I don't think anyone has ever wanted to work. The reason we work is so that we can afford things without being a burden to others around us. That's really it.

I saw a video explaining why every generation hates the next one. I'm Gen z and I'm currently the one being called lazy. That's what millennials were once called a decade ago. Actually that's what happened to every generation back when they were young. "They don't want to work anymore" phrase is what people have been using in history. There is absolutely no mystery here I know a lot of people in my generation and beyond would call millennials and gen Z and whoever else lazy because they don't want to work but here's the truth. You guys in those generations you're not lazy it is just the incentive to actually work has been completely removed at this point? Seriously, change my mind here.

I think what's frustrating is to see the majority of Gen Z people speaking out always say they want to be a content creator, or a UA-camr, or Tik Tok Influencer and it's always under the excuse of "I want to do what I want" all the while hoping they get rich from barely doing anything. I'm not saying all Gen Z, but a massive ton that complain have this as their main topic. These people's whole goal is making money off of nothing, but the world doesn't work like that. You. Have. To. Work. It's the sense of entitlement that gets me where "some" Gen Z believe they are too good to be working at all. I saw one young lady on Tik Tok complain that she didn't have enough money to get another manicure, but said she wasn't going to look for a job because she's "too pretty to work," while taking a sip off her Starbucks latte. You cannot have the rich life if you don't work for it. I'm looking to make it rich, but I'm putting in all of my days working to do it. I have 2 jobs and 2 side hustles with sizable gains. I'll make my fortune through work, not just giving up.

What Gen Z needs to realize is that it's not that the older Generations disagree with you basic assessment (while missing a few major bits of information), we all said much of the same thing at your age. You think the older generations had it any easier at our start? if you think we don't know it's a rat race, you haven't been paying attention and took away the wrong lessons. You think there was ever a certain time? You think your the only generation that was constantly fear mongered too or you think political instability is new? Ha. you're not even the first generation that had internet growing up. It's not more unfair than ever before, it actually hasn't changed much, same sh*t different generation. You're on the verge of realizing why things don't make since, why it is the way it is, and why every generations proclamation of "We are the generation of change, we will be the ones to fix the problem" has failed. When you realize this and stop giving an F, ironically it gets easier for most of you and you start moving forward and you don't brag about it.

I’m leaving Canada. I’m done paying 46% in income taxes and then taxed on every purchase I make with the other half of the money I earned that the government didn’t take. The corporate welfare. I was looking into becoming a Uber driver and calculated all the costs involved id be able to make rent for a little bit but if anything went wrong with my car I’d be homeless without a working vehicle.

You hit the nail right on the fucking head. I’m an hvac tech in nyc making 75k a year. I pay 27 k a year in taxes. Almost half my fucking year. All I have for bills is rent, phone, gym, food, and Amazon and I still struggle. At 75K. It’s infuriating. It’s a scam. It’s a game and we have realized. No enjoyment money, no vacation money, no hangout with friends money, it’s insane. Dating for men is terrible now, the quality of women in the west is shot, people make the stupidest fucking people famous for doing the stupidest shit. It’s like our society is in such huge decline. I’m only working until I’m 30 and then I’m going out on my own or I’m figuring something out. This is all a bs game.

I worked in warehouses for 15 years. It’s taken its toll on me. Didn’t really get me anywhere either. I’m door dashing now and living off of and accommodating my cost of living on a delivery drivers salary. Much better, set my own schedule. Work when I want. Not have to deal with people. I work to support myself, not impress other people, especially overbearing relatives.

At 3:45 , that is very true. Unfortunately the media has been doing that since at least the late 1950's that I am aware of. Probably longer. I grew up in the 80's and all we heard about was possible WW3, HIV, the religious gloom and doom predictions, Regardless of specific scares, it does make people think, "Why even bother trying to accomplish anything great?" With political turmoil, I will say that in my own lifetime (almost 50 years), I have never seen it this bad. It used to be about taxes or foreign policy, now it is stuff that most people are not even affected by. For the degeneracy ones making a fortune, they do exist but the vast majority are not even making a living wage. Reason is, OF models and social media personalities are a dime a dozen. We just hear about the very few who made it, not the millions who never did nor will.

So if you can hardly live on a paycheck how are you going to live without one? Seriously?

Gen X here. It isn't much better for us X'ers or the millenials. Old people, mostly boomers, wonder why Gen Z doesn't want to work. It is because there just isn't any real reward. I can understand the Gen Z frustration because even if you DO take that path of working, there is constant worry about AI or robots taking your job. Of course low wage stressful jobs - the thought of AI taking over might not be so bad.

You need money to make money these days. No experience no job? So how do you get experience when everywhere requires experience. Even when you do get a qualification you need to hold that said qualification for a length of time to even be considered by an employer then theres another barrier of beating all the other applications.
