      I am clearly not the author of this video and recipe, but I have melted beeswax before and believe she didn't use water. Normally it is not necessary as long as you put your stove on low heat. I believe she put in the oil first and then proceeded to melt the beeswax into the oil, followed by the shea / coconut butter

      I didn’t use any water. What was already in the pan (I should have explained) was a lotion bar from previous batch that didn’t form properly. Usually I place the eye on simmer and slowly melt the bar. You can use a water bath if preferred.

    I've had a Thrive membership since 2018. They were disappointing during the pandemic, when a flood of new subscribers overwhelmed them, and service to existing members suffered--extremely delayed shipments, badly packed boxes, etc. all while Thrive mounted a big advertising campaign to attract new customers at the expense of the people who built their business. I am still a member but seriously considering not renewing--a sudden shipping mistake ("address unknown"? Really? After 6 years of using the same account?) and the bonus gifts disappear within minutes of notification. It's not the same company I signed up with back in 2018.

    00 flour is made from soft white wheat. There is some research that suggests soft white wheat is easier to digest than hard red wheat. I use 00 flour for all my baking. However, I am now going to buy a mill and start making my own flour. I will try hard, soft, red, and white wheat to experiment for myself. Great info! Thank you!

    The oil for this bread, is it extra virgin bitter olive oil which is great on savory foods, or is it a light olive oil? This bread is slightly sweet because of the honey, so I’m really curious what is the more appropriate oil for it: extra virgin or light. Thank you. What’s the texture difference you notice between butter and oil in the bread?

    • @KimberlyMcIntyre
      @KimberlyMcIntyre 8 днів тому

      I am using extra virgin that would be considered medium robust. It has a fairly high polyphenol count. Butter made my bread a bit more dense.

    • @greentree_
      @greentree_ 8 днів тому

      @@KimberlyMcIntyre I started using extra virgin olive oil (was doing coconut oil) and I don’t taste it in the baked bread, even though the evoo was really strong tasting. It’s incredible how the taste disappears. I use 2 Tbsp for 3 cups wheat berries (580ish g). This is another thing I noticed with these fresh milled recipes, that people use too much oil, I wonder why, what is the result with so much oil? I see being used 0.25 and even 0.33 cup oil! The wheat berries already have their natural oils, they weren’t stripped, that contribute to great texture so only 2 Tbsp is enough. 2 Tbsp gives me a really soft and moist loaf, no need to increase the calories, I don’t imagine the bread would get any better than this by adding more oil. Would you try my recipe? In bread machine: 450 ml water, 3 cups wheat berries (580ish g) + 1 Tbsp gluten, 4 Tbsp honey, 2 Tbsp evoo, 1.5 to 1.75 tsp salt, 2 tsp yeast (more if in lower altitude - I’m in WY so I don’t need much). If you try, let me know how it worked for you.

    • @KimberlyMcIntyre
      @KimberlyMcIntyre 8 днів тому

      @@greentree_ Yes, I was surprised in the beginning as well. An expert explained that through the cooking process, the heat burns off a bit of that strong flavor. At that point I bought a more robust oil with amazing results. 😊

      @@greentree_ Your recipe seems very similar to the one I use, except mine makes 2 loaves. I am using a total of 4 to 4 1/2 cups berries = around 51/2 - 6 cups flour. I use 1/3 cup oil. I love olive oil because when you use high grade oil, it is packed with polyphenols. Since I bake my bread at 350 and the polyphenol count is so high, it retains most of the nutrients, making it a welcomed addition. I also don’t add gluten because I am gluten sensitive when it is added to things.

      From Sakina: When it comes to broken capillaries, it's essential to proceed with caution. Facial cupping can aggravate broken capillaries if not done carefully. I recommend avoiding direct cupping over areas with broken capillaries to prevent further irritation. Instead,focus on areas of the face where the skin is intact and avoid applying excessive suction or pressure. Prickly pear seed oil however is great for them!

    Air frying for 8 hours is long! I like the Rocky esque music. Thanks for the recipe

      Long time. That way it preserves the nutrients. 😊 I hope to have a dehydrator one day.
