      Hello... thanks for your question. So in Hindi we say "Main to yaad hunga" when we have already met someone, right? In English, we could say "You already know me" [because we have met before], or "We have already met."

    Mann me yaad kro.....how to say in English?

    • @GatewayEnglishTeaching
      @GatewayEnglishTeaching Рік тому

      Hi there... thanks for your question. In Hindi, we say "Mann me yaad kro" when we want someone to memorise something quietly, right? Maybe they are saying a sentence out loud over and over again, and we can't concentrate on what we are doing. In English, in this situation we might say, "Can you memorise that more quietly" or "Can you memorise that in your head."

    Thanks for the video. I would like to know the rules with regard to tourist and public places like museums, parks, zoos, national parks, sanctuaries, etc

    • @GatewayEnglishTeaching
      @GatewayEnglishTeaching Рік тому

      Hello, good question. For zoos, tourist and other public places we often use "the" because there is generally only one of them. For example: We went to the zoo yesterday. (A specific location usually only has one zoo). "Are you going to the foreshore for dinner tonight?" (The foreshore would be a public place, maybe a tourist precinct, that everyone knows about.) We visited India and were able to see the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort in our first week there. The same goes for museums. But for parks we generally don't use 'the'. Here in our city there is Gandhi Park. But we don't say, "I went to the Gandhi Park." Instead, "I went to Gandhi Park." There are exceptions to this, which I can think of from my hometown, but this is generally how it works with parks. But back to tourist locations... they sometimes have a local name, in which case, as with all names, we don't use "the". For example: "We went to Robber's Cave last year, let's go somewhere else instead."

      "could" makes the sentence about potential. You had or have the potential ability to go. It is uncertain or a potential that is in the past.
