Playing Loose in Tennis
Playing loose comes primarily from playing a lot of tennis, having big targets, and the oncoming ball or the player you're up against. We can also consider that playing loose has a lot to do with not being afraid to lose or miss.

Tennis Balls in the Middle of the Court

Tennis Balls in the Middle of the Court
Well I’m still waiting
Because men think faster and stronger is better for some reason when relatively the sport is exactly the same.
The shot called out at 1:97 or so looked in. The guy murders the ball on serve and has great groundstrokes.
Like what?
Really interesting - kinda makes the return easier cus he has a really extreme grip with the 1-hander from what I can see. Nice combo
his 1HBH looks very close to an Eastern backhand grip to me- pretty standard. There's a really good shot of it at 2:09, where you can see his index knuckle is right along the top bevel. Very similar to Federer's grip, but his swing path is very different.
For me - I mean this in a polite honest way - but to me you are not a qualified tennis coach based on how you are trying to hit the ball here. You are not solid at all. This kid is just feeding you a simple ball 3:15 and for some reason you play a slice overhead shot very badly that goes miles out - when all you needed to do is adjust your feet and meet the ball in front of you and hit it over the net . Throughout this you can see that your level is very beginner. Which in itself puzzles me as I do not understand how someone who can not play tennis can manage to play with players who are of a good quality. Even if you wanted to improve - you can not - because you have put yourself on a pedestal to the stature of a coach. I can guarantee that kid you are hitting with - they do not see themselves as a coach despite them being far better than you. That's because they know they are not qualified at an expert level to be one.
I can’t even reply to this…other than I show the good and the bad. Not just making myself look good or only posting when I’m in best form or playing easy players. Which is what you see everywhere else.
@@Angelostennis I don't get it. Are you a qualified tennis coach trying to teach others how to play?
Nope…I’m a UA-camr making a comedy out of the so called “qualified coach.”
@@Angelostennis I'm sensing a little sarcasm here perhaps? The best advice you are going to ever get is not the advice you give to others, but the advice others give to you.
why are you hitting lobs? some feed the first ball with, and some without topspin. adapt. stop complaining. its not cool
And if I’m outside I’m going lob the hell out of the ball.
@@Angelostennis never heard of splitsteps? nevermind
I played at that club years before becoming a teaching pro. A lot of people/ players/ clients just don't understand that you are trying to hit a rallie ball. Not a competition ball.
Keep it up! Love your videos
@2:20
Oh did I miss one? Did one not look like a federer snapshot?
@@Angelostennis It's not just the one - it's pretty much every ball. He wasn't comparing you to Federer. You are comparing yourself to him. Now, if you have some actual Federer clips - please feel to post them.

Thoughts on fils forehand?
I don’t believe in forehands and backhands.
This is another banger, thank you
How did David do?
He played well. I think if he could play these consistently he’d get some wins. He lost 6-2, 6-0.
New player?
Older defeats younger??? What a stupid title 48-42??????????????????????????? practically same age 48-22 more interesting
I was using the match as an example to what I was teaching. I'll post one 48 -22 at some point :)
Who is he playing?
Just published him. Nathan Ponwith
Thats funny cause ur story exactly has implementations of high level on the mental side that i commented about the other day. To me a high level player is immune to those mind games. Which isnt the same as blocking it out. Its because he understands the gists of it. The ins and outs. A high level player can tell in his mind to that guy that he simply needs to fck of without even telling it to him. While at the same time his comment is mid level = Ego level. Immature.
Whats the score?
7-6, 7-5
I bet the Chinese kid hooks
I don’t understand women's tennis. For example, Anna Kournikova was more attractive than any of her opponents, yet sometimes her less-attractive opponent was declared the winner of the match. Wtf? How does that work? Surely the most attractive woman should be the winner!
:) Yea I mean if most men were the umpires they would have defaulted all of her opponents and gave Anna anything she wanted.
Wait what? Are serious
First one is Hershey racket club
Look the sky is blue. Ahh post
This shoe and the Vapor Pro from 2 onwards is utter crap. The Vapor Pro was really the 11 in real world in terms of DNA. Looks like the new 12 has gone back to the routes of the Vapor line. That shoe looks good
Thanks for the video. I'm not sure why this video is titled how older players defeat younger (players) though I'm over 70 years old and expected to see at least a 65 year old playing someone in his 30's or younger. Even people in their 40's are still pretty nimble and able to compete with strong players half their age. I think you enjoy playing - but not really at a competitive level. When I was 17 I played the number 1 ranked 65 (H. Hyde out of Texas) and even though I was a strong junior lost the first set. I received a lot of steady angles, slices and junk shots and was exhausted by the time we were even set wise. Some of your tips are good though.

That ain't Opelka dude
Yea I know...the guy in the video played him in that tournament - Charlottesville Challenger.
@@Angelostennis Ah I see
Hope you get in next time.

One thing you do is let go of your ball toss arm too soon - you need to hold that arm up fully and the trophy pose for a bit longer and then coil into the ball and land straight ahead. Your action is too rushed. You need to also take time after you miss your first serve. You are just going too fast into each act. If you look at Sampras or Federer or even McEnroe - they take their time throughout their serves - why? Because it helps them compose themselves and think carefully about what they want to do in their serve. The serve is integral to a player as it is the one shot that a player has a high degree of control. Make the most of it. If you are constantly moving from one point to another especially after losing the previous - you are just getting into a losing cycle. If you give yourself time; you can change the course and tempo in which the match is heading. By doing what you are - you are just letting your opponent win. Try adding at least an extra two ball bounces rather than the quick one. I think switching to the two handed backhand is worth a try as I think you are more compact and solid rather than the one handed backhand where you can mistime the ball badly. Two hands from what I've seen here allows you to at least get it over the net. Keep the videos going - don't know how you are getting these shots from, but they are interesting - also you cover good debatable topics about tennis.
I can understand your frustration playing pushers, but I do feel the approach taken in the video isn't how someone at a higher level would deal with a pusher. You have a great slice and you can move decently. If youre fighting a pusher, they want you to feel awkward and lose confidence. The only way to beat someone like this, is to make them uncomfortable. If youre not waiting to take a ball on the rise, and push into their backhand, come all the way into the net, not just to the service live with a mean slice or a shot into the corner, you will lose to pushers. Pushers give you the time to think which can stress an inexperieced player, you must push through the barrier, move them around instead of getting stuck at the baseline chasing high slow balls. If a ball lands in that red zone, run around it, Push into their weakness with your best shots like the slice or forehands and thats a win in your favour every time AND because youre moving into the court, youre taking more and more time away from them making it harder for them to play their own game!
So how does this affect the 2025 season?
It doesn’t. But you will likely continue to see, generally speaking, Taurus and Gemini’s leading the pack
You are not high level buddy
Is Mannarino High Level?
It's not really about the tanking - it's the idea that these players accept defeat - sometimes even before they step onto the court. That hypothetical example you give of Tomic being down to Hurkacz 4-2 0-40 - more often than not these players accept defeat of the scoreline; the numbers rather than the reality and then make no effort or play a shot without any care. It's about 'not giving up' even if you are up against all the odds. Playing for each point as if it is your last. The difference between them and Federer or Sampras or other great champions. Is that they fight because they believe they can win. The attitude is all wrong here from Tomic, Fognini and Krygios. They go into matches thinking they have lost.
Foot fault
why bro got mad? he cant go anywhere
Best design in years
It’s growing on me ;)
Yes an upset.
Maybe so but Opelka is now 1-0 against him.
This video gets at the heart of the matter. Namely, the omnipresent absurdity in tennis. Most people don't want to give up the delusion that they can "learn" to be winners if only they watch the right you tube videos or get the right racket with the right strings at just the right tension. When one accepts this absurdity then the chances of winning do increase. Really great video. I hope more people watch your stuff. By the way, how far did you go with your tennis? I would like to hear about your tennis journey.
Most of it was unofficial because I spent most of my time coaching. Didn't get real serious til I was in my 20s. With that being said I tried to get into a futures today but didn't get in :)
Sounds like he beat you because he didn’t feed you balls where you like them. He basically just played his game and it worked in you. Looks like he had a little strategy and it was enough. Not trying to be mean but if you improve your fundamentals you’ll do better. Bend your knees on low balls, hit with more topspin on the slower ones he gives you. Try treating them like approach shots. His ball didn’t bounce much because it’s flat so you have to shape it more. Your volleys went straight to him instead of down the line. You were choosing really hard targets. Don’t be afraid to move your Allen up and back and not just laterally. You hit some good shots bro you just needed more of them. God job keep at it. Look up approach shots
There's also an ultra-high level occupied by the very top pros. A high-level player might be able to hang at the ultra high level for a set maybe, but they can't keep it up.
W Shot
Bro was mad but then realized he was gonna have lost that point anyways
For the low balls in the red zone, use the forearm leading the shots, like more windshield motion. For the mid-high balls in the red zone, drive the ball more, like using the shoulder and upper arm more with less leg and body rotation, also don’t let the racket drop too much below the ball (less top spin). Practice and you will master the short balls. Your baseline shots and top spin serve were good!
What are your credentials? ITF record?
Who are you? You don’t even have a photo? Email me some footage of you playing. You know my content is $$$ so why do you need some numbers next to my name to reassure what you already know.

Actually not AI at all… only computer vision and math… One reason I would go with humans is it keeps more people engaged in the sport. But if the cameras are well located they will always have a better “correct call” than humans.
Humans over all AI
Dude how are you high level every stroke has a bit of a hitch def not a natural
You’re not considering what kind of player I’m up against or what Im trying to do.
