Thanks for putting this together; super helpful.
I have the 4.3 kit on my Sprinter and have been really happy with the performance. I was considering adding the Rally Struts but haven't been able to find out what the real benefit is versus the 4.3 kit with the factory struts. I do a ton of offroad driving, often in places I probably shouldn't take a Sprinter van so performance is critical. I'll have to do a little more research on this. Thanks for posting this. Oh, I sent you a follow request on Instagram.
Sounds like you and I treat our vans the same by pushing the offloading limits. For starters, the rally strut is adjustable, just like your other struts. The that benefit is obvious, as you know. In terms of performance change after I upgraded, I immediately noticed the improved dampening and responsiveness, meaning the vans front end takes bigger hits at any speed and stays grounded and smooth. The stock struts were packing out and the responsiveness basically dies when off road. I would not but they for highway driving. I bought them for off-road. Lastly, they are supposed to be a 100k+ mile strut, so you can do the math there :)
@@crowdtasticThanks for the information. Did you install them yourself?
@@TonyKoji I did not BUT that's only because I had to swap out the brackets of the secondary shocks, as the design changed to make room for the rally struts. Otherwise I would have.
Thank you
This was the concern I had with the Scopema just by looking at them. Thanks for posting this vid a saving me some time and money!
glad it helped.
Hi Aaron! We installed an AdWag interior kit in our Sprinter last year and now want to add a Lagun table in a similar location as yours behind the driver seat. I'm curious how you mounted it. Did you add a backing plate or wood board on the backside of the wall panel? Any additional reinforcement along the bottom of the wall panel or are the self-tapping screws enough? I also see you offset the metal mounting bracket off the wall...what's the reason for that? Thanks for all your content!!
Yes, I added a custom cut marine grade plywood plate to mount to. I’ll shoot you a photo.
Thanks for the reviews. Did you install lockers?
I have not and dont plan to. I have not found the need.
Good to know the falcon shocks are still preforming great at 40,000 miles. I am considering putting them on my revel just the shocks not the struts . Can you tell me about what percent improvement the ride is on road and off road ? Thanks .
I’d say the adjustable secondary shocks are near a 100% improvement. The ability to adjust to ride type based on weight of vehicle and terrain has been a game changer. Hence why I invested further in the rally strut.
Thanks!
How much did those 265 tires and rims affect your MPG?
Hard to say because I swapped out from stock after 100 miles. I will say that I maintain a 15-16mpg average with my current set-up - see recent video with suspension.
How much space between the bed and the bench seat? Why did you choose to move it backwards from stock position? I would like to get the Smart Floor option as well, seems to free up a lot of space.
From the headrest of the bench seat to the end of bed frame, about 4in. I did not move back from stock because it was a cargo van and there was no stock. That said, it’s pushed back from what would be stock because I wanted room to swivel front seats and have multiple people sit at table without being cramped. Also, it’s an area needed for changing, putting ski boots on etc.
❤
These YT algorithms are crazy, I was just thinking about upgrading mine less than an hour ago and I open up YT and this pops up. Spooky. Thanks for the review.
Haha. No kidding man. Spooky.
How are you keeping the Yeti charged? Driving and using the 12v only? Did you do the charge kit? Or do you have solar? If you have solar, how much solar to keep the fridge and everything else working? Thanks!
Bro thanks for posting this. Definitely going with AdWag interior, but I was on the fence about the smart floor. Can’t wait to have my rig done! 🍻
Right on. You will be very pleased.
Great video, thanks for your reviews!
Glad you get some value. Im not a UA-camr but I spent too much damn time planning stuff out I felt obligated to share.
One of the first people I’ve seen with the rally strut. I just got the 4.3 kit on my van and it was a huge difference. I can’t really see for the rally strut could make that big of a difference but thanks for your review.
Exactly. It takes experience with the 4.3 kit to start to feel how bad the stock struts are. Congrats on the new kit.
Thanks for the review. As far as your onboard stereo working, did you figure out a way to keep the stereo working without it shutting off after the 10-15 minutes without having the van run? Thanks
No. I have yet to meet someone who has cracked that code. Once I got used to it I began to appreciate how it protects the battery... especially as the battery ages. I just replaced my stock starter battery for the first time.
i tried to figure that out. With an amp and the speakers it was going to use too much house battery. We us a JBL and works great. Off topic. I see you live in the snow. I have not had my van in the snow yet. Have you had to use chains on you van or do the bigger all terrain tires get it done? I have KOA tires. Thanks for the info @@crowdtastic
Which overhead headliner shelf did you install?
RB Components. I like it because it has no branding or other features some people seem to want but I don't. Clean low profile.
Just stumbled upon your channel, love the content & straightforward no bs. I'm considering the Adventure Wagon, self installation & nervous about that "self install" part. One question, where did you purchase the insulated side window covers behind the driver's seat? You've built yourself an awesome rig & should be proud, thanks again for sharing the journey!
Thx man. All window covers are from RB components. They were not too expensive, good magnetic application, and really well insulated for how well they pack down. As for the adage kit install, I hear ya. I was nervous too because it's an expensive thing to screw up. After doing it one, id will do it again... and am very convinced its the strongest kit out there in terms of frame structure. I wish I had a garage to do it in though.
Thanks Aaron for the update on your AdWag system. We always love to hear how the kit holds up long term, glad you're happy with it!
thx for the excellent service during and years after install.
Thanks for sharing! In early in my build and was really considering the smart floor for similar reasons. I use this as my truck but still haul older teens around. What have you seen the smart floor to run. Thanks in advance!
Not sure what you mean. Are to asking about pricing? I think it’s $5k which is pretty expensive BUT it lasts the life of the vehicle and is the only think on the market that allows you to make seating adjustments and tie gear down AND most importantly, is safe in a vehicle crash incident.
@@crowdtastic exactly what I mean, how much?I was rushing with my response earlier. Sorry about that. The bench takes up a lot of space, but still have a kid that will ride along. The other two are now drivers, but tend to tag along… sometimes. I have a 2021 Crew, but would like to address/decide before I do anything else. Great videos!
New to your channel. Love it. I’m way down a rabbit hole of sprinter vans and conversions. Your setup is about as close to what I want to do. I want an insulated van (Alaska), heater, bed, power, and modular space for skis/bikes/etc. I don’t want any built in stuff like kitchenettes, counters, toilets, seats…..just space. I’ve been eying the adventure wagon kits and appreciate your insight. Regarding your regret for the floor tracks, is that simply because your passenger seats are fixed? Or do you see a need for gear to be secured to the floor as well? Since I don’t need passenger seats, I was thinking of foregoing the floor track. Any thoughts on the flares for the transverse bed? It seems simpler to not cut out the walls of the van, but you do gain space by orienting the bed sideways. Other than the $$$ for the mod, can you think of a reason to avoid it? Thanks for putting your content out there. I found you through the sprinter forums. Keep adventuring. Best.
Sounds like you and I have a similar want/need out of a van. I’m thoroughly insulated with havelock wool and the adwag panels. Not a fan of cooking or going to the bathroom where I sleep, and want to haul gear etc. Being able to tie down or anchor to the floor is very helpful, and I don’t have that option because I have no track on the floor. I did preserve the stock D-rings and have them mounted into my marine grade plywood floor but they are not is convenient places and I have several covered up with gear boxes. More than anything, I with I could move my passenger bench seat up and down the the floor. The adwag kit adds so much strength to the internal framing of the van. I think most people just start screwing shit in which is risky in terms of long term rust and lack of strength.
Regarding flares, I’m 6ft and don’t want to sleep sideways. More importantly, I think the least amount of cutting the better. Those flares can be ripped out easily. Not great security and just another thing to leak.
Your experience and willingness to share is priceless. Thanks!
Thx Aaron for your useful reviews... def great info. Wondering where you have your kids sleep in the van? Debating doing bunks or not (we have two young kids). Thx!
I only have one (6 years old) so the three of us fit perfectly in the MOAB bed. If I had another or when he’s bigger I’ll add a monk bed.
awesome thanks! @@crowdtastic
Thanks for sharing. I’m more in the info gathering stage but looking for something simple and functional like your. Maybe add a simple self contained sink or a water tank for outdoor shower. Cheers
Thx. I do have a portable shower (no heated) I use off the back in warmer months. Its key for long trips etc.
@@crowdtasticnice! I like the idea of modular items that can be removed or replaced without tearing it out of the build. Has the sprinter been good for you mechanically?
@@NinerFan949 the sprinter has been a beast. Very reliable. I do the oil service and fuel/air filter myself. Had it in the shop for a couple recalls and the full vehicle reports I get say it’s in excellent shape.
Been looking for a cover around my 1500x yeti for the winter months in Idaho. What did you have around your battery?
I built my own cover for my 1500x out of some insulation material, similar to a soft cooler. I used it for a month and threw it away. I found that these batteries are so good and heating up or cooler down fast on their own, a cover prevents that from happening. With the cover, my batter would get just as cold overnight and take 3x as long to heat up. I found they perform best with no cover. I rarely pull the battery out. If it super cold and I dont plan to drive it for a few days, I turn the spar heater on.
Thanks for the response! Where did you find your rear wire covers by the back door?
stock mercedes part. lots of people just toss them. @@user-sk9my3mt5k
Thanks for the video! Do you have solar as well or just power from the alternator? My design is very similar to yours. The biggest power concern is the diesel heater in the winter. However, I don't plan to be on long trips. Mostly weekend stuff. Thanks!
I have a 100w solar that trickle charges the goal zero. On sunny days, it tops off the battery by end of each day. In the winter I use the alternator connection more often. The heater works too well and pulls such little energy, I doubt that will be an issue for you. My fridge on hot summer days is what hits my battery the hardest. I have a dometic 35... but hot summer days also have lots of sun so it's not an issue.
Love all your videos I’ve watched every single one of them now. I was wondering is that a custom ladder or is there somewhere I could purchase it?
Prime Designs no-drill ladder. It's held up great. I put paint protection film on van before installing the ladder.
Did you install the rear bench seats yourself? If so, before the flooring or after? Thank you.
yes. before. they are bolted through the frame.
With the goal zero are you hooking up just the anderson powerpole (HPP) output to the fuse box and then feeding the AdWag harness from that? I have the yeti 3000x and as the outputs are regulated I figured you can only use the single HPP output (max 30A). My builder was telling me how it wont work but after adding up the load from everything it comes in below the 30A rating of that single output.
I used the HPP to power the fuse box which powers everything (auxiallry) hardwired in the van. I then used the other outputs on the GZ to power fridge, laptop etc.
How do you used your stereo sound system when you are camping? My van cannot keep the head unit on. Thanks
Hi, is this the LWB van?
Its a 144
Great vid! In the process of building mine. I have three kids and my wife. How many travel with you and what has been your experience with the Van and amount of passengers.
I too have a 144 crew. Basically same setup
Hi. As far as you music system goes. Does the amp, head unit, speakers sub all run off the Goal Zero? I was gonna go bigger with the power supply to Handel that deal without having to use the van starting battery. Was curious how you did it. Thanks for the help. Chris
Great question. I originally powered by the GZ but switched back to van battery. The factory head unit will always shut off system regardless. Only way to bypass is to install an auxiliary or secondary stereo which goes against my minimalistic build philosophy. The GZ will power amp sub and all 6 speakers without issue, if you try that.
Ok. So when you wired it up the head unit front speakers stayed with the stock hook up. The amp sub and rear speakers are on aux power? I run my music all day. Just wondering if I should get another battery or if I can run that equipment from the GZ or what ever. Might have to be trial and error with some switches. Thanks
@@chrismharthart if you run music all day while parked, you should to a 100% auxiliary system to eliminate the auto shutoff and drain on van battery. The GZ 1500X will power a big system all day, easy. I have a nice system for high quality sounds when driving and limited time when parked. Otherwise, I pull out the JBL Bluetooth speaker.
How is that bed system holding up after it has been broken in? Truth please
Nothing to break in. It’s a solid design and is holding up as if it’s brand new. I see other beds on the market bending and flexing, loosening up and creaking. This bed is sold. Best on the market.
Great review. Is that the Vancompass stage 4.3?
Nope. Just the adjustable shocks. No lift on mine.
Thanks for the vid. Been looking at this kit for a while. I love the fact that you identified some things that probably happened to everybody that installs the kit. it’s not perfect and we’re not professional installers. The question I have is are you happy with the electrical system that you’ve installed. I’m on the fence of installing lithium batteries in my van or just going with an Eco flow 2000 with a fuse panel to run all of the electrical items in the van. What are your thoughts? Another question I have is does that bed go up high enough that you could fit a dirtbike motorcycle underneath it and still sleep on top? Thanks again
I could not be happier with the electrical system. It’s low profile, maintainable, safe, and reliable. As for the bed, yes, you can easily raise to put a dirt bike below.
Great video. You got everything what you need to have electricity. The ability to charge with the car alternator is best option to have always enough juice off grid.

Hi Aaron - I really appreciate your videos. I'm installing an adwag kit + flatline stuff + goal zero 3000 as well. Which window covers did you go with?
RB Components. They are excellent.
Aaron, sweet setup! I have an AdWag kit on order and Havelock wool in the garage waiting for install. A friend says the wool has a horrible smell and that it rears its head every time you breathe heavily in the van and the condensation spikes (I wear wool all the time, so maybe not a sensitivity I have?). Any insight on this front? I love the idea of using our Havelock wool, but if it gets rank every time we're huddled up in the winter, that would be less than ideal. Also, did you use the hush mat under the wool? Curious if you needed/used that extra sound deadening...
Hey. I have no issues with the Havelock smelling . In fact, my friend owns a premium uplifting business and thats all he recommends, hence why I used it. I used kilmat for sound deadening and used a lot of it. I put a nice audio sound system in the van so I wanted to reduce rattle along with any road noise.
Hey Aaron. Thanks for the info. Wondering which swivels you got and if you recommend them.

Do you ever wish you would have had the headliner done? I.e. is it worth the extra cost? Or does the color fabric you chose match well enough?
I have never regretted it. Matches great and saved me a bunch of time/money. Ive also seen some failed headliner wraps.
Nice video. Where did you mount the fuse block? Or did I miss it?

Hey there folks, anyone have ideas on how to best access the Goal Zero? The app is cumbersome and doesnt always work, I would hate to have to open the bench every time I have to turn on the inverter. Hey, I'm wondering what connections are used to power your heater?
Not sure what you are asking here. My Goal Zero powers my heater. Heather has install instructions that come with it.
@@crowdtastic I am wondering how you electrically connect your heater to your goal zero x. I have tried using a fuse box to the high power anderson port. I can't get sufficient power draw to start the heater.
@@danieltchen6722 My GZ 1500X runs directly to my Blue Sea Systems fuse block. My 12v espar heater pulls its power from that fuse block, along with all my lights, fridge etc. I have no issues. I used freedommango's GZ integration kit to connect everything. It works flawlessly.
This is a great help for us that are building and adventure rig not an RV. Couple of questions, what was your thought on not putting the heater under the passenger seat? Did you start with a cargo van or crew van?
Thx. I wanted the aux heater to kick out in the center and rear of the van for two reasons. 1- there is no heat source in the rear from factory. 2- I wanted to blow hot air in the rear on the floor to keep things dry during winter months as skis are in /out a lot. Additionally, its a much cleaner install and the compartment under passenger seat is valuable storage for other things.
How is you van in summer? No rear AC as far as I can see. Looks like you may be in CO so air is dry but summer can still be hot especially on the western slope. Thoughts?
Im in UT, so the air is dry but annual temp swings from -5f to 105f. The summer is manageable with window shades and one maxair fan. Fridge works perfectly to keep stuff cold and solar charge is very strong in summer months. I use the awing a lot to keep shade on the van. An AC unit would be nice BUT i tend to seek high elevations so its a waste of power for me to add one.
