The temple has a board saying only Hindus allowed. As per temple rules, only the shankaracharya can make exceptions and changes. Among the most notable was when Indira Gandhi was stopped from entering the Jagannath temple in Puri in 1984 on the grounds that she was married to a Parsi.
Not just Indira, even Mahatma Gandhi was stopped when he took an entourage of Muslims, Harijans and Dalits to the temple.
Run-ins at temples for politicians belonging to the Gandhi family have been fairly common.
In 1984, when Rajiv Gandhi was PM his wife Sonia Gandhi was stopped from entering the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu. She was disallowed on the grounds that she was a Christian and Italian. It led to a diplomatic fallout. India issued an economic blockade against Nepal which, of course, the PMO denied having any connection with the incident involving Sonia. But then Natwar Singh, who was then the external affairs minister, was sent to find a way out.
Again Sonia Gandhi when she took over as party president in 1998 went to Tirupati temple for blessings. She was made to sign the visitors’ book which wanted to know if she was a Hindu. She had then replied by saying “I follow the principles of my family”.

पितृ दोष, कालसर्प दोष इनके दोष के निवारण के लिए नागबलि,नारायणबलि की पूजा होती है। किसी ने नीचे कमेंट में लिखा है कि सोने के साँप बनवा कर चढ़ाया जाता है और इस तरह से पंडित दिन दहाड़े लूटते हैं, यह बिल्कुल गलत है क्योंकि आटे के नाग और आटे का मनुष्य बना कर के पूजा पाठ किया जाता है। और कालसर्प दोष की पूजा के लिए पंडित खुद अपने पास से सोने के तार के बने नाग के जोड़े की पूजा करवाता है आपकी खुद की इच्छा पर है कि आप वो नाग का जोड़ा खुद देते हैं या नहीं।कोई पाबंदी नहीं होती है कि ये करना ही पड़ेगा। ये सब इसलिये बोल रही हूँ क्योंकि मैंने यह पूजा वहाँ करवाई है। और जितने अच्छे से और विधिवत तरीके से वहाँ यह पूजा होती है और कहीं नहीं होती है।
