Did slide towards the side of the road, not the opposite direction, no ongoung traffic,… parts for thr bike ordered, she will be beautiful again in no time! Hi Julio, that’s exciting! Safe travels and enjoy your trip! During my trip, I felt safe and welcome throughought most parts of Turkey. I parked both a hotels, private accomodations (airbnb), both in a closed parking area, and directly on the street in front of a city hotel (in places such as Samsun or Zonguldak). It may sound strange to compare this: when I lived in London, I was always scred of my bike to be stolen or damaged - it felt much safer in Turkey, even in highly populated places such as Instanbul. Plus, wherever I went, I was invited for tea, chat and even offered to stay a night or few with the friendly locals. I should probably make a video about all this too - but I fell in love with the hospitality of the people. Made a few good friends in Turkey while travelling there! I can't tell you how much I was craving for a good burger that day! The kebab was lovely though too! 😃 We'll discuss plans for July later on then! That bridge blew me away too, did not know it was there at all + a bonus had the chance to see it all in action and see the train.

Thank you both for your kind words! When I drafted the Place17 Adventures project (not necesarilly the channel included), the idea there is encourage people to go on motorcycle adventures: guide them, help them become more confident riders, take them on adventures (ranging from day-trips to a few weeks long expeditions), rent bikes, gear, organize trips, 1-1 coaching. This is already happening - and - I don't advertise this much, as the demand is greater than the time I can dedicate to it, as in the family we got a few other businesses to run & manage + take care of our family! The channel idea came later, but the format, focus, niche a bit unclear: The thinking went like: I go on expeditions, maybe it would be great idea to share it with the world. My ultimate vision would be to produce good entertainment value documentaries - and that of course is light-years away still. So until then, the channel focus could be on: - vlogs - infotainment - tips & tricks preparing for an adventure - build community (that could later have interest of what the Place17 Adventure as a main company behind this all does) I don't necessarily want to make the channel itself a money making machine - I don't want to do product reviews, dealing with sponsors, selling advertisement / product placement. I'd love the channel to get monetised, but from others, more experienced UA-camrs, I know that unless this goes massive, is not a sustainable income stream in our motorcycling niche. That said though, I want to grow this channel to a decent size of a community and if via the channel it generates any income, I will use that income to reinvest into the Place17 Adventures business / activities. With all that I am aware I let the channel down a bit, that is where I disappointed myself a little bit. But, crying over the spilled milk does not help. The only fix for this is to make a cracking good content :) So yea, I'm on a mission! 😀

Thank you 😀 Funny you mention tour guides - I used to do mountain hikes tours as a guide in my (looong ago) past. One of the visions for my channel going forward is to do guided tours, organize expeditions - will start with Turkey as a pilot project. But of course, I first want to fix the basics here: the content creation process, showing up regularly on here, improve presentce, editing, storytelling ... yeah, lots to do! We'll talk about it later on in May ☺

Hi @michaeljose hope you enjoyed your ride despite the wind! This was about mid-October, back then almost summer temperatures 26-29 C, almost no wind whatsoever! But I can imagine when it is windy there from the sea, it could be hard on any bike!

Agree on Calimoto in Turkey, I guess it still needs a room for improvement there. 100% of the time in Turkey, I was on Google Maps. My planning is a combination of: a] I roughly know the direction I want to arrive at in the evening/afternoon b] I look for the smallest roads, avoiding motorways where possible (unless running out of time that day and need to ride the final stretch to the destination) c] quite often I would see a road goiing up the mountain and just give it a go. I know this kind of planning is not for everyone. I basically plan from one day to another. Before going for the trip, I roughly know how many kilometers and how many days I can go for. Then working out the details on the trip. That said, I did not have nasty offroad surprises, except for one day, though that was somehow me asking for it :)

Apologies for getting back to you only now - I was not well for the past few weeks - catching up on youtube. For both Bulgaria and Turkey, I always looked for accomodation using either Agoda, Airbnb or Booking.com (this one is restricted in Turkey, the prevous two are better options). Towards the end of my trip, I felt I already had a good feel for Turkey, and quite often arrived in a town/city and checked in to the local hotel. Definitely going to rework the way I approach videos and its structure for upcomming trips in 2024. Stay tuned! :)

@@oldbootsontour we will meet up sooner or later, the world is small! 😀 For the plans - I am terribly late with videos on my UA-cam channel, I will be off for another Turkey adventrue in the second half of October. I am testing everything now in hope to be able to edit & post videos as I go (evenings from whichever accomodation I will get along the way!)
