14 ft. Jon Boat Modification |COMPLETED|
Переглядів 196 тис.8 років тому
This is my 14 ft tracker jon boat modification. It's a tracker 1436, that I bought new at Bass Pro Shops. Obviously, looking back now, I could of done a lot differently, but it was my first attempt just based off ideas I saw. I can say a lot of sweat and blood went into this project. It was my first time attempting something like this so I was pretty pleased with how everything turned out! Stil...

Our trip to Punta Cana-January 2016. We had a blast and got a few extra days due to Winter storm Jonas. The amazing blue water was from a Caribbean Island called, Isle of Saona. Absolutely gorgeous there.

Hilltop pond: Iron Antler Outdoors
Переглядів 4459 років тому
We decided to take a trip up to the pond we dubbed "Hilltop" because of its location. Its a pond off the beaten path, where the past few times we came in we had to walk the bank. Today we finally got a boat in the pond and it rewarded us. Take a look at our trip out.

    I used a foam mat from Amazon typically used for horse stalls and gym floors no wood on the floors

    Did you end up tapping the deck in, measuring the supports that need to go under, then removing it to add them on? Just curious how you did that, and how you got the deck traced out haha. Thanks for any advice, I’m building one now.

    Wonderful start! Don't forget the switches and your bow and stern light, their easy. Don't cost much either. Some of the neon lights on the front deck and two or three lights for your hatches. You never know you might want to do a little night fishing or run of time fishing late and need a little light to get back to the dock... Tight lines. .

    Wow!! Never would have thought of using hinges for framing you’ll have to give updates, I used framing hangers that are galvanized! Good luck!!!!

    Good build. You need to put a wood floor over that foam. If you get a hole in the boat the wood over the foam will keep you afloat a lot longer. How you got it now the foam is useless. Maybe for sound its ok but the foam is not taped or tied down. All in all great build, looks awesome!

    The biggest thing that got me and I think you did a great job, is that you need to leave about a 1\4 in on your doors so you can wrap the carpet arond and make it look better. Nothing I hate worase than looking at raw playwood!!!!

    What did you do with front deck not sitting flush on front seat?? Because of the seat sitting up higher

    The whole design is top notch except the hinges used for framing....that's pretty janky and would be afraid of them failing over time.

    I actually like the idea of putting the foam in the very bottom of the boat I wouldn't be opposed to using as much cushion as possible to help it become soundproof

      For the price of the hinges he could've gotten actual stud braces which would be a lot sturdier/safer

    Great build, great video, thanks for sharing. Ya know, now the bass will come to be caught by you. Otherwise they send bluegills, crappie, goggleeye, to your boat, but since its converted, get that rod up and shaking, get some Biggons and fish fry coming on!

    Looks good man. You did a decent job. I would say that aluminum studding would have lightened the load substantially if you tackle something like this again in the future.

    • @anthonymontes9425
      @anthonymontes9425 5 років тому

      For sure. I tell everyone looking to do this, to use aluminum if they can. It was my first time trying this and I was just eager to attempt something like this from other videos I saw and went with it lol.

    What's the purpose of the foam?

    • @anthonymontes9425
      @anthonymontes9425 5 років тому

      under the casting deck- I put it down just because its lightweight and would give me a flat floorboard to just store stuff on top of. No real purpose lol

  • @Munky332
    @Munky332 5 років тому

    How's the stability/fishability with 2 people? I'm considering either a 1236 or 1436, but a part of me also wants to wait for a 1442/1448 Modified V. Only be fishing with 2 on it maybe 5-10% of the time

    • @anthonymontes9425
      @anthonymontes9425 5 років тому

      I haven't had any issues yet. Yea, If I held out longer before buying one or wanted to spend more, I would of went larger but decided on the 1436 bc its mostly just me. I'm 180lbs and I've had another 180-190 lb person and but obviously, as long as you don't stand next to each other at the same end you should be fine. I just always try to be mindful of the total weight loaded in the boat. My wife is usually with me tho (she's 110 lbs) and its never a problem. Granted, its not a 20 ft Nitro lol, so just be mindful of space and the rockiness.
