👍🏻👍🏻🤗
Thank you
I know I wouldnt enjoy eating just whats in my pantry for a full month, but it makes me happy to use my canned goods. I am trying to keep growing greens for year round use, but havent been successful yet. Maybe next year!
That's great!
Do you eat the fermented garlic straight or put in foods? I always wondered how you are supposed to use the fermented honey garlic. I am new lol
I use mine in recipes… think honey garlic chicken over rice (cooked in meat) or drizzle it over roasted carrots and Brussels sprouts… I have also taken a teaspoon straight when I’m not feeling great to help
Bree, I forgot to tell you that we answered your question on a podcast episode we recently did. Check it out, its the "you've got questions, we got answers" episode, published a few weeks ago.
