Finally 🏆 370W NP for 25min - Commenting at 4,5 W/Kg 😅 last race in Cat 2
Finally had really good legs today, was ist the trvel, the run in the morning or the 3 glasses of Red Wine I had at the airport before the race. I do not know, but the legs were good today, keeping the pace high, spending almost all race at the front because the legs felt good and then kicking off a good sprint with better timing almost hitting 1000 Watts for 20 seconds.
The downside is that my @Zwift racing score has now increased to 697 meaning i am now Cat 1 for almsot all races and have to battle the big guys. Survival mode is on from now on, but it is going to be fun.

I always get suspicious when i see riders pushing big watts especially in a Cat 2 race (max race score 690). I usually give the benefit of the doubt but when I saw that the rider in question was neither to be found on Zwiftpower nor in the final results of the race (DNFed) i have some doubts about the validity of his power. With the new route addition to Zwift Wattopia named Elevation Evaluation you can now do a n in ride FTP test on a route outside the specific FTP tests. Day one of Rad Race One Twenty in 2024 The Hillclimb, 16 min full gaz on a steep 4km climb with ramps of 16-18%, great support from our team half way with bengalos. To decide where the whole team will start on Sunday in the RadRace 120 on Sundays a team time trial up a steep hill is held on Saturdays. The best 3 times of the team are added together and will then give the team a startng place in the grid on Sunday for the main event. To know what to expect I did a course recce close to race pace on the climb, two days before the race.

Here is the raw cut of the first 15 minutes of Gran Fondo Vosges, my first ever Gran Fondon and a tough one. 3500m elevation in 14 punchy climbs in moist conditions this year in 2024. Die Skoda Velotour Classic Strecke über 103km im Rahmen des Radrennens Eschborn Frankfurt. Ein highlight jedes Jahr. @volkervoit i know its lower, but you should be racing in 690-1000 with your power. Its still sandbagging.

But no worries if I qualify for Cat 1 I will race there, I am trying but not even there yet. just because you can keep a steady high power (time trialist) doesn’t mean you have any chance to be good in the first or second category races in Zwift.
As a dane i can only agree with everything you said about Copenhagen ! awful place I’m a A rider myself and you easily have the power for the highest category. However you are wasting an incredibly amount of watts. 1 year ago when zwift changed to zwift dynamics 4.1.1 Zwiftinsider made this video illustrating how you could be wasting watts in a group ua-cam.com/video/T49sKC0aOc8/v-deo.html. In your race you are doing 4.0 Wkg in the group while the rest of the group is only doing around 3.2. At 40 kph you should be able to follow a group at 3 to 3.2 w/kg and at 42 kph somewhere from 3.2 to 3.5 is needed. One thing I like to do, is look at the scoreboard on the right side of the screen to see what w/kg other people in the group are doing to gauge what is needed to stay in the group. Look at the result, even with 1st and 2nd attacking with 10 minutes to go you still did only do 0,1 w/kg less than 1st place avg and 0,3 w/kg more (!) than 2nd place. You had the highest 1 min and 2nd highest 5 min and 10 second power in the race. You were by far the strongest guy in this race. As someone already mentioned, you kicked way too late. In zwift you should kick somewhere around 350 meters to go. The momentum will carry you the last meters even if your power start to drop of. This is even more important after a summer update where zwift slightly increased the rider-avatar collision area which has made it slightly harder to overtake people (also made wasting watts in a group even more profound than in the video I linked). Starke Leistung :) Was würdest du einem Anfänger wie mir empfehlen? Nur Zone 2 oder gibt's sonst noch wichtige Trainingseinheiten, die dir z.b. geholfen haben? Weiter so!
For a beginner the best you can do is a lot of zone 4 as beginners can benefit more from that than only doing zone 2 Pro cyclist only do zone 2 to increase their volume 👍😃
If you do that you’ll lack the base, I’d say the exact opposite, lot of upper zone 2 will boost your endurance and FTP. Then add some high intensity Z4 and 5 to endure the pain of surges
Tiny races are popular with cheaters. Brett Boniface is a know cheater.

Great racing. The Tiny Races are definitely a good workout and challenging. I rode in the early morning session. 3 of the 4 races I did above my FTP and the last one just under.
How about virtual shifting when climbing? Does it help you get correct gear easier? With physical shifting, I feel it is hard to keep cadence > 80 when I shifter to only 1 bigger gear. Using a kickr core like you, my chairing is 52-36, cassette 11s 11-32
I don’t really do much climbing on Zwift, rather go to real mountains 🫣 but if you struggle finding the right gear I would just lower the trainer difficulty, I never have it above 50%

Not that I am even close on your level, but in my experience, unless you want to win actually doing a longer sprint should make you lose less placings... so instead of doing a big snap, trying 600m drag sprint taking the maximum draft of the others.

Regardless of those who called it boring, I rather ride there. I rather favour flat out runs to going up hills. All you need is public holiday traffic like my bike path in Hong Kong, consisting of people on crappy rental bikes and kids illegally riding on pannier racks, you could therefore have your own IRL videogame
It never ceases to amaze me how we are all so different doing the same sport. I'm 58 in a couple of weeks,weigh 57 kg and my best on the Grade is 11.11 at 266 FTP. And yet I stand the whole way. We are all so different, if I sat, I'd be lucky to manage 220w and yep, I can sprint and climb.

How do they adjust for different Frame Sizes and geometry in these Tests? Every Size 56 has a different size and geometry. So the stack will be different on every bike, adjusting stem for the same size will also be different. Do they use the same handlebar widths on every bike?
