Heard this in Westminster RC Cathedral (🇬🇧) on 18th October '24 done by the cathedral's boys choir combined with the boys choir of Cologne Cathedral (🇩🇪) and it was fabulous.

Aristide Cavaille-Coll would have fit right in with rock music 100 years later. This one and St. Sulpice are my two favorites. Such power.

To have this performance interrupted by a totally inappropriate advert midflow is just plain stupid by UA-cam.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'll take this over the Vierne carillon any day. While this recording is of superior sound quality and is instructive with its clear articulation, I still love the dark sound of Dupré's own recording at Saint-Sulpice.

About one thing I wonder: Why has the "apparition de l'église éternelle" have to be such a gloomy piece? Actually it should be something heavenly and happy, joyful etc.

La plus belle version est celle enregistrée chez Philips sur un orgue sublime à Berlin. Quelle pièce ! Quelle chef d'œuvre !

En tombant dessus par hasard, j'ai cru à un remaster de Dupré le jouant en personne.. véridique Il capture à merveille l'esprit de la pièce, je ne suis pas sûr que si on ait eu cet enregistrement, il y ait eu beaucoup de différence

That E-natural in the climax. To be that one chamade right then: singing your lungs out, filling the space with your glory. (spoken like a trombone player lol) Love the thumbnail photo. Someone should fly a drone all over this instrument to reveal all her unseen beauty.

Which recording did you take this from. I thought I had all of Madam M-B disc from St-O.

Hmmmmm……. To my mind, this is the usual thing of French Symphonic n Post Symphonic using the organ like a piano and string ensemble. In the hands of the masters like Duruflé, it works. But I’m not convinced by this work of Dallier. Nevertheless, excellently performed and registered: especially no.3

I loved this performance. Thank you for posting the score (I do have the sheet music myself but i don't think I'll be learning it any time soon). It's insanely difficult - although if you have patience to break it down into very small chunks I suppose it can be learnt. What I did feel was that I was more aware of some of th subtler moments which is really nice.

Spectacularly magnificent, to be sure! Pity it's no longer deemed Liturgically appropriate music for the text being sung. Nevertheless, great concert music.
