How to sample putting greens for a nematode assay.
Переглядів 71Рік тому
This video covers the methods for pulling putting green soil cores for nematode assays through the OSU/USDA lab program. 1. Use a 3/4" soil probe to pull cores to a depth of 4-6" (or as deep as the roots are) 2. Zig-zag randomly across the green to pull a total of 20 cores from across the whole area. 3. Optional: put the 20 cores in a bucket as you pull them, for ease. 4. Empty the cores into a...

I can see that the gallons per minute are important here, and you got that by timing the bucket fill, but what is the relationship with pressure? Why is pressure measurement even important here?
So with the irrigation heads the PSI isn't as necessary as the GPM? Or do you need to know both?
Dear sir, you explained it very well. Many thanks for educating us on such topics
What if you can't fit a 5 gallon bucket under the spigot? Will testing the gpm through a garden hose give an untrue result?
Yes, the length and size and roughness of the hose will affect the pressure
What are your thoughts on Kurapia in the PNW/Seattle?
When setting up a filtration system, the inlet/outlet require a threaded fitting; but after that I could continue to use threaded PVC fittings or solvent-weld fittings. My question is which is better. Should I put my PVC pipes together with more threaded PVC fittings vs solvent-weld fittings? For example, I am installing two water filters and I thought of using Unions, but those Unions come with or without threads. Which is better?
Found this video while searching on drainage system for my irrigation test here in Nigeria
Found this video while researching the question of how professional sports stadiums (with natural turf) drain water rapidly through the surface turf layer. I shared this video with my oldest son who is interested in starting his own lawncare and landscaping business and he was quite interested as well. Thank you!
All your math is wrong, You're basing that off a very high water pressure, You yourself said it needs to be reduced, Reduce the water pressure 1st then do your bucket test.
The pressure only needs to be reduced for drip stations because they use insert or compression fittings.
why not just use poly instead of thin, extremely eazy to crack class 200 pvc? So much unessacery work gluing all the fittings they will eventually leak through the joints, especially since you didn't wipe your joints clean.
I've been scouring UA-cam for helpful videos on how to assess a private well accurately / properly to determine how to design your irrigation system. Does anyone have suggestions or videos that explain the 101 of designing a system off a private well??
The irrigation thing is a lot more simple than people make it out to be. Get a rain gauge and put it in or near your lawn. If you get an inch of rain a week leave the sprinklers off. If your don't get an inch of rain that week turn the sprinklers on until you get an inch of water on the grass.
It's a bummer to hear chamomile didn't work well in the mix! I'm ... probably still going to try it because I want to believe it can work, at least in patches of the lawn. :)
We need an update please.
Is this video in regards of a Certified applicator exam training?
Teflon tape should be applied WITH* the threading, not opposite of it. This is so that when you thread on the female end, it doesn't unravel the teflon tape you just applied but rather goes with it. Other than that correction, great video.
Pipe tape applied wrong. Need more research. ;)
You've done good work. I may refer to this later on. Thank you.
For starters you using the swing assembly the wrong way round. The Marlex 90 screws into the bottom of the head for maximum flexibility at the head, not into the pvc fitting, which also is usually at that point not an FA. But could be if you used a swing MA.
For such a small area I am surprised that you used a rotary.
Would suggest the end compression be an elbow facing up. If anything breaks or requires maintenance down the road it will be easier to do.
🤩🤩🤩
Very helpful!
Thank you
Does high flow usually mean high pressure ?
Thanks a bunch you are the best. Best video out there explaining this topic!
At the age of 62, you made it clear to me that my flow rate was my problem. Thanks much.
I love this!
Great explanation. To put it simple 300/ (x). x = no of seconds to fill 5 gallon bucket. In your case 300/22= 13.6 GPM.
I couldnt even see where the ball went!

I want 2 mins of my life back. Why did I just watch a UA-cam video of someone watching a UA-cam video? 🤦🏼♂️
👍
I would like to see the same trial performed on tall fescue but without irrigation and see how that affects nitrogen rates overall. For a grass that is to take less irrigation, having to apply higher amounts of N to keep it green seems counterintuitive.
I think the same study but with tall fescue could yield some interesting results. Especially in the plots watered 1X/week
We are repeating this study on tall fescue in the summer of 2021. Great idea!!!
