    Buy a Harley, dude. These bikes are not made for Texas. I live close to the alps, we have twisty roads, and that's what this bike is made for. I love it, I can not imagine a better bike for a mountain pass.

    Are yearly valve checks new? Or is it listed in the manual? I've never heard of that... I have an older two valve, did the first valve check by myself and used MBP collets. 18k mile valve check interval now. Modern belts have longer intervals as well.

    Well mate, it s obvious this bike isn t for you. Personally, I absolutely love everything about this bike, including it s quirkiness, which gives it it s individual personality. You re entitled to your opinion, but you have to understand tha this beautiful machine is made for the european climate, and made to handle, and that means twisty roads. Cheers and enjoy whatever next bike you choose.

    Awesome videos, both the loves and hates. Please make no apologies about your kids’ impact on your decision to buy the Scrambler. I think that’s awesome. I also like the thought of pairing up an American slip on to an Italian bike. It reminds me of the Detomaso Panteras with the Italian design and American muscle under the hood.

    I live on an island in Thailand with potholes, good roads, bad roads, dirt roads, off road, puddles, roads 2 feety deep in water, and people driving the wrong way wrongh side of road every 40 meters, and the ducati scrambler is a perfect bike for Thailand (comes with knobblies here) - for American Yankees commuting with your stupid roads, yeah any bike is a pile of crap. As to the pay pay pa.. yeah Ducati is like a yacht. You dont just need the money for the yacht, you need three times more for the maintenance and marina rental. Iy was ccheaper for me to buy a new cafe racer like this to replace parts on my nightshift, than for Ducati to fix it. Ducati wanted 10,000 dollars to fix my 12,000 dollar nightshift replacing the tank which could have been repaired easy, the right indicator, two mirrors, and one front fork, so i bought a cafe racer with 2000 miles on it as a cheaper alternative to paying ducaTI., As to valvwe check, plenty of laid-off duycati engineers in Thailand who stole the electronic reader and setting device, and mechanics, who are angry with Ducati the italian mobsters who overcharge for after sales service.. Every ducati owner should write to Bologna and complain about their ripoff services and overpriced spare parts. But i thnk with all the starving kids in somalia, oyu sholdn't complain so much about your luxury dreambike that many people will never be able to afford in their lives, and be thankful and stop complaining no? I mean, You have a Ducati man, as do I (i have 2) and the only reason we have one, and can eat big mac, is because some kid in Africa gets nothing, as we eat his share, which uncle sam took from him 400 years ago

    OK, I've heard enough. This was painful to listen to on many levels. You could have listed your dislikes in 5 minutes instead of a loooooooooong drawn out video. Sell the bike. It's not for you. Get yourself a nice comfy 'Hardly Dangerous' cruiser, instead. I have the exact same model, and watched this in disbelief. It's not a bike made exclusively for the flat long American roads of Texas, or even America. It's the Cafe Racer version, smaller 17 inch front wheel and clip ons bring the rider's weight forward and aid the overall handling of the bike for where its designed for twisty mountain European passes or twisty country lanes in my own country, England. Ditto the size of the bike, being small (ish) makes the bike a) easy to manhandle around the garage and b) accelerate very well. This is commonly called having a good power to weight ratio. I'm 5'-10" and my legs are tucked up some, I agree......but its a cafe racer not a cruiser, but still no where near as cramped as a 600 or 1000 sportsbike, and the slight forward lean the clip ons necessitate is eased once you're doing anything over 50 MPH with the wind blast. As for the engine heat, there are plenty of similar sized air cooled V twins do exactly the same....but guess what?.....here in the bloody cold of the UK, it's actually an asset. Fuel consumption and range of 150 miles is good, not bad, from that small tank. The spoke wheels not only look stunning they can take a nasty pothole or bash that would put a dint in the rim of more rigid cast wheels. I've done 4500 miles on mine on some very rough country roads aswell as dual carriageways and not had a single puncture. I've got a 20 year old BMW F650 with spoke wheels and tubes.....I not had a puncture on that, either. Service costs? I have a friend with a Kawasaki, and his services are fairly close to mine, price wise. Also, the demo valve Service is not annual, its 7500 miles. There IS an annual service regardless of miles covered, which is annoying, I grant you, but the big desmo is at 7500. My run in Service and my first annual service both cost £180 (about $245) which is about par for the course, here in the UK for most premium bikes. However, you're bleating about Service charges yet you've managed to put down the dollar's to buy a new Ducati?? The finish and attention to detail is better than my BMW, and way better than a KTM or Suzuki or even a Moto Guzzi. It handles marvelously on roads its meant to be ridden on, has a class leading lean sensitive ABS that breeds confidence in the twistys. It looks gorgeous with that blue frame and ice matte scheme and gets as much admiration from pedestrians as a Panagale. Clearly, however, as I state earlier, its just not the bike for you.

      Reminds me of a Landrover defender video where they bag everything and then say they wouldn't change a thing. Ducati are definitely everything you say but they still bring a nice smile to your dial. Picking my mint 2nd hand one up tomorrow. Its been re chipped and mapped and Bluetooth mapping, single slip on ( that stock muffler sounds lame) and a beautiful tail tuck to get rid of the ugly plate swingarm. Its got more than enough power imho as where they excel is in tight corners. On my 650 Pantah I would do double the advisory speed through tight corners and not break the law.

      Of course the tire itself is tubeless, as it can operate without a tube if the rim allows for it. As long as the spokes are mounted through the rim wheel, tubes are required to prevent air leaving the tire through the rim. There are spoked wheels where the spokes mount on the surface of the rim, e.g. those of the BMW r9t.

    I bought one of these bikes last year, and although at 6'-0" I'm realistically too big for it, I am in love with it, especially on twisty country lanes here in the UK. I am still undecided on whether I need a aftermarket exhaust or not. I think it sounds pretty good even on the standard pipes, especially rolling off the throttle while slowing down coming up to junctions. That V&H does sound great, though.

    • @desmodysseus1974
      @desmodysseus1974 3 роки тому

      Haha. Yeah at 5’ 10” I sometimes feel a bit cramped. It’s a short wheelbase so we sacrifice a bit of comfort for better handling in the twisties. I agree the stock exhaust is just fine, but for my own ears and vanity it was either V&H or SC Project.
