We went STEALTH camping | Batu Pahat, Malaysia
This episode is a little special! Instead of going to a campsite like we usually do, we decided to STEALTH camp, which we haven't done for a really long time sooo do watch and see how it turned out! 🤣
📍Chong Long Gong Temple
There is a clean public toilet available for using (not meant for shower use though) and many eateries and some homestay around the area.
The temple is quite popular too! Shared a link below for your read if you're interested:

4D3Ns adventure | BUDGET friendly campsite in Mersing

One highlight of this trip would be us visiting a new campsite in Mersing, Telok Gorek Chalet & Camping! Honestly, there are many other campsites around the area but we thought this is much more 'wallet-friendly' so we thought we should share 😜 its a chalet style campsite, with really nice facilities, clean toilets, huts around the campsite to chill, electricity available etc. If camping is too...

📍 Punggai Buyu Impian Campsite: This is one of our favourite campsites to visit for short trips. Its is located at Desaru, just 1.5hrs drive away for JB and we especially love this campsite because it is by the beach. Toilets are clean, the guys working around the campsite are really nice too. *Do note that it can get really crowded, especially during holiday period so remember to make bookings...
FIRST van check 6 months adventure.. & camping!

Towards the end of our 6 months adventure, our van started showing some errors, so this weekend, we took some time out to get it checked to have a peace of mind! We visited Kek Seng Autoparts, the people there were amazing, we did the live diagnosis and the owner helped breakdown the issue, explained and showed us what are the part that needs to be changed so that was great! hi just discovered your channel and been watching your videos lately, very cool idea! I have a few questions if you could so kindly share more on perhaps you could also film some of these points in the future: 1. does it get dangerous at night? Are there any safety precautions that you take when you go to sleep? 2. How is your unpacking like after each trip? I would imagine the time taken to unpack would be significant and eat into the rush back to SG.

    • @bokchoy.travels
      @bokchoy.travels 2 дні тому

      @@BBowiec hihi! thanks for watching our videos!! For safety within the van, we do have a 360 degree CCTV setup, so although our inside is black out, we are able to see what's going on outside. Typically, for our travel style, we find campsites to stay the night, so safety is generally fine, mostly we keep our van door open with bug net over. Of couse not all campsites are built the same, for some we hunker in and keep all doors lock. Stealth camping by the streets, is a bit tricky, we do assess the place, drive around the area and have a feel of a place before stopping for the night, it's really about feeling, sometimes some things don't feel right and we drive off to another location. In general, we like to park directly under a street lamp and if it permits, near a 24hrs crowded eatery hahaha. So far, we have been left undisturbed for night. We actually have a few stealth camping videos and one coming up real soon! Tomorrow! For us, our camper van is like our home so there are stuffs like cloths, chargers, bedding, toiletry, cooking wares etc. permanently left in the van. We typically just stop by a laundry shop (24mins to wash 24mins to dry) to clean up our cloths/bedding before heading back to SG almost empty handed, of cos maybe we buy some eggs back 🤣🤣🤣 U are interested in camping in Malaysia too?

    can share what's the procedure for you to buy the van and where you park it when you're in singapore?

    • @bokchoy.travels
      @bokchoy.travels 3 дні тому

      @@CalebSeah Hihi Caleb! Definitely, for Singaporean(foreigner), we did it from a 2nd hand car dealer, the vehicle ownership procedure is very straightforward, the dealer will bring u to JPJ (MY's LTA) to get the ownership trf over to u, takes ard 15-20mins, you will need your passport. You will received a hardcopy vehicle ownership card with ur name and passport no. on it. When u renew ur passport, simply walk into JPJ to update ur vehicle ownership card with ur new passport number and 50rm for a new hardcopy of it. Insurance and road tax we got the dealer to settle for us too. Insurance and road tax is a bit tricky from the 2nd year onwards, we can't login to the Malaysia app to renew our road tax, so we typically get the insurance company to renew our insurance and do our road tax together for a nominal fee ard 30-50rm. Then we collect the hardcopy road tax from the insurance agent. Privately, foreigner can own any car, but for van only fully windowed van can be privately own, semi panel and full panel van can only be registered to a Malaysian company. For MY parking, we search on Mudah (MY's carousell) and rented a space from someone with a landed property. For us, we are quite lucky, we found a parking which includes electronic gate key and the parking area is loaded with CCTV.

      @bokchoy.travels thanks for your detailed sharing. When you travel to different country with it, what do they ask for? Insurance and road tax, passport, ownership proof? Carnet de passag? Do you need to buy insurance in every country you go for your van? For parking, what's the estimated cost for it? Thanks for sharing once again

    • @bokchoy.travels
      @bokchoy.travels 3 дні тому

      @@CalebSeah hihi, no worries at all, hope u find the information useful! Carnet is only needed if u plan to enter countries which requires them, don't quote us but we think we are good until central asia, except of u need to enter India. Yep, passport and vehicle ownership card most important. For Thai and Laos, 3rd party car insurance can be purchased directly at the border customs. Cambodia didn't even check, but the best thing to do is get insurance in advance for ur vehicle, we know of a friend who did this but don't have the exact details. Do let us know if u have any information on this. Also we have not been able to get car insurance for two drivers beyong Malaysia, so usually on the owner of the vehicle is insured. If u can finda all driver insurance do let us know too! For personal insurance, u can get travel nomad kind, it's pricier but u can start and end the insurance an any destinations and dates rather then annual local insurance which requires u the start and end at SG within a fix time frame. Parking i believe now is around 150 to 200rm/month, parking spaces is always in demand in JB.

      we are probably plagued by a few factors: - Dec to Feb being the peak travel period in Koh Phangan - Our travels are too ad hoc so we usually only find accomodation on the day or one day before 50 USD is actually really pricey for us which is what we paid for at our first night hotel. Our most expensive hotel in the first half a year of travelling was actually 25USD in a major city. Most we are out at campsites or dorm style accomodations.

      I suspect that leech was from the toilet because i noticed i stepped onto something but didn't cared much.. it wasn't painful and was unnoticed. I only knew it was latched onto me when i noticed blood on the bed 😬 and I still needed to find where it was on me. I think typically it's ok to walk around camp site in slippers, this seems quite an isolated incident and the only leech we have gotten from all the campsites we have been too so far.

    How long is your drive from Kon Lor to Vientiane?

      Around 7.5 hours with some rest in between, roads are ok.. a bit of pot hole filled roads nearer to Vientiane, short but annoying haha
